If you’re approaching Medicare enrollment—or you’re already enrolled—understanding how your income affects your Medicare costs can help you avoid expensive surprises.

Join AMAC for Session 2 of our free webinar series, “Medicare Pitfalls: HSA, IRMAA, and Timing Your Enrollment,” on Tuesday, July 21, at 2:00 p.m. ET.

Many Medicare beneficiaries are surprised to learn that their Part B and Part D premiums can increase based on their Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) through a program known as the Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). Fortunately, there are strategies that may help you avoid unnecessary premium increases—and opportunities to request a reduction if you’ve experienced certain life-changing events.

During this informative session, you’ll learn:

What IRMAA is and how it’s calculated

Which income events can trigger higher Medicare premiums

Strategies to help reduce or avoid IRMAA surcharges

How qualifying life-changing events may allow you to lower your premiums

Practical tips to help you make informed Medicare enrollment decisions

Whether you’re planning for retirement or already receiving Medicare benefits, this webinar will provide valuable guidance to help you minimize costs and avoid common Medicare pitfalls.

Tip #1: If you have an IRA or 401(k) or similar retirement account, don’t turn 73 and be required to make minimum distributions (RMDs) from those accounts.

Of course, you could always make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) as part of your RMD to minimize the impact of your RMD on your Modified Adjusted Gross Income but would you rather die or give some of your retirement account to charity.

Decisions, decisions.
