AMAC: Top Obamacare Supporter Says Law Was ‘A Mistake’

‘Popularity of the law continues to decline and there’s more bad news on the horizon’

WASHINGTON, DC, Nov 28 – “If it weren’t for bad news Obamacare wouldn’t make much news at all,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens, noting that one of the most liberal members of Congress, Sen. Charles Schumer [D-NY], is now saying the law was a mistake.

Schumer told an audience at the National Press Club that Americans are focused on the economy and so the Democrats “put all of our focus on the wrong problem – health care reform”

Weber also cited the Jonathan Gruber scandal “that revealed the deception used to get the law passed in the first place.  And then there was the discovery that the government inflated enrollment numbers.  And, of course, we quickly found out that we could not keep our doctors or our hospitals as the president had promised.  Now, one of the most influential proponents of Obamacare has joined the growing chorus of critics.”

But, Weber noted, Schumer’s sudden reversal on the healthcare issue is not based on the many flaws of Obamacare.  It’s about the politics of the law, he added.  The senator, Weber explained, pointed out that the principal beneficiaries of the Affordable Care Act, the uninsured, constitute a relatively small voting bloc.

As Schumer put it: “To aim a huge change in mandate at such a small percentage of the electorate made no political sense.  So, when Democrats focused on health care, the average middle-class person thought ‘the Democrats are not paying enough attention to me’.”

Weber said that there’s more bad news on the horizon for Obamacare.  For example, he said, penalties for ignoring the individual mandate that forces all Americans to be insured are set to increase sharply next year for some individuals and families with household incomes above the $23,850 federal poverty level for a family of four..

The Huffington Post reported this week that: “A family of four with an income of three times the federal poverty level — about $70,650 — would owe around $500 this year, and more than double that in 2015, according to a calculator created by the Tax Policy Center.”

If you are in the higher income brackets, the penalty can be as much as $11,000, Weber added.

The IRS will add the penalty to your income tax bill for those who decide to forego enrolling in an Obamacare program.

“No wonder Americans are opposed to the president’s healthcare law.  In fact, the latest polls show that as much as 56% of the population does not like Obamacare.  And if you don’t believe the surveys, consider the GOP sweep of the mid-term elections earlier this month.  Was it a mandate to make changes in the law?  After all, the president, himself, declared before the vote that his policies were on the ballot and Obamacare is certainly one of the most controversial policies established during his administration,” Weber concluded.

Folks, this is just the opening of the Democrats “Solution” to all the problems with Obamacare. It will be what they wanted in the first place, but couldn’t get even many Dems to vote for and that is Single Payer, or Government Health Care, like they have in Canada or Great Britain. If you think Obamacare is bad, just wait until it all gets taken over by the Government.

Barrack Obama is an EVIL man; he is Karl Marx’s ego in the flesh and intends to do as much harm to this country as he possibly can. He is a Muslim; the people that can’t accept that are blind. He is opening the door for the terrorists to walk right in (they’re already here) and on his command they will strike everywhere inside this country, he will declare martial law, and then declare himself Dictator. In my life, I never thought anthing like this could overtake America; his (idological) progressive predicessors have succeded at taking over the education system… Read more »

Mr. Obama, an educated person, an orator, which catapulted him into the Presidency, but the most deceitful person ever to occupy the White House, who claims to be a Constitution authority but who completely ignores it, knows nothing about America’s history nor it’s customs, is totally focused on his true intentions…the power to bring America to her knees, to destroy her standing in the world; then he can leave office feeling very successful: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

The man in oval office is an “usurper”! He was raised an Islamist by his step-father, Lolo Soetoro and raised in Indonesia. He had to become an Indonesian citizen in order to attend school there. He is the most liberal president in the history of the U.S. and has shown his disrespect for our U.S. Constitution by his most recent E.O. involving bypassing Congress on immigration. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against immigration, I’m against lawlessness and that’s exactly what Obama has shown, repeatedly. The Republicans who were recently elected and will be sworn into office come January had… Read more »

Dear ICARE God bless you and your wonderful article, and I am with you 100%! It seems the Democrats almost always come out with a new “ploy” whenever things don’t go their way, as a means of getting the people to think that they are actually admitting their errors, but when in fact it’s a way to “confuse” the population once again! And those who always vote Democrat anyway must take note that they need to wake up and see things for what they actually are…especially those who will vote to continue their “freebies.” This administration, to me, has made… Read more »

Did I miss something? I don’t see anyone anywhere connecting the dots between the ACA and the new E.O. amnesty plan? Let me connect them for you. Our history in recent years bears this out. It is still early in the 2016 election process. So, as has happened so often before, get the “bad” stuff out in the open and talked about now. Let ALL the rage get vented. Yes, the DEMS lost, but it doesn’t matter to them. Make apologies with guile. Lie, lie, lie. If you say it often enough, it will be believed. They still believe and… Read more »

Has anyone ever wondered why we, as the GREATEST country on earth, ever allowed a hateful, demonic, spiteful, narcissistic, socialist psychopath to easily waltz right in and assume control over every aspect of American life as we know it? I ask myself that question everyday, followed by : What are we, as people who claim to love this country, prepared to do about this malodorous situation, to regain the freedom that our constitution provided for us so many years ago? It appears to me that our Founding Fathers made provision for dealing with any malfeasance such as what we are… Read more »

Jon Gruber’s public admission that Obamacare was passed as a lie mandates that the “law” be repealed, not “fixed” !!! … It seems that the only “good” politician is a dead one … Keep electing “Reasonable Doubt” attorneys and the truth will ALWAYS be colored grey not white. Chucky Schlmiel is the best example of that! … Thank you New Yorkers! … But then again, Jon Gruber proved that it really doesn’t matter because the majority of Americans are really “stupid” since we seem to be so gullible to these “silver-tongued” liars! Amnesty will only cement that thinking! When is… Read more »

I find no fault whatsoever in what PAULE has said as it all “stands to reason.” There is truth in what RIK and Blueslite have added, as well as likelyhood that PTAB’s “opinion” is also true. The “Medicare for all” could even be extended to ” V.A. care for all,” given the chance. The only statement that I do question is Truthbfree’s that the progressives’ ultimate goal having always been a single payer govn’t run system. It seems that “single payer” is just another (albeit a large one) incremental step to total dependancy of us serfs on an all powerful… Read more »

I cannot see where affordable health care is a bad Idea. But and there is always a but! The federal government takes rights away from states and local governments. Most all believe no one should be turned away from needed medical care. On the other hand government should not be dictating policy to us as citizens we should be telling the government what to do! There have been serious problems the Democrats create and I can start stating those problems right off the top of my head from the 60s and on. If we were to look at just how… Read more »

These people have no more information now on obamacare than they did when they pushed for and voted for the law. They are now looking ahead to the 2016 elections and are trying to distance themselves from the very law they voted for up until their election losses this year and are now running scared. They are nothing but a bunch of lying, self-serving @#$%$#s that want your vote and the citizens be damned.

People are missing Chucky Babies message in his statement. He blames the rollout on the government not doing a good enough job in implementing it.He still believes in Obamacare,he just thinks government should play an even bigger role in it.He thinks government didn`t do enough. When he states that it was a waste of time to focus on obamacare,he means the time spent on it didn`t accomplish what they the Dems were wanting to achieve. He still wants it,he is just trying to say it should have been done differently when rolling it out.He believes that government needs to be bigger in order… Read more »

This article ties in nicely with Hillsdale College’s November issue of IMPRIMUS. ACA is much more damaging than anticipated because of the supporters failed to consider the long-term affect on the labor market. Try to get the issue. It’s worth your time and effort.

Since the Supreme Court decided that Obamacare is a TAX, then we should be able to claim the full amount we’ve paid into it under Miscellaneous Taxes on a Schedule A, instead of lumping it in with Medical Expenses where you are only allowed to deduct the excess over 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income. Has anyone of our law makers addressed this issue or is the IRS going to arbitrarily make the decision that it has to go under Medical Expense? If that is the case then the Supreme Court Ruling is nothing but window dressing and the IRS… Read more »

Is something missing here? The ACA was sent to SCOTUS for judgment of the “mandate”. Gruber and his merry fairies called the mandate a fee (a penalty for not having HC insurance). Justice Roberts couldn’t find constitutional grounds to force Americans to “buy” a product, so he did double duty, twisted himself in a pretzel, and in the end called the “mandate” a tax, which Congress does have constitutional authority to impose. Question … Since Roberts’ “tax” is levied only if someone does NOT have insurance, how can a person be taxed on something they DO NOT have? And, what… Read more »

When Jon Gruber mentioned “The stupidity of the american voter.” as the reason his ACA shell game would become law, he was not referring to the conservatives. Socialism requires, as Stalin put it, “useful idiots”. Today we call those idiots progressive democrats. The VA health care system is a preview of obamacare.

We, the voting public, need to keep the pressure on those who want to dismantle this country. The Progressive left leaning Democrats got a little taste of true public sentiment in the mid-term election results. You can be sure their memories of it will fade in time and spin it to their favor. When you see or hear any of these left leaning pols espousing for more of their socialistic beliefs, jump on it and don’t let go. The same for the electronic and print media, who influence elections more than any other body. Boycott them and let them know… Read more »
