The SAVE Act Looms Over Lying Democrats

Those who closely follow American politics have long since become inured to Democrat bluster, but occasionally one of the left’s “leaders” says something so absurd that it raises eyebrows even among the most cynical observers. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) accomplished this feat recently when he took to X and brayed, “The SAVE Act is nothing more than Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise millions of Americans.”

The last time we heard that idiotic charge was in January of 2022, when former President Joe Biden denounced Georgia’s Election Integrity Act of 2021 as a sinister plot to suppress minority turnout because it strengthened Voter ID requirements. As the Daily Signal reported at the time, the 2022 midterms broke previous turnout records and black voters said the new rules made it easier to cast ballots. Schumer failed to get the memo.

The SAVE Act was passed by the House in April 2025. It would amend the National Voter Registration Act by requiring states to obtain documentary proof of citizenship that complies with the REAL ID Act of 2021 before registering a person to vote in a federal election. This is why Schumer declared that the bill would be DOA in the Senate. He knows that requiring proof of citizenship would cost his party a crucial constituency. Here he is in more depth on the bill:

“If you’re one of the tens of millions of U.S. citizens who does not have access to your birth certificate, or if you’re one of the 50 percent of Americans who don’t have a passport, the SAVE Act could make it impossible for you to participate in elections. It would lead to massive purges that inevitably remove legitimate citizens, who have the right to vote, from voter rolls… the SAVE Act is dead on arrival in the Senate.”

It is not, of course, legitimate citizens that Schumer is really concerned about. The “citizens” Schumer wants to protect from being “purged” are illegal aliens who are unlawfully able to vote via automatic voter registration (AVR) while interacting with state agencies. AVR didn’t exist in the U.S. until 2015, when Oregon became the first state to automatically register voters using information from its Division of Motor Vehicles.

A decade later, the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) reports that AVR has rapidly metastasized. All of the states that have implemented AVR insist they are models of election integrity, but the objective data suggest otherwise. Oregon has been at this longer than any other state, yet its system was still registering non-citizens to vote as recently as 2024. And the NCSL reports that Oregon is by no means unique:

“Nineteen states and the District of Columbia have enacted laws to allow unauthorized immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses. These states—California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Washington—issue a license if an applicant provides certain documentation.”

It will immediately be obvious that all but one of these states are controlled by the Democrats. Moreover, it is no coincidence that this list largely overlaps with the states that have refused to comply with DOJ requests for voter roll data pursuant to the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). As reported by AMAC Newsline last year, the DOJ had sued 14 states. The total is now 20.

According to the far-left Brennan Center for Justice, the DOJ is filing these lawsuits as part of a dark conspiracy to interfere with elections: “Make no mistake about what these actions represent: an attempt to take over election administration, a role that the Constitution grants to states, not the federal government.” This, and alleged voter privacy concerns, is the pretext these states are relying upon to hide the contents of their voter rolls.

Unfortunately for these noncompliant states, the claim about the DOJ’s motives can easily be debunked by perusing NVRA and HAVA. As to the Constitution, the Elections Clause gives the last word to Congress: “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations.”

The reason Sen. Schumer and the rest of the Democrats are so terrified of the SAVE Act and allowing the DOJ to see the voter rolls could not be more obvious. They know the voter rolls of states named above list millions of illegal aliens—a large percentage of whom have no idea that they are registered to vote. Moreover, most of these states automatically send ballots to every voter on their rolls, incentivizing illegal ballot harvesting.

Passage of the SAVE Act, and aggressive enforcement of its provisions, would constitute an existential threat to the Democrats. As reported in City Journal, “Recent migration numbers emphasize how population gains, economic growth, and political power are shifting toward Republican strongholds.” If the Democrats can’t count the votes of illegal aliens, they have no way to offset the loss of legitimate voters who have left the party.

And the GOP seems determined to get it done. Florida Sen. Rick Scott insists that “Senator Thune is committed to finding a way to pass the SAVE Act. Like its sponsor, Senator Mike Lee, Senator Scott has been instrumental in whipping votes for the SAVE Act.” Moronic slogans like “Jim Crow 2.0” won’t be enough to stop the bill’s momentum.

(Editor’s note: AMAC Action supported the SAVE Act’s passage through the U.S. House and has urged the Senate to take up the legislation.)

“Dems” only can win by cheating , they know that and will do anything, to stay in power. SAVE Act is a dagger to the heart of their existence. They don’t care about the rights of the masses only if it’s to their advantage. They’d put them down just as fast had it been profitable. Masses are blind and easy to fool, perfect for dems. to use in the time of need.

This goes on and on ad nauseum. It seems that nothing can/will be done to assure voter integrity. It’s tiring. There’s no new news, just commentaries on how or what the fight is in the current year.

If the Democrats cannot find the intestinal fortitude to secure our elections, it is time for the Senate to end the filibuster and cloture to get it done without them. I guess they don’t understand that the Democrats are going to do it anyway once they regain control of congress. Historically, the filibuster requires 60 votes in the senate once cloture is enacted to end the endless talking of senators. This was adopted after the signing of the Constitution. The simple majority vote that was initially found in the Constitution would get things done much quicker and would eliminate additions of “PORK” to entice senators to vote for the bill. Just think how their approval ratings would improve once they start doing the work of the people. We could also get a handle on ridiculous spending.

I heard on Fox News that Senator Ossoff of GA REQUIRED ID in order to attend his townhall wherein he explained why he is AGAINST ID to vote. Only a Dem can make take that as a position.

Maybe it is a good thing that the younger generations of folks now being “educated” in the USA will have no concept of “Jim Crow”, one, two or whatever. When one of our ancient $enator$ starts talking about anything, younger folks just tune them out….

How can anyone with even half a brain support the so-called Democrats? They have not one Democratic ideal in their policies now. They are nothing but Communists who are trying to overthrow our government of freedom and lawfulness. The FBI/CIA had better find out who is funding these ICE haters and end all of the funds Communists are sending here or we will lose our country come Nov. 2026. These traitors will not stop until their funds dry up. We need to see these money providers locked up for a long. long time.

I hope and pray the SAVE Act is passed in the Senate. Otherwise, Dems may take control of Congress via illegal votes.

This Dem opposition to the SAVE act is utter nonsense, with no facts just racist garbage, like the Jim Crow statement made by NY senator Chuck Schumer.
Most voters favor voter ID because it makes our elections more secure the Democrat party wants to cheat that is the only reason why their against voter ID because they know that their policies are terrible

Have the Democrats checked their history books lately. Jim Crow laws were written by Democrats to stop certain races from being able to vote. It was Southern democrats that were fighting to keep their slaves. It was a Republican President Abe Lincoln that ended slaves being held.

Praying for the SAVE act to pass! And I don’t pray nice! O Lord Jesus, remove all obstacles–human and otherwise–to this important bill passing. Isaiah 57:14 – “Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.”

This is something that every country in the free world requires, except the Dem’s will have nothing to do with it. They need any illegal folks to void for them. The same go for SS, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.

You take away the fraud money (DOGE) that Democrats are getting and the illegal alien votes and other voter fraud, the Democrat party collapses as a national party. That is why the Democrat Brown Shirts have been mobilized in Blue states and cities. This is their death knell. They know it and are terrified.

Time to finish them off by codifying DOGE and voting for the SAVE act.

Schumer really is a vile human being. Jim Crow 2.0? Ask any AFRICAN American if they an ID in order to vote, they say how could I not have one. You need an ID for almost everything in this country. To shut Schumers ugly as ,the Federal gvt should give a free one to be used in elections to restore integrity.

Unfortunately, common sense is not that common. The democrats have a crisis-level shortage of it. My current home state is trying to kill off the industry (oil&gas) that fills the state treasury with BILLION$ of dollars. It’s a good thing I own horses.

I am always amused by Senator Schumer when he makes these Jim Crow 2 arguments. As you point out, voter participation in Georgia, is very high. I find it interesting that in New York City and Chicago voter participation for major local elections is often well below 30%. What does that say about the voting methods and voter suppression in these areas?

Besides the direct issue, I am having trouble understanding why Congress or the DOJ does not have access to all States’ voter rolls.

The reason I am having trouble with this issue is that I don’t understand why in the digital age you and I don’t have access to all States’ voter rolls.

Why aren’t those voter rolls on the websites for all the States’ Secretary of State.
