Bohemia, NY — [6/1/2026] — The AMAC Book Club is proud to announce Flags of Our Fathers by bestselling author James Bradley as its June Book of the Month selection.

As Americans reflect on history and patriotism during the summer season, Flags of Our Fathers offers a timely and moving account of one of the most powerful images of World War II: the photograph of six U.S. Marines raising the American flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945.

Drawing from firsthand interviews, personal letters, and extensive research, Bradley—whose father was among the men in the famous photograph—brings readers beyond the battlefield to explore the lasting emotional impact of war, the burden of unexpected fame, and the complicated nature of heroism.

“June is an ideal time to honor the sacrifices of those who served our nation,” said AMAC CEO Rebecca Weber. “Flags of Our Fathers reminds us that behind every symbol of victory are real individuals who carried extraordinary burdens, both during the war and long after.”

The AMAC Book Club encourages members to read along throughout June and participate in ongoing discussions and featured content related to the selection.

It’s been years since I read that book, memory says be careful accepting all of it. Check book by Eugene Sledge.
