Pelosi Says She’s Open to Overturning Republican Win in Iowa District

pelosiThe Democrat-run House of Representatives is open to overturning a tight Republican victory in an Iowa Congressional district, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday.

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) defeated Democrat Rita Hart by six votes during the Nov. 3 election. When asked about a scenario in which Democrats would unseat Miller-Meeks, Pelosi said it was a “hypothetical” situation but later said it’s possible that it could happen.

“Well, I respect the work of the committee,” she told reporters in her weekly press conference. “I did see, as you saw in the press, what they decided to—and they were following my, as I read it, the requirements of the law as to how you go forward. And how you go forward is the path you’re on and we’ll see where that takes us. But there could be a scenario to that extent. Yes.”

It came after the House Committee on House Administration dismissed a motion filed by Miller-Meeks to dismiss Hart’s election contest.

“The margin separating the two candidates was only six votes out of almost 400,000 cast: less than 1/6 of 1 percent. That’s six votes—not 6,000; not 600; not 60 or even 16—just six fewer votes than we have members of this committee,” Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), the head of the committee, told the panel’s members. She added: “It should not be surprising that any candidate in these circumstances—with a margin this close—would seek to exercise their rights under the law to contest the results.”

Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) said he supported the move to dismiss the contest, noting that Miller-Meeks has been certified the winner.

“Miller-Meeks has won the election, the majority of Iowa has fairly elected their representative. The Democratic majority in Washington should not stand in the way and delay this process any longer and spend taxpayer money on unnecessary legal fees,” he said.

Under the Federal Contested Elections Act of 1969, the House has the ability to decide close congressional races on its own aside from the courts.

“Consistent with these Supreme federal election law and policy, legislative procedure, and Court rulings, the House, in considering contested elections, constitutional provisions regarding congressional authority has at times accepted state counts, recounts, or other state over House elections and membership,” according to a readout of the act.

The House hasn’t reversed the seating of a state-certified election winner in that manner since 1985 when then-Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill (D-Mass.) approved tossing out Republican Rep. Rick McIntyre, who had been officially seated, and instead accepted the incumbent Democrat, Rep. Frank McCloskey.

The more they get away this this crap, the more brazen they become. There is no oversight of Congress except the ballot box. And even that has been compromised as of Nov 3, 2020. How and When do we take back our country FOR THE PEOPLE-citizens, not politicians whose desire is to RULE and GET RICH.
Am I mad? You bet!!

It may come down to an armed conflict in order to take back OUR country. I would hate to see it but there may be no other option short of God’s intervention of course. Pray HARD.

Where were the people in 1969 that allowed such a law to be passed? How is the Federal Contested Elections Act even legal? Where does Congress think they get their authority to not seat a duly elected Representative or Senator? This is why we need to have a Convention of the States. We need to get the garbage out of our government.

Doing a very quick review of the 10th and 11th Ammendments, I do not see how just a law is Constitutional! I am not nor claim to be a Constitutional scholar but I do understand we are a Republic and each state has the right to make and validate their elections without Congress rejecting the outcome. It seems to me that this law needs to be challenged to SCOTUS!

And they accused Trump of being a dictator…they are so much worse and I’m truly afraid of where our country is going and what it will become.

I have long wondered how this woman could ever become a representative from her state, Okay, I’m a slow thinker; or I’m one who has just never understood where even someone from the world of fantasy ans movies could have ever fooled enough people to get her there. I mean everyone knows you cannot live off a freebie from the chocolate factory.

You have forgot she is from Cal and one of the most liberal parts, if their is such a thing anymore. I lived in Cal for 12 years and saw the path the state was taking and got out. She socks the votes with all that pork she adds to the bills. She also panders to Berkley liberal fads and demands.

That’s correct, although I’m still here in Ca. Let me tell you I sure have not voted her in, she probably got in just like they got those two people in to supposedly run our country. The worst she claims to be Catholic that’s what bothers me the most but I have learned to leave it to God and he will take care of her and the rest. Unfortunately I still have to here about her. Ugh!

Founding Father John Adams said: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Democrats have proven multiple times that their party is neither moral nor religious.

Nasty Nancy and her partners in crime thought it treason that anybody would question Biden’s election wins but when it’s a Republican who wins….well that’s a totally different matter. After all, how could a Republican have won when the fix was in for the Dem to win?

Pelosi is open to anything that will hurt a person either named Trump or have an R after their name. She is a disgusting person who is overcome by her own power and importance.
