Civil Rights Award for Violating Civil Rights – What Next?

Just when you thought madness did not come in other flavors, Maine’s arch-progressive, unapologetically belligerent, anti-civil rights governor, the shameless Janet Mills – who pushes men into girls locker rooms, bathrooms and sports – is now getting a “human rights” award from the “Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization.” For upending civil rights, she gets an award.

Analogies come to mind faster than they would to a comedy writer with too much caffeine. The irony in all this is just too rich, so completely surreal, that comedy is the only way to discuss it.

While this Maine governor has initiated or joined a dozen lawsuits against the President of the United States, holding up major money for Maine for no credible reason, and has invited two Justice Department investigations into her behaviors, perhaps more – this takes the cake.

To give Janet Mills an award for human rights, as she disenfranchises half the state, more than that if you count parents of girls like me, is like giving her an award for fiscal responsibility, having nearly doubled the budget in seven years, or for accountability, after a state audit found $2.1 billion in questionable contracts, many sole-sourced, some written after money was paid to friends.

This award to Mills for defending the rights of Mainers is a slap in the face to Mainers, like an award to some governor of the old, deep south for defending rights of blacks he kept from schools, or an award to a governor who took bannisters, ramps, and jobs from the disabled, surreal.

Perhaps fittingly, the other two awardees this year by this illustrious foundation – which RFK would hardly recognize – are no less odd for being recognized.

One is a female DOJ attorney who pushed 15,000 pardons and clemencies by President Biden, and likely thought Biden – like Janet Mills, did – “sharp as a tack” – and who Trump removed for refusing to restore gun rights to actor Mel Gibson.

The other is an illegal immigrant – that is, lawbreaker – who boldly sought to get others to break the law, and then attacked the Trump administration for deporting her and others. Interesting, is it not, that RFK was an Attorney General, who fought against criminals?

The crazy part is that Maine’s governor is getting an award for taking away the rights of girls, at a time when these same girls feel abandoned, disrespected, and endangered. This is like posthumously awarding Titanic’s captain “sailor of the year,” or Alec Baldwin top shot for movie actors, or Maine’s Secretary of State Shanna Bellows “constitutional scholar of the year,” for unconstitutionally taking Trump off the ballot in 2024.

This is like having Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and AOC tie for “most likable female politician,” or giving former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich,  another Democrat, an award for “high integrity.”

So, what does all this really mean? It means that the modern Democrat party leadership, not their rank and file, but those who lead the party, are lurching hard left, have lost their way. How do many Maine parents of girls, or Maine girls, or those who have worked to defend girls, are with this? Not many. But hey, if Barack Obama can get a Nobel Peace Prize for nothing, Mills can get a prize for stripping girls of their basic dignity, privacy, safety, and Title 9 rights, I guess. What next?

Robert Charles is a former Assistant Secretary of State under Colin Powell, former Reagan and Bush 41 White House staffer, attorney, and naval intelligence officer (USNR). He wrote “Narcotics and Terrorism” (2003), “Eagles and Evergreens” (2018), and is National Spokesman for AMAC. Robert Charles has also just released an uplifting new book, “Cherish America: Stories of Courage, Character, and Kindness” (Tower Publishing, 2024).

RBC,

Remember when there used to warnings in the late 50s and early 60s, from the few members of the GOP and genuine constitutional conservative movements of the time, about the danger of the Left marching through the institutions and then using that new control to reshape society and its standards to advance their Marxist ideals? Well very few people in power at the time paid any attention to those warnings. Even as the Left steadily marched through virtually one government or non-governmental institution after another. Now we literally nearly have almost every institution of note that used to stand for one thing, now standing for the polar opposite.

Just remember, all it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing. We, as a nation, effectively did nothing of substance and turned a blind eye for decades, as the Left went about systematically taking control and transforming one institution after another into a bastion of socialist dogma. So now, you have institutions like the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization handing out awards for actions that would have been ridiculed just 10 or 20 years ago. It’s really NOT surprising when you consider how little we, as a nation, did to stop any of this.

Lest we not forget these same mind-sets gave Barack Obama a Nobel Peace Prize before he was even in office. All these awards are nothing but self aggrandizing honors presented by far-left socialists/communists to people who think the same as they do.

Time to get back to the basics with two questions: 1. Do you wish to be ruled as a subject of a statist [read: Marxist] government which controls all people from afar and above as they bow to the will and mandates of the government? 2. Or, do you wish to live as a citizen of a constitutional republic where: If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final.?

Not only was this article written well with details but it also made me laugh out loud with your “comparisons”! A delightful way to make me happy in spite of the left wing lunacy. Thank you, you made my day.

RFK must be turning in his grave, but then we have black “leaders” who dig out MLK when it suits and Nobel Peace Price awarded to Mr. Arafat who was the only one allowed to strut through the UN building with pockets bulging with pistols peaceful man that he was. Now this absurdity is up to Mainers to end it. No one else can do it for them.

Wonder if the ones deciding who gets the awards are siblings of RFK, Jr. After all, they were livid when RFK, Jr. supported Trump and wound up a cabinet appointee under Trump’s administration.

It has been decades since I’ve read John Stormer’s book, None dare call it treason, published in nineteen sixty four. I think it’s time to break out the book and read it again.
The book precludes with a quote from sir John Harrington (1561 -1612), ” Treason doth never prosper, what’s the reason? For if it prosper, none dare call it treason.”

Pretty sick, but so is the Trump Administration for allowing a Kennedy family member to stick his snout under their tent and no, I don’t care if the man has one issue he believes in that I agree with. He is and always will be a state of Massachusetts liberal nanny stater.
