Smith & Wesson Hits Back on Democrats’ Gun Blame

WASHINGTON, DC, Aug 22 — The mainstream media loves it when a miscreant uses a gun to commit a crime so they can “prove” that “guns kill.” The vast majority of politicians who identify as Democrat are also apt to spread the news so they can promote legislation that restricts gun ownership.

But we rarely, if ever, hear about the good guys and gals who successfully used a firearm to defend themselves. Yet, “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on defensive gun use has found that Americans use their firearms defensively between 500,000 and 3 million times each year. There’s good reason to believe that most defensive gun uses are never reported to law enforcement, much less picked up by local or national media outlets,” says the Heritage Foundation.

The Heritage report also shows that while the great majority of law-abiding gun owners purchased their weapons legally, using their real names, the U.S. Department of Justice tells us that a handful of criminals — just 7% — purchased their guns legally using their real names. Additionally, 56% of them stole their weapons and 43% bought them on the black market.

The illogical “Defund the Police” movement and the pandemic crime wave have prompted more lawful citizens to take defensive measures and FBI statistics show that more and more of us are in the market for guns as a result. Their records show that at the height of the COVID lockdown the FBI was processing record numbers of firearm background checks — the most ever since they’ve been keeping records. For example, in just one week in March of 2021, the FBI was processing some 1,218,002 legitimate background checks.

Apparently, the Democrats who control the House Oversight and Reform Committee could care less, judging from its determination to hold the 170-year-old gun makers, Smith & Wesson, accountable. The Committee has subpoenaed the company allegedly to get more information on its MSR, modern sporting rifle and they want to question CEO Mark Smith.

The summons sounds like an attempted perp-walk that seems to make a not-so-subtle accusation. It prompted Smith to issue a public statement accusing the “politicians and their lobbying partners in the media” of trying to disparage Smith & Wesson. “Some have had the audacity to suggest that after they have vilified, undermined and defunded law enforcement for years, supported prosecutors who refuse to hold criminals accountable for their actions, overseen the decay of our country’s mental health infrastructure, and generally promoted a culture of lawlessness, Smith & Wesson and other firearm manufacturers are somehow responsible for the crime wave that has predictably resulted from these destructive policies. But they are the ones to blame for the surge in violence and lawlessness, and they seek to avoid any responsibility for the crisis of violence they have created by attempting to shift the blame to Smith & Wesson, other firearm manufacturers and law-abiding gun owners.”

It’s worthy to note that hardest hit by the surge in gun crime are those cities under Democratic rule — havens for career criminals, as Smith described them. Meanwhile, he said in his public statement: “To be clear, a Smith & Wesson firearm has never broken into a home; a Smith & Wesson firearm has never assaulted a woman out for a late-night run in the city; a Smith & Wesson firearm has never carjacked an unsuspecting driver stopped at a traffic light. Instead, Smith & Wesson provides these citizens with the means to protect themselves and their families.”

I’m a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment. I was a part of that wave of new registered gun owners during Covid and the ANTIFA and BLM riots. I firmly believe people kill people and do not agree to hold gun manufacturers accountable. So if I use my Hammer or other types of tools to cause harm will the government hold those manufacturers accountable? This is ridiculous and mainstream WOKE media and progressive liberal want to take our gun rights away. God help me, I live in CA too. We all need to take a more active role and stand up for our rights.

Disarming the law-abiding has always been dems convoluted way of “saving lives” as they put it. Meanwhile the killing of unborn and the just born seems to bear no resemblance to those kinds of life.
These grandstanding politicians and bureaucrats who pass judgment and blame on others when their failure to legislate evil never works.

That any Judge in this country allows lawsuits against any gun manufacturer for a criminal’s use of an illegally obtained firearm he or she uses in the commission of a crime is in itself a demonstration of how messed up our legal system has become. If someone steals a car and then uses it to mow down a bunch of people on the street, is the manufacturer of the car somehow liable for the actions of the person that stole it and used it to commit a crime? The very same “woke” Judges that see nothing wrong with targeting gun manufacturers would all throw out any case against a car manufacturer, where someone used a stolen car to commit mass murder. The cognitive disconnect that is taking hold of far too many people in authority in this country, in their quest to be politically correct at all costs, has to be reined in by some means.

The ” Defund the Police ” movement as well as the well orchestrated ” Plandemic “, compliments of CHINA, not forgetting the overall socilistic agenda Washington, DC is operating under with the addition of CRT in most US public school curriculums, the US military & all ( 3 ) branches of US government should be an eye opener for anyone paying even the least amount of attention today…
Washington, DC & those NON-elected officials, i.e. bankers, corporate America & certain wealthy individuals are the ones actually running the show in DC & until that aspect is challenged or better still, outright removed, nothing will ever change in Washington, DC…
The American people are the ones left holding the bag because of these corrupted individuals that think they can do as they please with ZERO consequences…

When a criminal kills someone, it’s always the gun…when a cop kills someone, it’s always the (trigger-happy racist) cop. This is what the MSM would have us believe. Sad

A good guy with a gun is the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun.
The 2nd Amendment Reads: A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
This Amendment is as straight forward as any of the Amendments, it leaves no wiggle room for alteration without a vote of the people and ratified by 3/4 of the States.
Be prepared to fight like you are the 3rd monkey on the Ramp to the Arc, and Brothers and Sisters it’s starting to rain.

Every time the morons in Washington try to pin the blame on a gun manufacturer, especially S&W, I end up buying another handgun. This is really getting expensive and I would appreciate a little relief here. How about you people in Washington get real and take a long look at the true cause of crime on the street.

The socialist democrats are masters of the blame game. If we truly are concerned with people dying, let’s outlaw vehicles. Innocent people die in vehicles every year. But then a car, truck or motorcycle can’t actually kill someone on it’s own, it takes the hand of an individual that is usually irresponsible.
