House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) joined Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), and Members of the China Task Force at Wednesday’s leadership press stakeout to discuss holding China accountable for lying about the Coronavirus and jeopardizing thousands of American lives. Whip Scalise thanked the China Task Force for their report outlining how Congress can take action to confront the Chinese Communist Party for their role in the COVID-19 outbreak.
Whip Scalise also blasted Speaker Pelosi for the Heroes Act 2.0 – a socialist wish list with no chance of becoming law that’s chock full of shocking provisions completely unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yes, we must hold China accountable for the world-wide destruction they have done with their obfuscation surrounding the Wuhan Virus. However, any legislative action we could or should do to demonstrate the resolve of the United States in this matter is on indefinite hold at the moment. Until and if the control of the House can be re-taken from the Democrats, along with maintaining control of both the Senate and the White House, nothing will get done. Simply put, the Democrats will enact nothing that would either harm China or benefit Trump. The outcome of the November elections will determine what, if any, actions the United States will take against China.
If we re-take the House and hold both the Senate and the White House, then maybe some of the many recommendations in the House report will be able to move forward. However, if things even remain the same in Washington, with us controlling the Senate and the White House, nothing will be done. Again, the Democrats love socialist / communist governments and China is the largest, most powerful communist power on the planet. So as long as the Democrats have ANY control within Washington, the chances of a meaningful response towards China remains nil.
Worst case, if the Democrats take both the White House and both chambers of Congress, not only will any thought of a response against China be quickly forgotten, but we will quickly return to the pre-Trump era of allowing China to take us to the cleaners all across the board and we will become a second rate power with China dominating the world stage.
