What is below was found in Wikipedia under Mother’s Day: “In 1908, the U. S. Congress rejected a proposal to make Mother’s Day an official holiday, joking that they would also have to proclaim a ‘Mother-in-law’s Day.’ ” AND “In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother’s Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.” So I got 8 right instead of 7. Would have had 5, if I hadn’t changed my answer to #7. For #5, I fell into the same trap, keying on Wilson instead of “celebrated,” but I suspect some people celebrated the notion, long before 1908.
