AMAC: Attacks on Our Constitutional Rights Grow Bolder and More Frequent

AMAC Dan Weber Association of Mature American Citizens AMAC“Is it too much to require our lawmakers and public officials to reveal their position on the Constitution before they are elected or appointed?”

BOHEMIA, NY, Apr 26 – “Threats to our Constitutional rights seem to be growing bolder and more frequent.  This week the mayor of New York City called for changes that would give the government even more power to pry into our private lives; last week documents turned up showing the IRS was telling its agents to disregard the need for a warrant for personal email, text message and private social media messaging,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“Is it too much to require our lawmakers and public officials to reveal their positions as regards the Constitution before they are elected or appointed,” Weber asked.  “This is a vital piece of information that we, the voters, should have before we cast our ballots.  The very future of the country depends on the preservation and protection of the rights and values established by our Founding Fathers in that document.”

During a news conference Tuesday Mayor Bloomberg of New York said: “The people who are worried about privacy have a legitimate worry.  But we live in a complex world where you’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will. And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.”

Weber described Bloomberg’s comment as “an insidious, new high-level attack on our indisputable rights.  Revisionist politicians have been growing daring in their efforts to undermine the Constitution and these ideologues must be called to account,” he said.

The AMAC chief pointed out that “just last week it was discovered that the IRS was flaunting the Fourth Amendment by peeking at private electronic messages without first obtaining a warrant because, as the IRS Criminal Tax Division put it, ‘internet users do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in such communication’.”

The revelation caused a firestorm of protests, including a sharply worded promise by Senator Mark Udall of Colorado.  “I have serious concerns about the IRS’s recent comments that it can search and seize citizens’ emails, Facebook posts, tweets and other digital communications without a warrant,” Udall said. “This is an affront not only to our system of checks and balances, but also to our fundamental right to privacy.”

Weber pointed out that the attack on the First Amendment right to Freedom of Religion posed by the contraceptive/abortion mandate in Obamacare remains unresolved as is the effort to abridge our Second Amendment right to bear arms.

ABOUT AMAC

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

The biggest problem I see is that there are a large number of bleeding hearts out there who don’t want to get their hands dirty helping directly, so they want the government to do it. This leads to 2 problems-1 those who don’t care or don’t want to do anything are forced to contribute and are resentful 2 those who receive become complacent and feel entitled. When charity has no face, there is no gratitude and no feeling of commitment to change their circumstances. This situation will NOT change until we face the fact that those who are not working should not be entitled to anything. Government needs to put in place an exit plan for the unemployed–limits on funding. They need to stop supporting the arts and sciences–those that please the public can sell whatever they want. Health care is NOT a right. People who take care of themselves… Read more »

I love the right wing fanatics who trash the left wing fanatics and cannot see that there is NO difference between extremists on either side. You whine about government intrusions, but insist on it for abortion, gun rights, and other things you believe should be done by all of us. Holier-than-thou attitudes accomplish nothing. Conservative extremists are slowly destroying the Republican Party and we’ll never win anything unless you get off your phoney high-horses. Abortion on demand is not much worse than no abortions, no matter what the circumstances are. You are still trying to impose YOUR beliefs on others, which is the same exact thing you accuse the left of doing.

This can’t continue, there are militias talking about taking our government back by force if necessary. I favor that if that is what it requires. Taking our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms away and they stymie that chance…so they think. We will have to decide that we will have what we need to fight if we need to do so. In the mean time, we should do all we can to get those out of office who think the constitution is something they can tread on. Fight that fight first, it doesn’t require bullets and guns yet.

The Preamble to the Constitution of these United States. Read it, make your children read it! Require that they read it! Get them away, far away, from the public school system. It’s not taught there anymore. IF THEY DON’T KNOW THE VALUE, THEY WON’T DEFEND IT!

I think in one of Obama’s speechs in 2008 he said, someone that doesn’t want to show you something has something to hide. Why did Obama have all his records sealed ? I e-mailed the whitehouse with that question.Have not recieved an answer yet.

A few random comments: Bloomberg needs his own country where he can do whatever he wants – I suggest he go to Cuba! There he would not have to concern himself with with such a trival thing as a Constitution.

We have people who now Vote for a living — in other words they vote themselves free stuff and they now the “Takers” outnumber the “Makers”.

You will never hear King Obama utter these words, “a Muslim Islamist Terrorist”. He cannot get those related words out in one complete sentence – because he is a Muslim.

King Obama told everyone he was going to change America and apparently no one paid attention. At least not enough of us informed voters.

Remember, its not that Obama was entirely stupid – it was the fact that the “voters were stupid.” Stupid is as Stupid does!

Obama has already bankrupted this country, he gave General Motors $50 Billion dollars to bail them out and then they move in excess of 50% of their production to China. Do you think that Obama didn’t know this was going to happen? Obama is a communist and he is desparately trying to move our country in that direction as well. He has allowed Our country to continue to print BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars every day with nothing to support the value of this money, an we wonder why we are bankrupt. We have borrowed so much money from other countries that we cannot even pay the interst on these loans. Our Senate and House of Representatives better get their heads out of their butts and put a stop to these practices, and if they can’t do it then we need to replace every damn one of them. Obama and… Read more »

Hi!

We don’t have constitutional rights as the constitutions of the several States of the Union and the Constitution
of the United States do NOT give us any rights whatsoever.

None at all.

Did you comprehend that?

We have instead constitutonal “secured” rights, and there is a major difference between the two.

Suggestion: Learn the difference.

Thank you!

What sad days for America. I wonder in obomb plans to change our name once his plans are installed? It will be no pleasure to me to listen to the crying all the people who want this, when they realize what it will cost them………….it will give me no pleasure to hear moans from those of us who love our country and our God.

We know what this country was built on and it has nothing to do with what is going on now. God WLL correct this in His own time.

What sad days for America. I wonder if obomb plans to change our name as he is changing our Constitution. It is (to me and should be to all) apparent what he is doing to our Country. If only our Congress would admit this and take steps to get him out of office!! Imagine their surprise when the obama supporters realize THEY – and all of us – will pay much more and the slackers and illegal immigrants get free health care, schooling, etc!

Our current sad state of affairs in this country was all too predictable. We have put so-called “entitlement” programs in place and invited, even encouraged the throngs of unmotivated to jump on board and enjoy their many benefits. Personal responsibility is now passe’, and political correctness now demands that anyone who dares to question the phenomenal growth of these programs is greedy, mean spirited or even racist. Bottom line is that the “takers” now outnumber the “producers” in this country. Those who are beguiled by “free stuff” and by attacking “the rich” will continue to elect leftists like Barack Obama. Republicans see this coming. Many are “moderating” their views (i.e. abandoning their principals) in an effort just to remain in office. Unfortunately, there ain’t no Ronald Reagan (or someone as dynamic as he was) waiting in the wings, and so we can no longer find charismatic candidates who can defeat… Read more »

I make no bones about where I stand I speak it loud and clear We are in deep dodo with the government officials in charge. We need real law abiding citizens in charge not these power grubbing buffoons Bloomberg, and Obama.

Amen to most of the comments. The current Executive branch is an embarrasment to God fearing, honest and tax paying Americans. Contempt of the constitution seems is part of their agenda. And, our elected senators and representatives are just a guilty when they defy most patriotic americans failing to bring this executive to charges of impeachment for failure to uphold their oath to uphold the constitution. The continum of Executive Orders from this President is deplorable, a significant indication of a weakness in leadership ability as well as showing his value system which is void of decency and honesty. to disregard congress in appointments of czars, some of whom come from systems and backgrounds adverse to a democracy is indicitive of one whose goal appears to become a dictator.

Americans who love liberty and the Consitution of the United States have no voice in Washington or most governmental offices today. Why, I cannot find sanity in my Homeowners Association! But Obama is not the problem. He is but the symptom of a much greater problem. Cal Thomas nailed it. America was established with the profound understanding that “Liberty is a gift from God” (Thomas Jefferson) and it is government’s responsibility to protect those liberties. But America has kicked God out of public life and most of private life. Therefore, God’s blessings are removed. We are now vulnerable to “chastisements” by God. The Almighty can use Osama Bin Laden in our generation for His purposes just as readily as He used Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon for His purposes of chastisement against Judah (Israel) in ages past. He is the same God today, yesterday and forever. After 9/11, remember all the bumper… Read more »

I have lived through part of the “great depression”, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the wars in the middle east (of which Afganistan is the worst abortion of all). The entire country is NOT worth one single American life. The problem is that we law-abiding and caring people are outnumbered. The majority of people (who now illegally elect the members of the government), are the people who are either illegal aliens, welfare-dependent people who will not work, and people who will vote for a half-breed illegal just because he is a half-breed, and for no other reason. As for why the main-stream media and other organizations are backing the “president” and his merry men, the only thing that can account for it is money. You wouldn’t think everyone in those organizations would be that stupid. The country can’t go on like this. I have heard that the average life-span of a… Read more »

Just as God punished the nation of Israel for their disobedience America is seeing what happens when you leave God out of your life, homes, schools, government. Just because Obama doesn’t see it doesn’t change the fact that we have brought God’s chastisement on ourselves.Bible says that if we repent and turn from our wicked ways that the Lord would hear us and heal our land but because of our sins there are consequences just as there always are for sin !!!

How can the American citizens feel that Obama will protect anything. Each time he opens his mouth he lies. He lies to buy votes and has already sold his soul to the devil. He lies about same sex marriage (buying votes from the gay and lesbian community), he lies about abortion (buys the votes of the morally corrupted women who are sexually permissive), promises to protect out country from terrorism to buy all our votes (yet does not send help to our own ambassador and allows he and others to be murdered – Then covers it up to save his and his secretary of state butts – Stand by for Hillery to run to replace Obama). He lies about protecting the Freedom of Religion – to buy the right wing vote. He lies about gun control to buy the liberal vote (Yet he covers-up and defends his attorney general who… Read more »

My wife and I, and a majority of our families believe that Obummer MUST GO NOW! Impeachment proceedings should begin immediately! He is purposely destroying what is left of our Country., He is an evil Communist, Marxist, whatever you want to call him and he must be removed from office ASAP before it is too late for all of us. His budget proposal will never balance and will harm we seniors as well as the younger people. It is unbelievable how evil this son-of-a bitch is, and for the life of me, I can NOT understand how nobody has opposed him. it is time for the members of Congress, both the House AND the Senate to “grow a pair” and block Obummer! Block him hard and block him NOW!!

We aren’t talking about wireless signals that can be captured in the air by anybody. Internet communications, Facebook posts, e-mails, etc. are private communications between individuals just the same as phone calls. As a warrant is needed to do phonewiretaps, so also should they be required to invade our internet privacy, yet apallingly, the IRS has been doing this for a long time. They get away with it because none of them have been fired or sued. There is no accountability. This is the same reason Eric Holder hasen’t been fired or prosecuted for “Fast & Furious”. This is the same reason noone has ever been fired or prosecuted for the murders by the FBI of unarmed people at Ruby Ridge, years ago. These people make up their own rules and seem to be accountable to noone. Over the last few years those in power who would do such unlawful things,… Read more »
