The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday night advanced the bipartisan “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act” out of committee in a party-line vote, clearing the way for a floor vote on the issue in the near future.

The concealed carry act, introduced in January by GOP North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson, would allow U.S. citizens with a valid permit to carry concealed weapons in other states that allow concealed carry.

The bill was passed out of committee in an 18-9 vote, according to the National Rifle Association (NRA), which has backed the legislation.

If passed by the House and Senate, it would impact nearly 22 million Americans who hold concealed-carry permits, according to cosponsor Kansas GOP Rep. Tracey Mann’s office, citing data from the Crime Prevention Research Center.

President Donald Trump has also expressed his support for concealed carry reciprocity.

“Our Second Amendment right does not disappear when we cross invisible state lines, and this commonsense legislation guarantees that,” Hudson said in a statement introducing the bill“The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act will protect law-abiding citizens’ rights to conceal carry and travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state codes or onerous civil suits.

“I am proud to see such strong and widespread support, and I will not stop fighting to get this legislation signed into law,” he added.

How about this, if you’re permitted to buy one, you should be able to carry one. Law abiding citizens are safer when criminals don’t know who’s armed.

If only there were such care to disarm and put away a criminal.

It is time that this legislation becomes law in the United States.

With the second amendment , it shouldn’t be necessary to have any permit to keep and bear arms.

While the legislation may indeed get passed by the House, when it gets to the Senate it will unfortunately die. Not one Democrat will vote for it and it takes 60 votes to get passed by the Senate. So sadly, this legislation won’t go anywhere. Just like all the other “common sense” pieces of legislation passed by the House over the last several years.

We need a 60 vote GOP Senate majority to get anything other than the reconciliation bill the Republicans are currently working on in Congress to get to Trump’s desk for final signature. Even with the Laken Riley bill, a lot of Democrats had to be publicly shamed into voting for it in the Senate to get it passed. With the anti-gun, anti self-protection mindset of the Democrats in Congress, this House bill is just DOA.

We must reject the notion that we are “permitted” to purchase and carry guns. These are our God given rights and no government can stand in the way of our freedom to purchase and carry guns. Our “leaders” which has been self labeled, can not allow or prohibit our freedoms. These people are simply our representatives to our own government and this government takes a back seat to The People.

How about national constitutional carry?
There should be no restrictions on law-abiding carry!

I agree, if you are a law abiding citizen you should be allowed to carry in every state! The blue states like Maryland make it almost impossible to cancel carry! But the criminals buy them on streets and the politicians don’t care cause they let the criminals loose when they kill or shoot someone!

Strange….cars kill tens of thousands of people every year but you don’t have to get a drivers license or new plates when you cross state lines…oh that’s right; cars aren’t very useful in suppressing a tyranny!

Hope we can get this through the far-left kooks in the Senate! Which other RIGHT is practiced differently based on your state?

No other of the Amendments is infringed upon by passing home State boundaries. Full faith and credit are rendered to all other documents of licenses and insurances. The intent of those advocating for a crazy quilt patch work of conflicting authorization vs criminalization is to compel licensees to not carry sidearms outside their residences at all.

I am I full agreement with passing this law.
I have had a concealed carry permit for years.

Unfortunate that the only way it passes the Senate is to attach it to something else the Democrats really want.

It’s about time all the States in our Republic adhere to our 2nd Amendment rights to protect our self against ternary and criminals who won’t abide by our laws.
