He was shipped out the week before Thanksgiving. He met is first and only daughter, and he and mom spent their second night together, in 1943 (The plane he was on had one other passenger, some guy named FDR. Some Lt. played a joke on dad, and FDR held a plane in Washington for the rest of his trip to Boston.) Dad said he was quite busy there for a while. He was, “Just doing my job.” Lana 1 year ago 6/10. The OSC in Springfield (Illinois) was never a court house. It was expressly built to be the capital of the Prairie State as it relocated from Vandalia to Mr. Lincoln’s adopted home city.
