Hamtramck, Michigan, a city of 27,000 just north of Detroit, is now embroiled in not one but two election fraud scandals even as Democrats in the state and elsewhere continue to downplay election integrity concerns.
The first case broke into the news in April when Michigan Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel opened an investigation into six individuals, including four Hamtramck city council members and a former city council member, for “a conspiracy to unlawfully obtain access to absentee ballots with the intent to illegally vote the ballots” back in 2023. According to CBS News, those individuals “allegedly worked together during the 2023 election to receive blank absentee ballots that had been signed by naturalized citizens” and “would allegedly then fill in the candidates they wanted.”
On August 11, Michigan prosecutors officially charged two of those individuals, city council members Muhtasin Sadman and Mohammed Hassan, both Democrats, with eight counts, including six felonies. The initial Michigan Department of Attorney General petition alleges that Sadman and Hassan “paid for votes, as well as had citizens claim addresses they did not live at, in order to gain an advantage in local elections.” Other Hamtramck officials are still under investigation in that case.
Just days before those charges dropped, new video emerged of another city council member, Abu Musa, sitting in the passenger seat of a car and handing stacks of absentee ballots to a driver who deposited them in a ballot drop box. On August 5, just four days after that surveillance video was shot on August 1, Musa won his primary election with 1,129 votes – 286 cast on Election Day, 843 absentee ballots. The Daily Mail notes he would have finished in fifth place without absentee votes.
Under Michigan law, people “can only submit another person’s absentee ballot if they are close relatives or live in their home,” The New York Post reported.
While Musa was part of the initial Michigan Attorney General investigation over alleged election fraud in 2023, he was not charged in that case. The ballot-stuffing video from this year was instead discovered as part of a separate investigation by Michigan State Police into Musa over allegations that he does not live in Hamtramck.
As Federalist CEO Sean Davis pointed out in response to the story, “That thing that never happens just happened again.”
Other stories since the 2020 election, when election integrity first burst into the political mainstream as a major issue, further illustrate the persistent flaws in American election infrastructure.
In 2023, for instance, a Connecticut judge ordered a new primary election after “videos emerged that captured a city official and former city councilwoman appearing to place numerous ballots into a drop box in a way that violated state election law,” according to The Daily Wire.
Additionally, last year, Phillip Pulley “pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud, voting more than once in a federal election, and two counts of voter fraud,” according to the Heritage Foundation’s Election Fraud database. In 2020, Pulley voted in-person in one county, applied for an absentee ballot in a second county, and voted absentee in a third county.
While these are the instances where election fraudsters were caught, the real concern is how many similar cases escape detection. 2020 was rife with allegations about voter fraud, most of which were never litigated or fully investigated. States changed voting laws on a whim that at the very least created the potential for widespread abuse.
Since 2020, most Republican states have implemented some basic election integrity measures. Georgia, for instance, passed a law that instituted a strong Voter ID requirement, limited ballot drop boxes, and virtually eliminated mobile voting units. However, glaring weaknesses remain in blue states and purple states like Michigan where Democrats have controlled the government in recent years.
Noncitizen voting also remains a major concern. In last year’s presidential election, Chinese national student Haoxiang Gao admitted to voting illegally after registering and voting on the same day at a location set up by University of Michigan professors. While Gao admitted to the charges after realizing what he did, he subsequently fled the country.
Notably, in this case, the only reason anyone knows Gao voted illegally is because he admitted to it, not because of any measures in place to prevent it. This is particularly concerning given that there are currently about 12.8 million green card holders in the United States. There are also thousands of noncitizens who are registered to vote, and evidence suggests at least some have, as previously reported by AMAC Newsline.
The Michigan scandals are a sharp reminder that election integrity remains a serious issue heading into the 2026 midterms and the 2028 presidential election. While the sting of 2020 may have faded, bad actors are still looking for any opportunity to undermine the sanctity of the ballot box. All Americans, regardless of political affiliation, should be on guard against this existential threat to our republic.

Michigan is controlled by democrats and home to the largest muslim population in the US. This state is a prime example of why mail in ballots should be eliminated. There may be “nothing to see here” according to state leadership but it sure looks like maybe ICE needs to take a deep dive look at Wayne county. Voter fraud isn’t the only crime this state is perpetrating.

this is proof that we need Voter ID laws and to limit absentee ballots to those who are disabled and unable to go to a voter precinct or will be out of the area on Election Day. The Military is the only other group that should be allowed to vote by mail in ballots. Mail in ballots drops should be at the polling place only or the elections office directly. Additionally, voting should only occur on the day of the election and NOT for days or weeks prior and NO ballots should be counted if received after Election Day. People are never going to trust the election process unless these safeguards are enacted. We also need to require that all voter registration laws are applied and that the voter rolls are cleaned up to remove the deceased, those who have moved, illegals are removed, and that automatic voter registration via the Motor Vehicle Department should end.
What is the difference between ANY Blue State election and ANY election in a socialist or communist country? NOTHING, NOTHING AT ALL.

Remember ACORN – the voter intimidators that obama set up…I wonder how many nursing homes and fraudulent ballots they stuffed in boxes. Then in 2020, True the Vote PROVED and video taped hundreds of these cases around the country, but they were pooh-poohed and dropped. We have to go back to paper ballots with Photo I.D. and no same day registrations. I’d like to see proof of citizenship too. It actually surprises me that this exposure in Hamtramck is an issue…Does this SOS want to be elected again? Likely. Where was she in 2020 when dozens of people signed affidavits under oath that they had seen something, been told to do something fraudulent…and the then republican state congress said it was clerical errors! Seems every week there is a new story about fraud in elections. Anyone watching the election returns in 2020 know that there was mass fraud in that election. I am 80 and it is the first time I ever saw states stop counting votes before the night was over!! As soon as Trump’s numbers started growing, 3 states stopped counting. It is ridiculous that so many still claim there was no cheating but many of us will never be convinced that what we witnessed that night indicated plenty of cheating. And why do many think it is okay for states like CA and IL make gerrymandering to greatly favor the Democrats???? They cheat…always have and now it is time to stop them!

Poll watchers told that they were done counting for the night, then kept counting after the poll watchers left. Covering the windows so no one could see what was happening, etc. That is why the Democrats fight so hard against Voter ID. Dead people won’t be able to vote!

In most foreign countries you have to have lived in that country for 10 years before you can become a citizen of that country. People with a green card have been told of that rule and of the consequences if they vote, deportation. And here we have millions of people who walked into this country not being vetted no background checks done on who are voting to pad the votes for democrat candidates. It happens over and over again always with denocrats. Russia Gate is the biggest example of that. It came from the president, and president to be on down. We have known the truth but for those hard core democrats this news must be devastating. The house of cards Obama put together is finally falling apart. Being a senior citizen I have heard many a Democrat brag about how Richarf Nixon lost to JFK in 1960 because of fraud. I might add they were laughing about it at the time. These days they almost never discuss because of our focus on election fraud.
The time has come for Photo ID’S. We need an ID to cash a check, open a bank account or get a credit card, why is voting any less important ?

The voting process should be more restricted and only on 1 day. To make it easier to vote for the working people, The times can be broadened on that “election day” so shift workers and the 24/7 emergency workers have a chance to go to the polls to cast their votes!
Mail in ballots should only be restricted to house bound voters and to military personnel who are on duty away from their residence. It is a privilege for each citizen to be able to vote and we need to protect our right and make all effort to get out to vote. Close up all of the loop holes in the current system and put the burden on the voter to make sure his/her vote is done properly
Election fraud at any level should be a Federal offense with Federal punishments.
Unfortunately… here in South Dakota, we have the same voting machines.

In everything to do with elections the democrats must be watched intently. They are corrupt and no scheme is beneath them.
This story mentions a chinese national student who admitted in taking place in voter fraud. He simply left the USA. Why didn’t our government have him extradited back to the U.S., have him face charges, tried before the court and if convicted serve time in a jail cell. 10 years, minimum. If there is jail time accountability for voter fraud, IMO there’d be less of it.
