legislationAs an organization that supports life, AMAC is pleased to validate courageous legislation like the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that not only protects life, but also imposes serious consequences on those who do not comply with the law.

October 14th

The Honorable Ben Sasse
Senator from Nebraska
107 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

The Honorable Ann Wagner
2nd Congressional District of Missouri
2350 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Senator Sasse and Congresswoman Wagner,

On behalf of the more than 2.2 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 16,000 and 5,490 who reside in the state of Nebraska and MO-02, respectively, I write to express our support for S. 311 and its House companion, H.R. 962, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

As an unapologetically pro-life organization comprised of age 50 – plus Americans who passionately support the sanctity of life from conception to natural death, we are grateful to see courageous legislation that advocates for the most vulnerable of our society emanating from elected leaders in Washington.

Your bills protect the life of a child who is born alive following an abortion or an attempted abortion. They require health care practitioners to employ the same degree of care as provided to any other child who is born alive and compels them to immediately admit the child to the hospital.

Any failure to comply with the requirements in your bills would be reported to law enforcement officials and violators would be subject to criminal penalties. Importantly, anyone who intentionally kills or attempts to kill a child born alive would be subject to prosecution for murder.

It is sad to acknowledge that we need this kind of legislation in America, but we do. The sobering aspects of your bills underscore the barbaric nature of abortion and the need to fight its existence until it is vanquished.

Thank you, Senator Sasse and Congresswoman Wagner and your brave cosponsors, for proposing such vital and necessary legislation. AMAC stands with you in this fight and we are pleased to offer our organization’s full support for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

Sincerely,
Bob Carlstrom
President, AMAC Action

This bill is a good first step but protections also need to be funded for the child during the weeks and months after its birth.

These protections should also be extended to children whose mother was planning on having an abortion but was later convinced to give birth instead.
