Bob L. 2 years ago Actually, Hitler did not design the VW, but he had the main input as far as it’s shape and specifications. He insisted it be designed to be streamlined, ” like a beetle”, carry two adults and three children and go 60 miles per hour. Dr. Porsche was the one who took the specs and designed the car. George 2 years ago The Volkswagen Type 1 was first brought to this country by Ben Pon, from Rotterdam. He called the car ‘Victory Wagon’ in response to hecklers from the press. His ventured failed and he sold the demo to pay his hotel bill. The first dealer to successfully sell the Volkswagen in the U.S. was a man named Max Hoffman who did not call the car ‘Victory Wagon’. I seriously doubt that any AMAC readers other than afficionados have ever heard of the name ‘victory wagon’ before this quiz. Lynette Blackwell 2 years ago I surprisingly got 10/10.
