Mary 2 months ago I must agree with others who said they never heard of Eastertide. Otherwise it was a wonderful review of my biblical education. Broccoli Free Zone 2 months ago I saw more scientific evidence of the crucifixion. Some astronomy folks calculated that there was a total eclipse of the sun on 4/3/0033 A. D. (Ironically today is 4/3) There is also geological evidence of an earthquake at around that time. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John documented those types of things in the Gospel.. Be sure to thank Jesus of Nazareth of taking the punishment for all your sins, especially today. Those Roman guys were especially brutal with Him. Remember, 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given. Carol 2 months ago I’ve never heard the term Eastertide. The West calls resurrection Sunday Easter while the Orthodox Christians call Easter Pascha and the 40 days after are part of the Pascha season. Isaac Hayden 2 months ago Jesus was crucified on Wednesday and His body was placed in the tomb before 6:00pm, which began the Day of Preparation for the Passover. Passover started on Thursday eve at 6:00pm and lasted until 6:00pm Friday eve, when the Sabbath began and lasted until 6:00pm Saturday eve. Christ was resurrected on the first day of the week, which began at 6:00pm on Saturday. Jesus was resurrected after 6:00pm, fulfilling what Christ had prophesied, “As Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days, AND THREE NIGHTS.” Remember, we’re talking Jewish times and days, and they found the tomb empty when they went to the tomb, “before the morning was breaking.” Happy Easter! Isaac Hayden 2 months ago Jesus was crucified on Wednesday and placed in the tomb before 6:00 pm. The next day was the day of preparation for the Passover on Friday. The Sabbath started at 6:00 pm Friday eve and lasted until 6:00 pm Saturday. Jesus was resurrected on the first day of the week which was Sunday. Remember it was still dark when they wet to the tomb, and it was empty. That would be a full 3 days in the tomb, as Jesus said, “As Jonah was in the belly of the whale, three days, and three nights…” Sam 2 months ago 7/10.
