If you missed the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, there is still some good news. You may still have an opportunity to change your plan next year during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period if you are not happy with it.

Many people do not know about this election period, but the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP) runs from January 1st-March 31st. If you are dissatisfied with your current Medicare Advantage plan, you can make a one-time change during this time.

  • You may use this election period to change your Medicare Advantage plan to another Medicare Advantage plan with or without drug coverage.

OR

  • You may drop your plan completely and go back to Original Medicare. If you drop your plan, you will be able to pick up a stand-alone prescription drug plan.

If you make a change during this time, your new coverage will start on the first of the following month. Remember, this is a one-time change available only to those who are currently a member of a Medicare Advantage plan and are unhappy with it.

So…. Medicare has again slapped me in the face by taking another benefit away! Due to dense breasts, when I go for a mammography, my doctor schedules a sonogram in tandem. This allows the doctor who analyzes the results to have the best items to come to a conclusion of the best read. Medicare has deemed ,as of last Friday, they will no longer pay for mamo/sono on the same day.

I worked in a government job for years at reduce pay so I would be able to take my health benefits with me upon retirement. As a result, I cannot take an Advantage plan or I will lose my existing. This is what the the Biden Admin has given me!!!!! Not a fan to say the least!
