Democrats Have Egg on Their Faces

After four years of runaway inflation under Joe Biden, Democrats and some in the corporate media have just recognized that grocery prices are a serious problem for everyday Americans. But as Democrats attempt to pin blame for this crisis on President Donald Trump – who has been in office for less than three weeks – they are only further exposing how failed liberal policies led to high prices in the first place.

Democrats have latched on to the price of eggs in particular as they scramble to mount some sort of opposition to the early success of Trump’s second term. In a post on X late last month, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated, “President Trump owes American families some answers about what he is going to do about the high price of eggs that’s being exacerbated by Bird Flu.”

As conservative podcaster Stephen L. Miller was quick to note, Schumer never once complained about the price of eggs when Biden was in office. But other Democrats and legacy media outlets nonetheless took Schumer’s lead in attempting to manufacture a controversy over egg prices.

In an open letter to Trump, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, alongside 19 other Democrat legislators, attacked the president for focusing on “mass deportations” and not doing enough to address high grocery costs. Liberal bloggers like Brian Taylor Cohen, Brian Krassenstein, and Alex Cole joined in as well, blaming Trump for the high price of eggs and the overall high cost of living.

Indeed, egg prices are unusually high. According to the Consumer Price Index, “egg prices increased more than eight percent from November to December… the average cost of one dozen Grade A large eggs in December across the U.S. was $4.15, up from $2.52 at the start of 2024.” The Department of Agriculture also predicts that prices could increase as much as 20 percent over the next year and will “continue to experience volatile month-to-month changes.”

However, the Democrats’ line of attack seems misinformed at best and outright dishonest at worst. Schumer’s initial attack came only seven days into Trump’s second term. The price increases on eggs and everything else occurred when Joe Biden, not Donald Trump, was in office. In fact, as high as the price for a dozen eggs is now, it is still well below the record high of $4.82 reached in January 2023 under the Biden administration.

Moreover, the high cost of eggs, in particular, is a direct result of two Democrat policies.

First, so-called “cage-free” laws enacted by ten states mandate that chickens be allowed to move freely while producing eggs. Though proponents of such laws argue they make farming more humane, farms are also forced to use more land less efficiently, raising prices. While cage-free laws may be well-intentioned, they also have undeniably increased costs for egg production, costs which are then passed on to consumers. Several states are already considering repealing their cage-free laws.

Government policies on the bird flu are also to blame for rising egg prices. Bird flu cases have skyrocketed in the United States in recent years, and according to USDA rules, the entire flock must be destroyed if even a single chicken is found to have bird flu.

As a result, the Biden USDA ordered the culling of 100-150 million chickens. The additional costs of disposal and sanitation, as well as the time necessary to bring new egg-laying chickens into maturity, also caused a sharp supply crunch, which increased the overall price of eggs. Critics have argued that there are methods to prevent this mass killing of birds, which the Biden administration has refused to consider.

Notably, agriculture experts also believe cage-free laws dramatically increase the odds of bird flu transmission.

General inflation in every other part of the economy under Biden has also driven up the cost of eggs. From the electricity used to power chicken farms to the diesel fuel used to transport eggs to supermarkets, everything in the United States is more expensive thanks to trillions of dollars in frivolous spending over the past four years.

Trump has already taken decisive action to reduce this spending, including creating the Department of Government Efficiency, which has so far saved the government tens of millions of dollars per day on average. Trump also declared a “national energy emergency” on his first day in office, taking the first step to deliver on his promise of increasing domestic oil production – a move that will ultimately bring down the cost of fuel and, by extension, everything (including eggs) that is transported on trucks, trains, planes, and ships.

But the reality is that spending has a delayed impact on inflation, meaning that Americans can expect elevated prices for the immediate future until Trump’s policies have time to take effect. Most Americans seem to understand this, a fact reflected in Trump’s record high net approval rating.

Democrats, meanwhile, seem content to have a talking point, disingenuous as it is, that at least rallies their base in opposition to Trump. But like the eggs they are so fixated on, that talking point looks to have an expiration date.

The Democrats are just desperate to find something, anything at all that they can get political traction with the American people to use as a springboard back to power ahead of the 2026 midterms and then the WH in 2028. The Democrat Party doesn’t care one bit about inflation or any of the other problems created by the Democrat Party and the Biden administration over the last four years. They just want their power back via control of one or both chambers of Congress. All so they can stop the Trump agenda dead in its tracks and impeach President Trump for whatever fanciful lies they can dream up. After which, they would quickly pivot back to reinstituting every single failed policy of the last four years and plunging the country back into darkness and despair of the Biden years.

At some, in the not-too-distant future, the majority of the American people need to realize the obvious realty that has been staring you in the face for decades. That the Democrat Party is simply America’s Socialist / Communist Party by another name and as such, it is against every constitutional principle this country was founded on. As such, it would be utter insanity and national suicide on the part of the American people to ever consider empowering such individuals to ever hold seats of power in this country again.

I don’t know if Mr. Shirley noticed in the early part of the article that he used eggs and scramble as a pun. But I sure as heck did!! Lol. Anyhow I’m the most happiest on our federal governments leadership in.my entire life!! (I’m 66) I love the fact that every Democrat is running around like chickens ( lol) like their heads are cut off yelling the sky is falling the sky is falling because Tthe Trump administration is exposing their real identity. Sick and tired of old goat Schumer laying blame on Trump regarding egg prices when nothing was said the same under crooked Joe. Funny! Egg prices were just as high before crooked Joe left office. Huh! Upchuck Shumer. Where were you before Trump took over? Tired of your hyporsey

The words Democrat and liar are now almost interchangeable. Calling a Democrat a liar is redundant. It is now impossible to believe any Democrat when they take the oath of office!

Chuck Schumer is a perfect example of DEI hiring. Obviously does not have the experience for the knowledge to be in the position that he is in. He was given the job because he’s some sort of a closet sexual pervert has proven by the red reading glasses he always wears but he never uses. The Democrat Party is coming out firmly in favor of waste Fraud and Abuse in the US government, I think now they are guilty of insurrection and treason after refusing to obey a lawful order from the president of the United States. Let the arrests begin an imprisonment without legal representation as well. Come to think of it we could solve the climate change problem at the same time of all the Democrats we just quit breathing

Even though egg prices are high now – when you can find them – they are still lower than they were in the past several years. I paid almost $9 a dozen at Wal-Mart at the highest prices. I paid $6 a dozen the other day at a local grocery store. Remember when people were going to decorate potatoes at Easter time instead of eggs because the egg prices were so high? That was under the last administration. Their tactics were nefarious! Their so-called 10% or 12% inflation rate was grossly understated. I can name numerous items that went up 50-100%…..

The blame game continues. As much as I would love to “egg” the Demos, it will cost too much. We will have to see how this new administration can bring high prices down. Of course, the administration will have to continue to nullify the Demos blunders. Will the 50% of the population finally wake up — doubtful at this time.

Too bad these Democrat politicians don’t have an expiration date! They expect Trump to fix in a few days what Biden messed up for 4 years.

Who would they be blaming ,had they not had Trump. or perhaps high prices would go unnoticed, as they are a result of their own insane policies. Price of beef is the same I do not know what the state of withering dollar store quality vegetables is to be blamed on, Had they forgot the price of bread? Perhaps we could eat cake. When you have to feed and house extra non productive millions someone has to suffer for it, it sure is not any of the big mouthed bleeding hearts .Ask them to open their own purse and see them having a seizure. Trump has a job of Sisyphus .

Suddenly the Democrats have discovered the price of groceries, after telling us how good things were over the past four years, and how Bidenomics was working.
Pathetic!

If it weren’t so sad, these democrats would be laughable. Unfortunately, they have made a mess of the entire country and refuse to accept responsibility for it. They are so incredibly ignorant, they really should be barred from holding public office

Democrat’s desperate slanders, mistruths and outright lies aside, all that’s going to matter here are the results that the average American will see at the end of Trumps term! Realizing they’ve missed the boat; Democrats will eventually begin to co-opt some of Trump’s policies as their own!

Are you sure that’s eggs on their face? Looks a little brown to me plus considering the location their heads spend much of the day talking out of!

Eggs, smeggs. This is all about gaining and keeping power. The Dems are not what they used to be. No longer a possible alternative to Repubs. Now they are the enemy. Folks need to open their eyes and get their heads out of their rears and start paying attention. If the Dems regain power on the same level as this past cycle, you can most likely kiss America good bye as we know it. If you are a Dem and don’t see this, you are a big part of the problem and need a brain enema. If you are a Repub and think we are on the rosy road to success, don’t be fooled. It will take your work, word, prayers and efforts to keep the path clear. As old as I am, I doubt I will be around long enough to see either the success (fully) or the failure (fully) and I have to take some of the blame as well. But, rather than be like me, be better. Preserve this Republic, not only for your children and later generations, but for the sake of a world gone mad with no other example of good around. Eggs Smeggs…..it’s about power plane ans simple. MY opinion, old and grey, and mine alone. Thanks for listening.
