Why Should I Work When I Can Sit Home and Smoke Weed?

welfare from Last Resistance – A welfare recipient called in to a radio show in Austin, Texas gloating about how she gets to just sit at home and do nothing. She claims she also gets to smoke weed. In addition to her gloating, she got on to the radio hosts’ “moralizing” work ethic. TheDaily Sheeple’s video description quotes this proud parasite:

“While workers out there are preaching morality at people like me living on welfare, can you really blame us?… I get to sit home… I get to go visit my friends all day… I even get to smoke weed…Me and people that I know that are illegal immigrants that don’t contribute to society, we still gonna get paid… Our check’s gonna come in the mail every month… and it’s gonna be on time… and we get subsidized housing… we even get presents delivered for our kids on Christmas… Why should I work?… Ya’ll get the benefit of saying ‘oh, look at me, I’m a better person,’ but when ya’ll sit at home behind ya’lls ‘I’m a better person,’ we the ones gettin’ paid!… So can you really blame us?”

If you don’t believe it, listen to the call here:

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that she probably also adores our current president. She represents everything that liberals want in a welfare recipient. She is the logical conclusion of our welfare state. Government welfare isn’t designed to take care of the poor and needy. It’s to create parasites like this caller. And she’s so proud of herself for figuring out how everything works.

Oh, and she’s 32 years old with 3 kids. She says that her husband (or partner) works sometimes, but hey, can you blame them for not working? What’s the incentive when you get these monthly checks (on time no less), and you get to sit at home and smoke weed? Everyone who works for living is just a self-righteous idiot who doesn’t know what he’s missing.

not taking any sides but who says you have to work ?, its her life and she can do what she wants, no one asks to be born into this world, so the way i see it is.. its your life and you can do anything you want as long as you’re happy and another thing.. what’s more important to you.. money or enjoying your life

I am tired of paying for this. I am tired of working so blockheads like this woman can have a lavish lifestyle doing absolutely nothing productive. If I had the option of not paying her, I wouldn’t. Fortunately for her, the established authorities are on her side. I am sick of having to work for nothing because I’d rather be part of the solution than part of the problem. Without people like me, who work, there wouldn’t be any benefits at all. The whole system would collapse and everyone would be impoverished. In fact, according to the congressional budget office, if we continue on our current path, the American economy will colapse in 2027. Timothy Geithner, the secretary of the treasury of the United States, not only didn’t deny this claim about an economic collapse, but admitted there is no plan to do anything about it. Thus, I will do… Read more »

Has anyone verified that this person is who she claims? Sounds like a republican / Fox News fan, acting out their preconceived stereotype of welfare recipients. Numerous studies and investigations fail to find very many cheats. They exist and should be weeded out, but it’s not at the level Fox News portrays. Corporate Welfare dwarfs people welfare.

I have a few of very understandable simple solutions to this. !f corporate taxes weren’t so high in our so-called country, perhaps Romney would not have to send work to factories overseas in order to compete with all the foreign products that most of the people in this country have no problem buying. Especially automobiles by the young people and the rich people! Secondly everyone seems to believe that workers who work as fast food slave laborers do not deserve a descent wage ie. more than $7.50 an hour. Let Mickey D’s raise the price of their garbage food they sell to pay higher wages. On welfare you get $14.00 an hour. Do you see who the problem and blame belongs to. Why don’t we ALL go on Welfare? I am a Christian and born again. God declares to give unto him what is his, and give unto Ceasor what… Read more »

Who was it that said….” The problems we are having today are because the people who WORK for a living are outnumbered by the people who VOTE for a living”

Richard Cimino

Forget the food stamp program. Only give out surplus food like the old days. Come get your cheese and butter, and maybe a little ground meat. I rather deliver these people food then let them scam the system selling these for drugs, cigarettes, etc. Boy would they be pissed, only food for food stamps?

Yeah, all of this started since Obama took office. Right? And unemployment wasn’t a problem until he took office, either. Right? And guys like Romney who make a living destroying the middle class by putting people people out of work and shipping their jobs to China are blameless. Right? But that’s the way the game is played. Put them out of work in a bad economy where the REAL unemployment is about 23%, strip them of their dignity, destroy their self esteem, and then complain about all the people who need some assistance. And we certainly don’t want to address the fact that since 2008 95% of the financial gains went to the top 1% and that the top 5% now control over 72% of the nation’s wealth. And we certainly don’t want to mention that we all subsidize the employees of corporations like Walmart and McDonalds who rake in… Read more »

She should have some pride. Not a burden on all the working people.

Well this is what you get from a government built on guilt. Gee we feel guilty toward all the minorities that the government has trained to be this way. It’s our way to pay them back for the inequities they’ve suffered throughout the years. Grow up you scum bag my parents and ancestors taught us if you want to get ahead then get an education and make something out of yourself. Give them 6 months of welfare then if they’re not working cut them off. No work no vote and no freebies.

Only in “AUSTIN” Texas would this be happening!…..

Please tell me that this is not a real phone call.

I hope the honest and good citizens of her area in Texas hunt her down and take away her bennies–AND throw her in jail for fraud. The taxpayers will still be supporting her, but she won’t be having NEAR as much fun in prison.

Don M.

We put Obama in office and we continue to vote for our current Congressman and Senator to put them back in office to continue to kill this country. Why is it that everyone else’s Senator or Congressman is bad but not our own. We should demand term limits. Our congressman (Oregon District 4’s Peter DeFazio) has been in office I think 26 years. He apparently thinks that no one else in our district is as good as he is. Or is it that it’s just to lucrative to give up the job. That’s my bet. One recent Legislator, can’t recall his name died in office at 100 years old. Are you kidding me. 100 years old. People have been in office 50 years and more. The Founders had in mind citizen legislators. Serve a term or two and go back to your real job. We need term limits. It is… Read more »

The food stamp program should be purged to eliminate all those who are not truly entitled. Give food stamps to the truly needy and not to those who just choose to not work for a living.

It is a shame that man has become so “civilized” that he can circumvent natural laws such as the strong shall survive. This woman would starve to death in a natural setting, as nature intended.

Everyone is missing the point. Has anybody read the Constitution Lately ?

When a government with a long train of abuses and despotism it is their right and duty to throw off such government .

We are past that point . Our rights and privileges as citizens has been taken and trampled underfoot of this government. He and his minions have hacked away and ignored the law of the land and our representatives are just as guilty for allowing him to do it.

Ivan Berry

To just call the woman lazy is too simple. She is a valid product of the welfare state and makes MORE sitting on her butt than she would likely net by working at her skill level even if she could find an employer. That doesn’t take in consideration that someone might need to stay with the kids as well, even though they might do a better job of it than she does. I blame Washington (a terrible namesake city for a great man). Policies and programs from our depts. and agencies and courts and legislatures and of course that president that took the work rule out of welfare by using executive (in)disgression is where the blame lies–first cause. But the way things are going toward total failure for our country, once the new serfdom is established, she and those like her will be of no use to the masters. They… Read more »
