Going back to his school days, Chuck Schumer was known as a very smart fellow. His brains evidently got him somewhere, as he is now the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, the fourth most powerful position in the American government. He also is the highest ranked Jewish elected official ever — none of his faith has yet been elected president, vice president or Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Not everyone likes Schumer — he is a very partisan Democrat with a sharp tongue — but he is respected, popular in his home state of New York, and generally well-regarded in the Jewish community. The latter was earned through many years of stalwart support of the State of Israel.
But now, with one colossal mistake of a speech, Chuck Schumer has thrown away his community’s high regard and burned some of the essential bridges that buttress his power and position.
Just before March 15, Schumer spoke on the floor of the Senate and denounced the elected government of Israel and its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for him to be overthrown. “The Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after Oct. 7,” Schumer said. “At this critical juncture, I believe a new election is the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process about the future of Israel.”
By coincidence, the next day was the Ides of March, the notorious date when several Roman senators conspired to assassinate the Roman leader Julius Caesar by stabbing him to death. Caesar’s last words were reportedly of shock and disbelief that his close friend Brutus was among the conspirators: “Et Tu, Brute?” You, too, Brutus?
Schumer, despite political differences, was Netanyahu’s longtime personal friend. Even more significant, Schumer knows Israel is engaged in a life-or-death struggle for survival in Gaza with a terrorist Hamas army that invaded Israel on October 7, killing and raping 1,200 persons, many of them civilian women and children, and taking more than 200 as hostages, including American citizens.
Schumer also knew well that Israel had in the past turned over the Gaza Strip and let the Palestinians choose their own government which soon was dominated by Hamas, an anti-Israel terrorist faction living in Gaza.
Schumer knew Israel had no choice after the murderous October 7 invasion but to send its citizen army, the IDF, into Gaza to destroy Hamas’s ability to attack the Jewish state and harm its citizens ever again.
Schumer knew that the civilian casualties caused by the IDF were well below the numbers the Hamas propaganda group was reporting in order to gain international sympathy for Gaza, and that the terrorists were hiding among civilians and using them as shields. Hamas also placed their bases of operation near or inside hospitals and schools — all violations of international law. Schumer was aware that the IDF was, in fact, making historic efforts to protect civilians as it sought to find the terrorists and eliminate them.
Schumer knew all of this, which clearly contradicted the spurious allegation of Israel wantonly harming Gazan civilians, as reported daily by media that are hostile to Israel.
Schumer knew all this, but he had a political problem: it is a national election year, and the far left of his party is vehemently anti-Israel and in some cases openly pro-Hamas. His fellow Democrat, President Joe Biden, is running for re-election, and the Pro-Hamas Democrats were threatening to withhold their votes from the incumbent who had come out generally on Israel’s side. In the Michigan primary and other primaries, a small but notable number of these radicals voted “no preference” to demonstrate their opposition to Biden’s pro-Israel policy.
Understandably, Biden made gestures to placate his left wing, and his support for the Netanyahu government began to shift.
As international support for Israel waned, abetted by Hamas propaganda, Biden finally tried to restrain the IDF from completing their mission at the last Hamas stronghold in south Gaza, as well as force the Israelis to agree to a ceasefire, despite Hamas’s unwillingness to compromise in good faith.
With overwhelming support in Israel, and in U.S. public opinion, Netanyahu rejected Biden’s pressure. The U.S. media had long been conducting an anti-Netanyahu campaign, and so it became necessary for Democrats to strike a major political blow against the Israeli prime minister to force his hand.
Did Joe Biden ask, or even demand, that Chuck Schumer call for Netanyahu’s ouster in a Senate speech?
Or did the highly partisan majority leader, knowing his prestige in the Jewish community, decide to throw his political weight around? Or both?
It doesn’t much matter who caused it to happen. Schumer’s classmate in high school, former St. Paul mayor and former fellow U.S. Senator Norm Coleman, now the head of the Republican Jewish Coalition, called Schumer’s speech a “disgrace,” and a stab in the back. It was likely even worse – it was likely “stupid.”
Placating some leftist Democrats (who have nowhere else to go in November) might regain some base votes, but a far larger number of liberal Jewish votes and pro-Israel evangelical Christian votes are more likely to be lost by this Biden-Schumer misadventure. With polls showing black and Hispanic Democrats shifting to the GOP, this anti-Israel strategy seems obviously self-defeating.
After his final words to Brutus, Caesar succumbed. But after he now says, “Et tu, Chuck,” Bibi Netanyahu, with Israeli voter support and U.S. public opinion behind him, will still be in charge and hopefully leading the IDF to complete their mission in Gaza.
The proper election that will change governments in 2024 will not be in Israel, but in the United States.
Next January, with a new U.S. president, and Schumer reduced to be a feckless minority leader, the last laugh of this sad episode might be heard in Jerusalem.

What a Democrat Party trio: Schumer, Biden and Harris. Schumer sells his soul to help Biden’s re-election bid, Biden can’t remember what happened on October 7 or what office he’s running for and Harris is campaigning for the right to abort fetuses up to the time of birth, which, incredibly, is the Democratic Party’s only winning program. I never thought people like this would have any support, much less run my country.
Schumer and the like should not meddle in another countries politics. How they should govern or how they should wage war. Just like ole Joe perpetuated the war in the Ukraine and is still pulling the strings in NATO. The dems never learn. Ukraine is not part of NATO. All this is weakening Europe in defense and economy. Putin is waiting for all of Europe to go bankrupt. America is close to reaching that status. Schumer should be voted out of the senate. He has threatened Supreme Court justices and now he is interfering in foreign countries just so that ole Joe gets re-elected. Mr Schumer you should be ashamed of yourself for the antisemitism you showed toward your own people. Let us instead call for Christians, Palestinians and Jews to get along. Why not ask for Hamas, Palestinians and Israelis sit down for peace talks. Israel knows that total destruction of Hamas is the only way to peaceful coexistence. Why not call for Palestinians and Christians and Jews here in America to get along. Only our president works both sides in this conflict and that never works. Just like ole Joe is dividing America by calling out Republican voters as Nazis and worse. He keeps forgetting that he is president of all Americans no matter how much he screams at us. Mr. Schumer you are senator for the state of New York not part of the Israeli government.
If he wants to resign from his American Citizenship and go to Israel and become a citizen of their country, then by all means he should do it. But, until that time, he has no business to be influencing the operations of their government in any way. You have to go no further than New York City to see the results of following Schumer’s logic and mindset.

You know the story about trying to outrun a bear, you just have to be faster than the other guy? Schumer’s proof that you don’t have to be smart, just a little smarter than the people you can get to vote for you.
Schumer suffers from a condition not uncommon with some very “smart” people, it’s called a common sense deficit. He also has a common condition among Liberal/Progressives known as “foot-in-mouth disease”.
Chuckie thinks it is wise to court a relatively small number of far left wing Democrats, while sticking his middle finger in the face of a much larger number of moderate Democrats and Independents, who are already defecting to the opposition party.
Seems to me that “stupid” isn’t quite strong enough a term to describe Ole Chuckie’s behavior. I consider moronic or even suicidal to be better terms here.
But hey, if that is how he feels, so be it.
Let us not forget though, it does not matter who votes. What matters is who counts the votes. Every fraudulent vote must be identified and eliminated this year! including those of illegal aliens and felons.

Just another liberal Democrat who is the embodiment of the need for term limits. He’s been in office since 1999 and his current term doesn’t end until 2029! Good ol’ Schmucky may be popular in New York – city, but not too popular Western and upstate areas of New York state. Outside of the cities he is very unpopular. The same applies to his girl Gillibrand. Both of them are so left of center that we more conservative residents despise them. Between working to grab our guns, forcing us to accept corrupt life styles and choices and their staunch support for late term abortions many of us wish we could vote them out of their offices.
I’ve wondered since all this started, why are so many people adamant about the Hamas-Israel war? Help the innocent? Sure. Pray for them? Sure. But what’s with protests and threats against Israel? What would we have said to Gaza if they had rallied against us going after al-Qaeda after they destroyed the towers in New York? Everyone seems to forget that Hamas started this. Okay, I’ll give Hamas credit for wanting to exchange 1 Israel prisoner for 3 (or more) Hamas prisoners (NOT). Is there no common sense left on this earth?

Full disclosure ( and one it pains me to make): Schumer is my senator. The speech he made on the Senate floor was a disgrace. He basically stabbed Israel in the back. It’s a good thing Schumer has no say in Israeli politics or else they would be sitting ducks if Schumer and the rest of the democrats get their way.
Intelligence has never had a lot of bearing on me. Alas, I am not Mensa bound, but IQ among the various standards, puts me significantly above average. But intelligence should relate as to how one uses their ‘good sense’. I have known virtual geniuses, who I would not trust with a child, my car, or alone in my home. Likewise I have known well educated persons with a valid degree, that I would never hire. Not measured in IQ or intelligence is ‘common sense’. In my opinion, once wrangling with and adding the title ‘politician’ to their name … intelligence goes out with the wash, to never be seen again.
There are few exceptions, but very few.

Personally, I pray for the Nation of Israel and I hope that this terrible and un-American behavior of Mr. Schumer’s can somehow be forgiven by the people of Israel and the Jewish population in America. As a Christian, I am embarrassed by what Mr. Schumer’s words and the audacity of his actions, thinking he is somehow justified in any way to insert himself in the politics of another Country, not his own. This just goes to show us here in the United States of America how badly we need to get knowledge and understanding as to what REALLY is going on in the Biteme administration and make sure all of our VOTES are counted. There should definitely be term limits for both the House and Senate. Did you know that after 5.5 years in Congress earns vests you to earn 80% of your salary until your death even if you haven’t been elected again. A salary should be disallowed PERIOD. They should SERVE us but they DO NOT.
Anyway both Biden and Schumer are the Senator in the movie Sin City. Corrupt to the core right down to the corrupt family members also. They are losers and we look forward to their deaths.

I first noticed Representative Chuck Schumer when he was a member of the house judiciary committee during the Bill Clinton impeachment. I concur that he is very enthusiastic and insistent about gaining support for awkward and unworthy purposes.
Senator Schumer should evidently be kept busy with a weekday paper route. Maybe we all can chip in and get him a bicycle.
