Violent Crime Is No Longer a Local Issue; It’s Become an Issue of National Concern

WASHINGTON, DC, Sep 30 — The COVID pandemic, aided and abetted by the massive invasion of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border, has created a record upsurge of violent crime — the likes of which haven’t been seen in the U.S. for over two decades.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation reports that in just the last four months “Between May 1, and Sept. 2, 2022, the FBI and local and state law enforcement partners arrested nearly 6,000 alleged violent criminals and gang members and seized more than 2,700 firearms connected to criminal conduct. Throughout the summer, the FBI and its partners also disrupted nearly 845 and dismantled 105 violent gangs and criminal enterprises and seized large quantities of fentanyl and other deadly narcotics.” The Feds point out that on average in 2021 there were 6.9 murders per 100,000 people — a state of crime not seen since the turn of the 21st century and that there were 107,000 people who died last year from drug overdoses.

There are those that point a finger at the progressive regimes in blue states and cities that let repeat offenders out of jail too soon. An Epoch Times report, for example, notes that “New York state changed its bail laws in response to outcry over prisoners accused of minor crimes being held in jail for extended periods while awaiting trial because they couldn’t afford to pay bail. But some law enforcement officials warned that people released back to the streets would commit new crimes.”

Fox News reports that New York City has had the largest rise in violent crime. The city saw an increase of 40.6% in violent crime since 2021. In the period between May 15 to date there were 43,244 incidents of violent crime compared to the same period in 2021 when 30,754 such crimes were recorded.

A breakdown of crimes committed by homegrown criminals versus the hundreds of thousands of perpetrators who crossed the Mexican border in the 20 months since Joe Biden took office in January 2021 and unlocked our southern border doors is not available. However, Congressional Republicans are up in arms.

Senators James Lankford [R-OK] and Ted Cruz [R-TX] and 20 of their colleagues are demanding answers from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. They want to know why Mayorkas has deprioritized removal of “dangerous criminal aliens.” The letter points out that “the predictable result has been increased rates of illegal crossings and instances of violent crime against American citizens. The letter lays out 16 examples of tragic crimes—including homicides, rapes, assaults, robberies, and deaths caused by driving under the influence—committed by illegal aliens across the country since 2021.”

Meanwhile,  Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. [R-LA], John Thune [R-SD], Jerry Moran [R-KS], Thom Tillis [R-NC] and James Lankford [R-OK] have introduced the Reverse Entry for Migrant Offenders and Violence Expulsion [REMOVE] Act. That piece of legislation “would close a loophole that currently allows noncitizens convicted of kidnapping or sexual assault to remain in the United States.”

In addition, Senator Joni Ernst [R-IA] joined Senators Chuck Grassley [R-IA] and Jim Inhofe [R-OK] to introduce legislation they call the Keep Our Communities Safe Act. It’s designed to “close the ‘catch-and-release’ loophole that forces immigration authorities to release illegal immigrants back into the U.S. if they have not been accepted for deportation to other countries after being detained for six months.”

Crime, violent crime, in particular, has long been viewed as a local issue. But, as the FBI’s crime statistics and the massive invasion of illegal immigrants — including foreign bad guys — is fast making it an issue of national concern.

All this is part of the plan to destabilize the United States and distract the public while the Democrats implement their agenda to remake the country into the planned socialist Utopia that have envisioned for decades. People don’t tend to notice they are being systematically robbed blind and slowly placed into what amounts to indentured servitude (in this case dependency on the federal government when they can no longer afford to live without a constant stream of government assistance), if they are busy dealing with an escalating crime rate and lack of personal safety. If all you do is focus on the immediate physical threat before you, you will miss how this all plays into the larger coordinated effort to reshape the country on a permanent basis.

How did the leftist government become soft on crime yet restricts self-defense for the law abiding? Those who subscribe to this travesty are never held accountable for the results of their policies.

Hmmmm. I see that the FBI is pushing out data on how ac tive they have been on criminal activity. I guess it is a partial cover-up for all the activities they should NOT be doing …. for example, harassment of an President emeritus. I h hope the next non-DemocRat POTUS does a throrough and major cleanup of the FBI from top to bottom.
