The United States is on track to record its lowest murder rate in more than six decades – a major public safety milestone under President Donald Trump’s leadership.
New data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shows that the murder rate is plummeting nationwide. According to the Real-Time Crime Index, the number of murders in the country has dropped by 21.6 percent compared to the same period in 2024. In early May alone, murder rates fell 31.6 percent in Baltimore, 34.5 percent in St. Louis, 36.8 percent in Cleveland, 63 percent in Denver, 30.6 percent in New Orleans, 26.8 percent in New York, and 23.7 percent in Chicago.
If that trend continues, 2025 could break records – and even the corporate media is begrudgingly taking note. Politico recently noted that “murder rates are tumbling across the U.S. in 2025” and suggested the country “could be on course for the lowest number on record.” At current levels, 2025 would end up with fewer murders than 2014, when the U.S. recorded its lowest murder rate since 1960 – 4.46 murders per 100,000 Americans.
By comparison, the murder rate was 6.83 per 100,000 in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread violent BLM riots in major cities. Murder rates climbed further in 2021 and remained elevated through 2022.
The sharp reversal is a major political victory for Trump, who made restoring law and order a central theme of his 2024 campaign.
“There are new crime statistics that show crime is plummeting,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a recent press conference. “Law and order is back in America under President Trump.”
Leavitt cited Politico’s recent coverage of a Reason magazine article by reporter Billy Binion, who wrote that 2025 could “see the lowest murder rate ever recorded.” Binion acknowledged that the year isn’t over, but added: “The initial numbers show a record low is within the realm of possibility – an amazing turn of events, particularly when considering the murder increase five years ago, which at times felt apocalyptic.”
The Trump administration has credited its aggressive stance on illegal immigration and criminal enforcement for the falling crime numbers. Officials have emphasized efforts to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens as part of the broader crackdown.
In April, the White House publicly displayed posters of 100 arrested illegal aliens, listing serious charges such as “sexual assault of a child,” “sex with a minor,” “murder,” and “rape.” The official Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) account on X has also shared mugshots and crime details of detained individuals.
The administration’s message is clear: lawlessness is being replaced with accountability – and the numbers appear to back it up.

The laws have been in place all along. All it takes is actually enforcing those laws. Why would anyone want illegal, unvetted people in their country? The politicians that allowed this to happen have mainly been from one party, when will the voters wake the heck up and stop voting for failing policies that damage our own nation? Riots, beatings, murders have all gone unpunished in many cases, including police officers being run over with vehicles. America raised the drinking age to 21 from 18, why wasn’t the voting age also raised to 21?

Reflecting on former President Biden’s complete support of Law and order, I do not think he is the one who advocated for “Open Borders”, he made the invitation, which we all heard, but was he competent to know what he was actually inviting into our country.

Someone must be playing with the numbers and hiding things under a different header because I can assure you that it still takes the first 15-20 minutes of the local news to cover all the murders in Atlanta for one day.
The declining murder rate is good news. But it also declined in 2022, 2023, and 2024. And to credit a crackdown on illegal immigrants for the declining murder rate is just not true. Native-born Americans have a higher homicide rate.
Seems like the crime rate is very high to me this year since Trump was elected. Thank God that the guy in Boulder,Colorado was unable to buy a gun like he wanted to. Something is working on this side of gun control. The protests are getting more and worse since Feb 20th, and Trump pardoned 1500 people that attacked the Capitol Jan 6th & that set the tone for more protests & certainly did not back the Capitol police & the judges and juries that found the Jan 6 the group guilty.

Think it might have more to do with the fact that the weather has been pretty mild temps wise across the country or simply perhaps that rising costs may have more people at home rather than being out and about clubbing or attending other venues where alcohol and other substances flow?
