Many countries have targeted Israel with boycotts, divesting in Israeli companies, and sanctions. Recently, Rand Paul has blocked several bills that give financial aid to Israel.

Should AMAC take a position on this issue?

I’ll be real brief. Israel doesn’t need financial aid from the United States. They have a vibrant economy, that is more than capable of supporting their citizens when the U.N. and certain countries are NOT erecting trade roadblocks against them due to ongoing religious bigotry. What Israel needs is simply free and open access to the global markets, which is what all the boycotts are designed to prevent.

Washington politicians have one response to any issue; throw American taxpayer money at it and hope it solves the problem. If not, then just keep repeating the process and hope something will change. Washington politicians are inherently lazy and stupid when it comes to understanding issues before the drumbeat to “do something” and throw money at a issue takes over. That’s a problem the American people need to address as our deficits continue to increase beyond all reason. However, I am not going to hold my breath on that one.

If AMAC should take a position on countries that have targeted Israel with boycotts, etc., should AMAC also take a position on Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen, or Russia’s campaign in Ukraine or Great Britain leaving the EU ?

Abandoning our allies around the world merely makes the world less safe for all. One type of ‘foreign aid’ the US should halt is welfare benefits to Illegal Immigrants invading the US.

I fully support Israel as they are not only our greatest ally, but also the only country at continuous risk of being wiped off the face of the earth by their warring neighbors. I also support Rand Paul’s call for less foreign aid, especially to countries who are not our ally or where it is simply a bribe…

Stop all foreign aid. It creates resentment & is unappreciated. It fosters corruption at home & abroad. It’s international welfare & stifles initiative & self-sufficiency.

I agree with some who say that we need to ensure that Israel has access to the global market; I don’t believe that they need financial aid from us – but then we don’t need to be sending billions to other countries instead of reducing our own national debt and eliminating the billions spent on illegal immigrants in the USA!

The primary reason I don’t join AMAC is their pro-Isreali propaganda. If they want my donation, support the US and it’s citizens only and don’t get involved in world politics. People who wish to suppost Isreal can do so with their own money.

I’m for supporting Israel to a very reduced level. The priorities must be the reduction of the national debt (yes, even at the expense of helping Israel), the reduction in the size of the national government, and the reduction in federal income tax.

If we listen to the likes of Rand Paul we won’t spend on anything. Just think about how Obama treated Israel, it was disgusting.
Israel is the only true ally in the region so why would we want to cut them off.
If we want to cut off some countries how about starting with the ones that hate us.
Just saying

i truly believe 90% of people do not understand “aid to Israel” all the money/aid given to Israel is spent in the USA it is used mainly for military purposes. in return Israel maintanins a safe harbor for the US landing /shipping/weapons storage and is a safe harbor in the middle east. unlike almost every arab/palastinian aid goes to buy weapons .those weapons are used against free people including Amercans. as it costs Americans hundreds of billions to support troops in numerous countries around the world to keep America safe , more than 20x what is given to Israel . so before you consider your objection to Israel aid. i suggest you look into the many many many countries that have American troops and receive payments for landing rites and you will see Israel aid is a bargain

Our country was created by men and women who wanted many freedoms from their countries of origin, including a freedom of religion based on the Bible. As England was pushing their agenda and beliefs on their people to only be members to the Church of England, those who resisted were persecuted. This included those of Jewish belief.
In coming to this country, all who used the Bible as the root of their beliefs were welcomed, though some had a difficult time.
Old Testament and/or New, the Word of God is the most important part. Support Israel.

I would eliminate foreign aid to every other nation before cutting it to Israel. Israel is a special ally above all others. Rand Paul is very wrong for what he is doing on this.

1Samuel 15: 2-3. God totally destroyed the Amalekites for what they did to Israel. The only reason we as a nation are still standing, because our depravity is so great, is that we back Israel.

There is no doubt in my mind that the USA should be a strong, vocal, ficancial ally of Israel. But..this poll is about whether AMAC, the Association of Mature American Citizens, should get involved and I think they should NOT. The AMAC websites states their mission is….”The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) is here to protect your interests, and to offer an alternative perspective on how to best solve the problems seniors face today. We need you. America needs you.” They should stay focused on their mission and not go championing causes around the world.

I voted UP rkf’s comment that we should stop all foreign aid, and the score went from 1 UP (I think, unless I misread that and it was 1 DOWN) to 0 (Zero). Anyway, when we are $21(?) Trillion in debt, why do we think we have money to give? The best thing we can do is to be a good example. I see far more wars and harm being done by foreign aid than I see good, and Israel is a particularly egregious example. In addition to aid in the amount of about $23,000 per Israeli family, we appear to be fighting wars for Israel – Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Iran – these countries have done nothing to us (the 9/11 hijackers were nearly all Saudi), and are no threat and no importance to us. However, these countries surround Israel, and are their enemies. I see several quote the Bible that we should support Israel … but to what extent? Should we support Israel even to the ruin of ourselves? Should we support Israel even while it does evil? Unlimited, blind support is not called for, even by the Bible. “Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:” ~ Romans 11:20

The founding of our great country would not have been possible without Israel. Our religious foundation came from there, even though some think that it is” freedom of religion” it is not. With out Israel our world would be in chaos even much worse than now. To the United States only should Israel be second, then we may help other countries. We should as a people divest in any country that wants to harm Israel in any way. And we should always support them militarily when ever possible. UNITED STATES first and then ISRAEL until the world learns that the United States and Israel are ONE with GOD….

If we give any aid to anybody it should be Israel. I agree with Paul on some issues, but he is wrong in some cases (in fact several). The reason I am replying is simply we need to eliminate a lot of aid we are handing out. Many countries we give money to stab us in the back often because they think we should give them more. Sometimes they take money from both sides. Those are the ones we need to scrutinize our gifting. I understand some may not want to operate their govenment like the US, but then we have a choice to not support their threatening causes.

The question wasn’t whether the US should support Israel. It was should AMAC concern itself with this matter. Of course, the US should support the allies that support us, but AMAC has a different function and would be well advised to stick to it for the benefit of the members.

YET ANOTHER FOOLISH POLL QUESTION ?
We have more than enough problems that need our attention at home and that is what Amac was created to address, let the politicians handle foreign affairs.
The only possible exceptions would be the invasion of our country by ILLEGAL ALIENS, TERRORISTS and DRUGS imported from other countries – MAGA !

I’m absolutely in TOTAL agreement with Rand Paul.. I don’t know how our country became the World’s Santa Claus but it’s definitely not right and casts a shadow on our intent and worthiness. Every financial arrangement with foreign powers INCLUDING (of course) Israel.. We must remember that as Americans our basic premise is our sovereignty through our Independence. That independence is guaranteed through an unspoken spirit of self-sufficiency and self-reliance.. No way we shouldn’t demand this of our allies.. Otherwise what allies are they? And any insinuation of imperialistic or colonial intentions is of course totally warranted. Why? What for? Where for? Many, many questions are NOT being asked precisely because this IS an aforementioned ally and must be trusted unconditionally otherwise mistrust, paranoia, and (god forbid) ANTI-SEMITISM be suspected..JUST BECAUSE WORD IS GIVEN??? NEVER LET THIS BE SAID.. How naive of the precedents to have established such a gratuitous relationship. How can diplomacy mature and develop is trust is based on availability and access to our National resources. Our FIRST resource should be CONSULTATION at intimate levels of community, regional, national and international involvement particularly where defense is in question. These are totally legitimate questions and unconditional trust should never be an issue.. IN GOD WE TRUST let’s start with the sincerity there and how sincere are we even in that pledge???? GUARANTEED RETURNS ON EVERY INVESTMENT…Israel is not a fledgling Welfare state or colony and has shown responsibility in the past that gratuitous and ingratiating hand outs should never be an issue… IF THEY ARE TRUE ALLIES there should be reciprocity to say the least…

By and large we (the USA) are not liked by our so called allies except we buy their “friendship”. I think this is part of the money laundering schemes our politicians because it never helps the “intended” purpose. Our 1st priority has to be our own citizens. ( Charity begins at home.) So, cut off the UN, cut off welfare to non citizens, and cut off/restrict foreign aid to pseudo allies. Let’s have an Article 5 Convention too.

Israel is no Theocracy. Why should it be afforded blind faith in FINANCIAL ventures..? Which is also stated “the root of all Evil”.. ? Questions arise and they are valid no matter if we like it or not.. Our relationship with God should always be open to public scrutiny and so should Israel’s.. To say otherwise would practically be like casting a shadow on The Protestant Reformation…
