Happy Birthday to the USMC today, and thanks to all those that have ever served in any of the United States armed forces. ROBERT 2 years ago Good grief!! Over 20 years served and I only got 5 of 10. If it counts as a good excuse, I was Navy, not Army, and most of the questions favored Army. John Bass 2 years ago 9/10 Birmingham Alabama hosted the first Veterans Day parade…that was a shocker. Jim 2 years ago 6/10, not too great for this retired veteran. Thank you to all our veterans and their families!! www. mentalfloss.com/article/13043/kansas-shoe-salesman-responsible-veterans-day James 2 years ago Did government switch Coast Guard over to Homeland Security? And for what reason? Budget maneuvering? Thank you for everyone’s service! SAW 2 years ago 6 of 10. Should have done better!! Grandfather served in the Navy during WW1 on transports. My dad drove the Higgins boats into the beaches of the pacific in WW2, full of Marines. He almost didn’t make it back. I would not be writing this if his gunner hadn’t pulled him out of the water after being blown overboard from a close round as they were driving back to the LST to pick up more marines… Connie P. 2 years ago 8/10. Missed the parade location. Also, since the Department of Homeland Security wasnāt formed until 2002, and the Coast Guard has been around much longer, I did not think that was the right answer. Guess they were moved after 2002. Lots of vets in my family, and I was an Army wife. God bless all those who served! Loretta 2 years ago 8 out of 10. Missed the parade and Coast Guard questions.
