AMAC Exclusive – By David P. Deavel

liberal and conservative women

Recent surveys show some good news as well as warning signs for people on the right. While both young men and women have historically tended to lean more to the left, newer surveys show this is no longer the case. The good news is that young men are not only not getting more liberal but are trending toward the conservative side. The bad news is that young women are trending very far to the left. And what compounds the bad news about the young women is that conservatives are rarely very good at communicating with them—as the kerfuffle about a recent viral video reveals. The old saying is that Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. The Right needs far less scorn and far more interest in reaching this very important part of the electorate.

As far as the good news, it is indeed good. Writing at the Washington Examiner, Conn Carroll notes that middle-aged Gen-X voters have turned to the right as past generations have. They voted 52-40 for House Republicans in the 2022 election. And among young men, 49% identify as Republicans—an 11-point shift from 2013 when only 38% of them did.

There’s no real mystery as to why young men would be turning this way. Churchill’s famous line about a young man who is conservative having no heart doesn’t fit our age at all. What young man with any heart would respond to the “clear” message sent by Democrats? Carroll summarizes that message as “you are, at best, worthless. Democratic Party programs have empowered women to procreate without you entirely. In fact, most likely you are a #MeToo pervert who needs to be punished, without due process, by a college inquisition board.”

There is much more that could be done for young men by Republicans, but at least they know we don’t hate them.

But what about the women? Surveys show that the percentage of young women identifying as liberal is about 30 points higher than young men. That’s a big gap. Even if, as some scholars have shown, responses to questions about most specific policies (apart from the high-stakes cultural issues) don’t show a massive gap between young men and young women, the reality is that most people don’t vote on the basis of a scientific study of a whole series of policy questions. They vote on a few important issues and, more importantly, on a sense of trust and identification with others.

Some are sanguine, perhaps too much so, about the current divide. Carroll is among those who note that the marriage gap held true in the 2022 election. While women overall vote Democratic, married women vote Republican—in that election by a 56-42 margin. “All Republicans have to do, apparently, to get women to switch parties is find a good man for them to marry.”

That’s easier said than done, especially with the headwinds for marriage these days. But even if a potential matchmaking service (“GOP Harmony?”) were to produce fantastic results (for citizens at the altar and for Republicans at the polls), these results would be a few years off. What can we do in the meantime?

I know what we ought not to do. This week, a Tik Tok video by a young woman who goes by the moniker @supposedlyasystem (reports are that her name is Eliza) went viral, garnering millions of views on X (formerly Twitter). In the video, the young woman complains about working a 40-hour-a-week job to pay the rent on her two-bedroom apartment and having only a few hundred dollars left to cover her food, phone, and utilities. She notes that she is often too exhausted to take care of the chores she needs to do to keep her own life going after work and ends up doing them on Saturday and Sunday. She is almost crying as she cries out: “I don’t know what to do, I’m not made for this! I don’t have the money, time, or energy to enjoy my life outside of work, and I don’t know what to do about it anymore, you know? I’m so tired!”

As with previous videos by young women complaining about the difficulty of being out in the working world, too many people on the Right responded on social media with the kind of scorn that does indeed cause fury. Some called her lazy, whiny, and entitled for her video about how difficult she finds adult life. While many were no doubt correct that her expectations are flawed and her situation could be remedied, the reality is that she is indeed correct: she wasn’t made to live like this.

Modern life is tough on both young men and women. The cultural expectations made by a few generations of increasingly weird forms of feminism and liberal society make for a potent brew of resentments when young women realize that following the current scripts won’t necessarily make you a girl boss—and they likely won’t make you happy. What is remarkable is how the young women in these videos never mention any forms of community—whether familial, religious, or other. Is it any wonder so many of them gravitate toward the left side of the aisle where they are at least told they are valued and given political marching orders that appeal to their sense of being part of something important and taking care of the weak?

What the right needs to do is connect to these young women via influencers online but also real live people, too. Young women need older people to tell them practical things (she might want to get a roommate or two to share rent, food, utilities, chores, and company after work) but also more fundamental things. They need older people to tell them bigger picture things. For one, that they really aren’t made to live for work—and that, yes, marriage is a good thing and not a betrayal of the sisterhood or their own gifts.

Most of all, they need to be told that they are valued. Just as with the young male rejection of the Democratic Party, there are few surprises that many young women look away from the Republican Party when too many conservatives show scorn for them because of their young, foolish ideas rather than affirmation.

Last year a speaker at the University Faculty for Life conference presenting on messaging to young women said that some of the most effective pro-life communication was precisely the most optimistic. Told by the media that if they don’t abort their children, they will ruin their lives, what often convinced them not to were very simple messages like this: “You’ve got this! You can do good for your baby and good for yourself.”

The modern Left tells all young women that things are very screwed up, that they are helpless, and that Democrats will help them. The modern Right too often tells the young women that they are simply screwed up—and says that they don’t want to help them until they help themselves.

It’s much better and much truer to say that there are a lot of things about modern life that are not the fault of young women, but that there are decisions by which they can make things a lot better for themselves. We need to tell young women that they’ve got this, that we like them, and that we want to help them find a better way to live that’s not so exhausting and not so lonesome. Best of all, this message should be easy because it is true.

I was relieved when the young woman made a follow-up video about how mean the reactions were to her plight and didn’t mention anything political. Perhaps there were enough crusty old libs who also gave “get off my lawn” vibes. But I would have loved it if she had mentioned that it was people who were conservative or traditional or right-wing who were most supportive of her.

Imagine what kind of an effect that would have. We are constantly depicted by big media and entertainment as heartless. It’s quite unfair, I agree. But if we’re going to break down that growing gap between right-wing males and left-wing females, we’re going to have to look for the opportunities to show that we have a heart by wearing it a bit more on our sleeves. At the very least, we can show it more when we’re making comments or videos on the internet.

The only thing I can think of is since Obamacare pays for birth control (or am I mistaken?) why does anyone need an abortion? I pay $60 for uninsured motorists to protect myself, why can’t you?

I am a baby boomer. I was brought up with the idea that the success of a family was based on two things… Father’s income and mother’s education. The “Greatest Generation” screwed this maxim by sending their boys to war and their women to the factories. I may be a curmudgeon, but it still seems to be a folly to debate the equality of the sexes. Why would any woman want to demean herself to stoop to the level of a man? Conversely, what man wants to hold the ladder while a modern woman climbs down from her pedestal? My parents taught that marriage was not just a 50/50 deal… it was a partnership that required each to give 75%… that way you had 50% extra to meet all contingencies.

You may or may not appreciate this bit of historical information relative to the person you’ve named yourself after this week, amongst others you’ve called yourself on this site, but here goes just for educational purposes, so you understand where the term RINO comes from.

When Ronald Reagan was running for the GOP nomination against G.H.W. Bush in 1979 to 1980, the overwhelming majority of the GOP establishment in Congress and the RNC wanted Papa Bush. They wanted Bush, because he was part of the “good old boys” club of “go along to get along” types that saw their role as basically the people who would, when elected by the people fed with disastrous Democrat policies and huge spending programs, be voted in once in a while to simply rubber stamp the next round of raising taxes or whatever else was needed to pay for the financial boondoggles the Democrats in Washington created in the previous election cycles.

The problem was the American people, after 4 years of Jimmy Carter and incredibly bad Democrat policies, wanted something other than Democrat-lite or RINOs. They wanted real, positive change to turn around the terrible inflation, high energy prices and numerous other issues the Democrats had created on their watch. So, the American people voted overwhelmingly for Reagan in the primaries, which upset the GOP establishment in D.C. They did manage to get Reagan to agree to select Bush as his V.P. pick under the guise of an olive leaf with the GOP establishment. That would turn out to be a major mistake on Reagan’s part, when Papa Bush was then next in-line after Reagan’s 2 terms ended and Bush preceded to quickly back away from Reagan’s agenda and back towards the standard GOP model. Which of course setup the opening for Bill Clinton to make Papa Bush a one-term President.

Once elected POTUS by an overwhelming margin, instead of the GOP establishment openly embracing Reagan and his policies, that the American people voted for and fully supported, many Republican “good old boys” in Congress worked tirelessly with the Democrats to try and block or obstruct Reagan all through his two terms in office. These old guard players became known as RINOs, because for the most part they supported many of the Democrat initiatives in Congress, if it meant stalling something Reagan wanted to get done. In short, they lived up to the name of Republicans in Name Only.

This is where I will end the discussion, as since you’re someone in their mid to late 20’s, it is highly unlikely you were ever taught recent American history (the 20th century to present) well enough to understand everything that helped drive politics in the time period. It’s not your fault per se, as your teachers likely were more interested in instilling a certain political agenda in your fellow classmates, than teaching you actual facts and the explanations behind the events of the time.

Now here’s an instance when a little lesson in choosing the right president and other elected officials could help her situation. Choosing a president, such as Trump, who believes in lower taxes, a vibrant economy, more affordable medical care, and low inflation would actually free her up to enjoy an evening out with friends or more funds to paint the apartment…or even buy a house! She has learned the painful lesson that people like biden and other democrats do not care about her needs.
People–particularly the young–who spend much time on TikTok or Facebook change the way they see themselves…and it’s not for the better. They compare themselves with others, they feel rejected or ignored if they’re not the center of attention, they feel they’ve got the short end of the stick. Woe is me… What helps is to turn off that garbage, get a job, volunteer somewhere, hang out with smart people, and learn a new skill. That’s how they gain confidence and a realistic sense of living a successful life in America.

Very good article. Conservatives would be wise before responding to her negatively. One would really learn more about her needs by delving into questioning her reasoning about Why she feels the way she feels. She might agree to the fact that she needs a good partner to share her life with. She obviously can’t do it all by herself. That’s why one needs a share mate!!

It’s very hard not to scoff at these young women’s problems. The fault lies in how they were raised, to be pampered and cosseted. With all the labor saving inventions available to most there should be no complaints. Another factor is not teaching history. People in previous generations (pioneer, depression times) suffered much worse conditions. So it is hard to feel sympathy for these poor girls. This is a dose of a reality they aren’t used to.

The gap between the men and women in the survey is being driven by the liberal attitudes on sex and them wanting to use abortion as their form of “birth-control”. Just like most of the liberal agenda, it all boils down to the issue of morality. This compulsion to do whatever they want in the realm of “hooking up” and deal with the consequences of their actions later by resorting to murdering the unborn has become the cornerstone of the liberal movement. It is no different than the ancients sacrificing their children to a statue of Molech with its arms outstretched to catch the child above a burning pit where the infant was roasted alive. It serves the same purpose for them, they want to have their “fun” but don’t want the responsibility and expense of raising a child that they produced.

Even the NBC polls has Trump ahead of Biden. Maybe you can get Bernie to run? But then he’s probably sick of being “super delegated” out by the DNC, huh?

In a nutshell, this is the message conservatives should be sending to young women:

  1. The modern feminist movement is the worst mysoginist you will ever meet.
  2. Men built (and continue to build) the world.
  3. Women built the men (and women).
  4. Building men (and women) is a higher and more fulfilling calling than anything that can be provided by work or a career.

For many many years men and women held traditional roles, raised wonderful families and society flourished.
Then selfishness, envy, and lack of gratitude began the me,me,me generations where many decided that the world had somehow become unfair and stereotypical holding them back from pusuing their dreams.
In reality I don’t believe that was ever the case, from a large family my brothers and sisters had equal opportunity to be themselves and raise families with the same traditional roles.
Seems this like many other ridiculous theories were fostered by the talking heads, and group think, coming out of disgruntled, unhappy liberal institutions.
They began the poor me, blame you and others for unhappiness, un-achievement, and their poor decisions in life.
So that’s my observation for what it’s worth.

Many factors here. First, the terrible lies of feminism, shouting in their ears that they dont need men and certainly dont need to have babies. Who here hasnt known women who heard that from first grade, believed it and focused on careers, only to come out of the ether at 38 with a desperate need for a child. But theres more: many young people never had to do chores. They get into their own place and are not used to laundry, vacuuming etc. Finally, many young men have opted out and many young women have unrealistic standards. This sharply narrows the pool of available mates.

The very first thing I would tell young women in America is that, thanks to the Democrat Party, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and the fake Republicans, there is an unchecked number of single males from under-developed and muslim countries entering illegally across our borders. Consequently, and thanks again to those groups I’ve listed, a young woman’s chances of becoming a victim of crime, violent crime and sexual assault are going up astronomically. And if young women in America need to be told anything beyond that in order to persuade them to change their voting habits, then I’m afraid there is no chance of reaching them. And that is a shame for them and for our great country.

Women are destroying America. They overwhelmingly vote with the Progressive Socio Fascist Democrats who go on to dismantle everything that made America Great. They would rather see America destroyed rather than lose the opportunity to kill their babies. Sad.
