I figure when a group of people who are playing a game get paid almost three times as much as the average working man start crying about not getting paid enough it was time to stop watching. Have moved on from all pro sports except MLB – a lifelong Braves fan and can’ t leave them. Several products and brands are now in the rearview mirror- Coca Cola after driving the AS Game from Atlanta, Bud Light for obvious reasons, Nike will never be bought again, Disney, and others. When it reaches a point that a brand, media, or other consumer products go to a nauseating level, I move on to the conservative ones. Now down to two newspapers and non-network television and limited watching of sports channels. NEVER visit or use social media its so toxic, and each day delete 100-200 internet ads that are impossible to stop. Thank goodness my computer has a porn filter and I don’t have to put up with that. All to say, none of us HAS to put up with the garbage the world is feeding us, Its choice – pure & simple, plus a little effort to cancel them when needed.

I think my hatred of all thing’s sports related started with middle school Phys-Ed trauma, when the teacher would have the popular jocks in class pick their team members, me being an uncoordinated sport ignorant (still am!) student would be picked last, quite a blow to an adolescent’s ego. I do understand those who have stopped watching. I did, too, for about 3 years. This year I have seen & heard multiple players give interviews or receive awards & these young men give praise, glory & gratitude to the Lord for their opportunity to do something they love. They testify to the watching world & I pray that many young people will hear & seek God because these players have used their platforms to spread the Good News!!

It’s absolutely amazing that the league that promotes ending racism with trite slogans (END RACISM) in every end zone would PROMOTE racism by including a (dare I say ‘separate but equal’) black national anthem as part of their festivities. The 49-ers took the best opportunity for Detroit to get into the Super Bowl in the history of the game. I wanted it to be vs. the Cleveland Browns, but that wasn’t to be. So I have no interest in rooting for that team. The Chiefs have been in the last 4 of 5 Super Bowl games. Enough, give another team a chance, for gods sake. The Patriots (good name) hogged it for too long, now the Chiefs. So, I have no interest in rooting for that team either. The commercials during the game all suck, so I don’t want to watch those either. Don’t get me started on the halftime show. Suckland. Maybe next year. Detroit vs. Cleveland, I’d almost buy tickets to that game (not going to pay $xx,xxx to attend though, whether I can afford it or not).
