Schumer’s Ugly ‘Voting Rights’ Gamble

In a Dear Colleague letter last week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer warns that if Republicans refuse to support the Democrats’ unconstitutional efforts to nationalize elections, he will move to eliminate legislative checks and balances by blowing up the filibuster. “As former Senator Robert Byrd famously said, Senate Rules ‘must be changed to reflect changed circumstances,'” Schumer argued. “Put more plainly by Senator Byrd, ‘Congress is not obliged to be bound by the dead hand of the past.'”

And by the “past,” Schumer means only a couple of years ago when he led a record 300-plus filibusters during Donald Trump’s presidency. In 2005, when Republican George W. Bush was president, Schumer, coincidentally, also warned that eliminating the legislative filibuster was a “doomsday” for democracy. “The checks and balances which have been at the core of this republic are about to be evaporated by the nuclear option,” Schumer said. “The checks and balances which say that if you get 51% of the vote, you don’t get your way 100% of the time.”

Indeed. And to avoid looking like a conniving, power-hungry, partisan hypocrite with absolutely no respect for the institution he serves, Schumer rationalizes his assaults on norms by pretending the nation faces an existential threat to “democracy.”

And so, Schumer has fused together two of the contemporary left’s most cynical and pernicious projects. First, the trashing of the filibuster, part of a broader effort to create a more direct democracy to ram through massive, unalterable policy changes with the slimmest of majorities in the shortest of windows. Democrats attempted to do as much with their abuse of the reconciliation process but have thus far failed. Now, Schumer proposes nationalizing elections by overturning the will of voters and compelling states to adopt chaotic voting regulations that he believes will favor Democrats in the long run.

But no one has a “right” to vote without an ID. No one has a “right” to ballot-harvest. And many Democrats’ proposals, as in empowering the federal government to mandate gerrymandering and forcing taxpayers to finance congressional campaigns, have absolutely nothing to do with voting rights — nor do proposals meant to dismantle First Amendment protections. Obsessed with rolling back Citizens United, Democrats have proposed forcing organizations that engage in political discourse to disclose their donors, creating more bureaucratic impediments for those who engage in speech.

On the voting front, House Democrats have passed a bill that would compel states to count mail-in votes that arrive up to 10 days after Election Day, require states to allow ballot-harvesting, coerce states to ban voter ID laws, induce states to allow felons to vote and mandate 15 days of early voting, automatic voter registration, and online voter registration.

OK, I’ve run out of synonyms for “force.”

None of this is the federal government’s business, anyway. If Democrats truly believe that voter integrity laws in Georgia or Texas are threatening democracy, they would see them adjudicated in the courts, not used as a pretext to further upend the system in a power grab. Most of the state regulations that Democrats claim are Jim Crow 2.0 simply undo some of the anarchic COVID-era rules and reinstate standards that exist in many blue states and basically all Western nations. If we embraced the Democrats’ evolving definition of “voting rights,” we’d also be forced to treat every election before 2020 as completely illegitimate.

Now, it’s unlikely that Schumer will succeed. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema reportedly reiterated during a Democratic caucus meeting that she will not support getting rid of the filibuster. Sen. Joe Manchin doesn’t seem open to the idea, either. But is there any doubt Schumer would do it if he could? Is there any doubt he’s continuing to normalize un-American majoritarianism? Is there any doubt he is willing to destroy the Senate?

It is also obvious that Democrats, having stumbled in their effort to pass welfare expansion and dealing with a slew of presidential missteps, are on the cusp of losing what would be a tough midterm election even if things were going swimmingly. Now that the gerrymandering talking point is (or should be) neutralized, Democrats will have to do more corroding of trust in elections by leaning into the notion that supporting basic voter integrity is racist. I guess you can’t blame the Russian gremlins every election.

In his letter, Schumer compared Republicans who believe Americans should provide photo IDs to vote to “violent insurrectionists.” In truth, Schumer, because of his power, is a bigger threat to the constitutional order than any rando who showed up to riot on Jan. 6. Unlike their actions, his attacks on the system would live on in perpetuity.

Democrats will do whatever is necessary to remain in power and ensure that they never have to worry about being voted out of power ever again. Eliminating the voice of the people, by taking over and essentially doing away with any hope of honest election results, would ensure the Democrat’s dream. If that means lying, cheating, stealing or enacting unconstitutional laws to reach their goal, so be it. That is who the Democrats are. Socialists and communists have always had the view that the ends justifies the means. That the American people continue to sit back and simply allow this nonsense to continue doesn’t bode well for America’s future.

Certainly, Schumer’s threat is a “gamble”. If he follows through, he risks making the Democrat Party a minority party for a couple of decades. He risks losing a large majority of independents, as he should.

It seems as though Democrats whether in the majority or minority are consistently able to control the narrative on Capitol Hill…
I consistently vote for Republicans eventhough most of them are spineless and cave to the Democrats’ demands…
Regardless of Schumer’s past inconsistencies not one Congressman will hold his feet to the fire… something that Democrats have no problem doing with Republicans…

While the 2020 election may not have been “stolen” by the DemocRATs… they were certainly aided by the shenanigans of the MSM and FACEBOOK, Twitter, et,al. that censored reporting news from the New York Post. True Democrats would be ashamed of the hypocrisy of Chuck Schumer. He’s not a Democrat… he’s a scaliwag swamp dweller.

Layers of lies; encapsulated lies, oozing lies, rolling in poisoned frosting with sprinkles of cyanide. Democrats claim that Republicans are an existential threat to democracy. This is quite a SPIN by the obvious fact that we did not have a fair and honest election, Our Constitution has been violated by the current administration, The Bill of Rights has been totally decimated, violated, and scrapped by the democrats/communists, censorship abounds unabated, United States Police have been demonized and demoted, Our Founding Fathers disgraced, Our History rewritten to reflect Marxist Ideals, journalism controlled by a Marxist regime, and a complete reversal of American Values. Yes, that is quite a SPIN; and the ultimate LIE. This country longs for the TRUTH!

Chuckie Schumer is the biggest threat to this country, the democracy and to the prestige of the Senate. Period.

He is all about power, and he is seemingly no better than Pelosi when it comes to ethics. He and his Marxist Democrats are on a quick timeline to lose the majority in Congress because of their stance on common sense issues affecting all Americans. He is part of that cadre of leftists that want to keep this country divided on political issues for selfish personal reasons. What he probably does not realize that his party is finished for a long, long time because of his Marxist viewpoints.

When this kind of tyranny is a regular occurrence in the Congress, why is it that the Supreme Court cannot take the initiative to quash this kind of move before it is even passed? Or even as soon as it’s passed? It’s time for the SC to become more proactive in stopping anti-Constitutional power grabs (like vaccine mandates, open borders, allowing illegals to vote, nationalizing the election process, and pre-trial detention and abuse of political prisoners) instead of waiting for someone or some entity to sue and work their way through the court system. All three branches of government should be held culpable for what’s been allowed to be done to America!

It’s not a “gamble” it’s a bid to complete the communist coup and destroy our constitutional republic and its constitution once and for all. If Schumer succeeds it won’t be another year before we turn into Venezuela. With this bill the Democrats have crossed the line, dropped the mask, and no longer are a part of the civic system of our country but an opponent bent at destroying this country once and for all. As if their scheme to obliterate our southern border and import a whole new constituency that would actually vote them wasn’t bad enough!

Senator Schumer and fellow Democrats are hell bent in transforming the United States from a Capitalist free society into a Socialist State controlled by one party, the Democratic party. By Federalizing the voting process, supporting mail in ballots, ballot harvesting and doing away with voter ID will only ensure socialism. Senator Schumer is a supporter of packing the Supreme Court and would use that branch of government to uphold the socialist legislation should it be challenged.
The end of the filibuster, the passing of the Build Back Better legislation and the passing of the proposed changes to the election laws will certainly end American democracy as we know it, put us on the path to socialism and total control of our daily lives by government.

“Voter Rights” is liberal code that really means —

It’s BALLOTS that count, not actual voters.

Whomever gets the most ballots wins, not the guy who had the most actual voters.

The data verifying 11/03/2020 election fraud continues to increase.

Massive, brazen, in-your-face ballot fraud and ballot counting fraud.

Liberals literally stole our National government.

I think it isvtime to stop the repetition of impeachment petitions. Stop making it almost a daily thing. The sàme people vote the same way over and over each time. What looks like is only the same old minority voting over and over. So stop asking for the same thing aģain and again. You’ve wasted time and learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except bored your uninformed readers. Do you count every vote every time and add them all together each time?

People like Schumer should be regarded by patriotic Americans as enemies of our country who are more dangerous than external enemies like Putin, Kim and Xi. They are all eager to destroy the freedoms accorded to us as individuals by the constitution in order to increase their personal power. Schumer is the most dangerous because he seeks to warp the institutions we have created over 240 and turn them against us. He has the best chance of success because a large number of the electorate is asleep and will not wake up until it is too late. Pray for our country.

let’s be honest: Democrats love power and hate being out of power. Their agenda stinks which is why they can’t win elections without cheating and changing the rules to benefit them. That is what the so-called election reform bills and killing the filibuster are all about. These are just blatant power grabs pure and simple. Also, the democrats have learned nothing because in order to get Obama’s judicial nominees for the lower courts confirmed, they (democrats) killed the filibuster and changed the rules so that only a simple majority vote was needed to confirm them. What did republicans do when they had the majority? Instead of taking it lying down, they expanded the killing of the filibuster to included Supreme Court nominees, which is why Donald Trump was able to confirm three Supreme Court justices. The democrats should learn from history because, if they kill the filibuster with regard to so-called election reform, when the Republicans take the majority, they will kill it to get their legislative priorities passed.

Democrats want to legalize the criminal tricks they used in 2020 to steal our National government.

Ballots will matter. actual voters won’t matter.

Yep, the victory will go to whomever stuffs the most ballots into ballot boxes and whomever controls the counting machines.

The tabulating machines will also switch your vote to the guys you were voting against.

These, and other frauds, were rampant in the swing state big cities.

In Georgia, upwards of 800,000 ballots were stuffed into drop boxes in the dead of night by some 240 paid ballot harvesters. Got them on video. Got their movements tracked from publicly available cell phone ping data. We know where they picked up their “harvested” ballots.

These guys were paid $10 per ballot, according to one of them who is now talking.

Democrats want this to be legal, and make anyone who complains a terrorist to be jailed.

Don’t do it. Call his bluff. When he blows up the fillibuster two things will happen:
1. He can be beaten over the head with it during the upcoming election.
2. After Repubs retake the senate, Dems won’t have the fillibuster to stop the Repubs from reversing all their previous petty legislation.

Go ahead rat faced Chuckie Cheese Schumer, “Make my day!”

Voter ID is a must!!! The integrity of the voting process should be recognized even by the BLIND! I believe that the 2020 election was thoroughly infiltrated by fraud. But there was 4 years in which covering up that fraud was planned in such a way that only 100% Voter ID Laws could have proven that fraud. Any True American & Patriot should have no objections to proving they have a Right to Vote. It’s only those who wish to subvert the system who argue against such measures!!!!
