I read ratings reviews especially those for the ones who claim to have great ratings to check out the lower ratings comments because those tell me about issues dealing with the insurance for claims and how they really relate in response to clarifying questions. One thing I hate is having a non-answer to a specific question regarding my coverage limits. I chose coverage for my needs not to make profit for the insurance. I know that any medical treatment beyond the listed coverage has a higher cost so I should know upfront what my out of pocket costs will be. Because today even doctors want payment upfront. So if I can’t talk to person ( not their answering service) who can explain exactly, that coverage is wrong for me. Doesn’t matter what level coverage ( bronze, silver, gold) plan, I look for the best human interaction.
I’m very conservative but I joined AARP and went for their plan. My reasoning is simple, online third-party reviews seem to favor the AARP plan, and I couldn’t find anything on the Amac site that told me who their provider was. On the other hand, AARP documents what I needed to know without having to call a pushy salesperson. It’s sad but as a conservative I’m looking for transparency and if you can’t give plan details on the website, that’s a huge red flag for me. Hopefully you’ll do better in the future for the next wave of retirees.
