AMAC Exclusive – By Seamus Brennan

gas

President Joe Biden would like for Americans to believe he is doing everything in his power to bring down the nation’s rapidly soaring gas prices—which are up nearly 60 percent since the end of last year. But as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. The President has sought to pin the blame for rising energy costs on Russia, OPEC, and the pandemic. But the blame rests with Biden and his administration’s relentless attacks on American energy.

Interestingly, many on the left do not seem to care that high gas prices are in part contributing to Biden’s dismal poll numbers. The truth is, that to the anti-suburbs, anti-energy left, America’s skyrocketing gas prices are a feature—not a bug—of the Democrat agenda. Despite the popular notion that owning a car and raising one’s family in the suburbs is an inherent part of the American Dream, the left’s coercive and utopian vision requires higher-priced energy in order to justify shifting people from suburbs and SUVs into cities and public transit.

The left’s crusade against the suburban lifestyle has manifested in several alarming ways since Minneapolis and Oregon became the first city and state, respectively, to ban single-family zoning in 2019. Just this year, progressive leaders in California, Maryland, and Maine have taken steps to eliminate single-family zoning, and other blue states are almost certain to follow in the months and years ahead.

Now, Democrats’ outright apathy toward climbing gas prices can be seen as part of this same effort. Democrats want to abolish the suburbs, and they want to abolish the Chevy Suburbans driven by the Americans who live there. High gas prices serve both goals—and it’s easy to tell that the Biden administration agrees.

When asked about the price hikes, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg stated that Americans concerned about gas should simply purchase an electric car so that they “never have to worry about gas prices again.” These comments came just weeks after Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm infamously laughed off reports of snowballing gas prices as “hilarious.”

Like most of their other policies, the left has cloaked their anti-suburban initiatives in the language of “environmental” and “racial” “justice,” and other gauzy rhetoric to disguise their blame-shifting. Notably, Joe Biden’s campaign website calls for the elimination of “exclusionary zoning policies and other local regulations,” as well as suggesting that “housing policy can be used as a tool to battle climate change.” The Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force last year similarly stated that “Democrats believe the government should take aggressive steps to increase the supply of housing, especially affordable housing, and address long-standing economic and racial inequities in our housing markets.” This is a well-established code for the elimination of single-family zoning policies, and other schemes to turn suburban America into densely-populated urban America.

Progressive groups around the country have also followed the lead of the White House in pushing for the elimination of suburbs. The Minneapolis 2040 plan, for example, which outlines the “vision and hopes for the future of our city,” adopts strikingly similar ideas when it repeatedly calls for “transit-oriented development” for the purposes of “reducing greenhouse gas emissions” and combatting “overt and institutionalized racism.”

Translation: they want to take away your SUV, pack you into denser neighborhoods, and shove you into a commuter railcar.

Terry McAuliffe, Democrats’ nominee for Virginia governor this fall, campaigned on breaking down alleged “environmental inequities that have disproportionately impacted Black and Brown communities.”  If elected, his plan would have required a “just transition” to 100 percent “clean energy” by 2035 and a heightened emphasis on public transportation.  Opponents of McAuliffe’s agenda to abolish single-family zoning fought back furiously, including running a two-minute tv ad in vote-rich Northern Virginia.

Despite the left’s lofty ambition of achieving a woke wonderland devoid of suburbs and cars, if progressive leaders – both elected and in the private sector – continue to pursue this agenda, their plans may soon run up against electoral realities. As gas prices continue to rise and more families find that Democrats are openly threatening their ability to live happily in their residential neighborhood, Democrats may find it impossible to win in the suburban areas that were key to their electoral gains in recent years. The country already got a glimpse of what such a situation may look like in Virginia this fall, where a state that voted for Joe Biden by 10 points in 2020 elected Republicans statewide for the first time since 2009. If that trend continues nationwide in 2022 and beyond, Democrats could see their effort to turn suburban swing voters into urban progressives ultimately backfire in a big way. The mythical “suburban mom” (and suburban dad) wants their 4-bedroom house and their SUV, thank you very much.

If the progressive utopia is so great, why must it be shoved down our throats? The progressives are the old Soviet nomenklatura. They live in the lap of luxury while we, the idiots, must suffer.

Where and how is all the electricity needed for this new democrat/leftist utopia coming from? Aren’t there rolling brownouts and blackouts already in California? Didn’t Texas have a power crisis last winter from its wind and solar energy sources? Who is going to live in all the land that is freed up once single family dwellings are eliminated? People like Nancy Pelosi on her estate? Is she going to give up her estate and vineyard to move to town and live in an apartment?

Over 6,000 items are produced from a derivative of oil. How will windmills produce these products? Send them overseas to be made? How much will the products increase in price when there is reduction in the supply of oil? The grand wizards in the Democrat Party are clueless with America and its people in 2nd place. Power and greed the two driving forces!

The fact that gas is becoming so expensive, 100.00 to fill my SUV every week, it hurts our family finances. The fact that Dems are pushing people to buy electric cars that is subsidized to help you purchase them, you need to plug them in at home which certainly eventually will cost owners just as painful a reality when they open their electric bills. We see thousands of Tesla’s being driven now, all of them are being plugged in at night in homes in your neighborhood. They need I believe 60 amps to recharge them, the average home is allocated what 100 amps each. Seems since electricity is made with more fossil fuels to produce it, by wind or solar, something is going to be in short supply especially with all these new electric car charging needs. If you are concerned now like my blue state Kalifornia that already sees brown outs where government tells us we can’t use our air conditioning, a real aggravation to say the least how’s this going to work? Well stand by, government is actually I believe going to control the electric grid shutting it down like they now do, but much worse. If you can’t charge your car your captive to the system. You can’t travel long distances for the same problem if you can’t charge your car to get home your stuck for who knows how long. Government see’s this as a positive, knowing that electric cars have limited Milledge and can track you where your going and knowing that a charge will take time while you wait and wait you will if thousands of Tesla’s are on the road with limited charging stations available by design. It’s another peg in their designs to control Americans from being free as we once knew it.

In the 60’s gas was 16 cents a gallon if you remember back that far, moving up reaching 80 cents a gallon in the 70’s then up and up away to where it’s now $5.00 a gallon and more for premium up to $7.00 in certain cities. We have been played and like frog’s in a boiling pot, we will be cooked if we can’t get our energy back to a sane plain. Trump had us almost energy independent actually exporting gas to our friends. Biden and his administration are killing America’s economy and changing over to wind and solar is a big deal too costly, too inefficient next to good old fossil fuels. America needs to get back to the basics where Americans can live life with affordable fuel, costs of living where only one person needs to work and the kids are looked after as we use to do by either mother or father. In just one year America looks like Obama is still in control Oh, he more than likely is. Biden is a disaster and we need to continue to make America great again. God help us if we don’t.

If these people want to make these insane changes, the first place that it should be done is in THEIR own communities where THEIR homes and mantions are located, the first multi unit housing buildings should go up on THEIR street. That would be a good way to test the idea and show everyone how great it is. Just like all those ileagals that they are allowing into the country should be sent to DC and to where ever their mantions are.

First off.I did not read the above article. Reason. It is my firm belief that President Biden through his Secretary of FDA Ordered the cease of oil pumped from Alaska! To cease The pipeline from Alaska to the US. He then opened the door for all oil to come from Saudi Arabia and others foreign producing countries to ship to the U.S.
What an abomination! Now the The White House Denies::Afghanistan , The rising oil prices. High increases with food! The selling of our security and our Freedom, which, Nancy Pelosi enjoys with glee.
Has noone ever wondered how it is that : Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, runs our country , Not by all the Representivites and Senators elected to that body?

They are driving gas prices up to try to force us to buy electric cars. Truth be known our tax dollars have already gone to produce these electric cars. Reliable electric is generated by fossil fuels and we all know that adds to global warming. How are they planning on generating the electric to run these cars. I will continue to drive my old V8 Tahoe.

High gas prices are important to them, but the real battering ram is going to be forced zoning changes. They want to import unmarried section eight ‘families’ into the suburbs and place them into new apartments they can then destroy. Their feral offspring will ruin the schools. Property values will plummet. Think they wont do this? Anywhere there’re peaceful semi rural neighborhoods where therere still some cornfields are going to be targeted. The left despises the fact that so many of us have moved to these areas. No one must escape!

We ALL know that in your 20’s and early 30’s, if you live in Manhattan you don’t own a car.
Why would you ? A car in Manhattan is as expensive as rent. If you need a car to go out of town on
the weekend, you rent one.
When, as a young Manhattan resident, you decide to marry and have children, you move as
far away as you can from Manhattan while being able to work in Manhattan. You use the railroad
to do that.
We ALL know that you cannot raise children while living in Manhattan.
The point of this article is that the demwits believe we are now supposed to raise children in Manhattan. Stupidity has no limit.

This is from Obama. He said energy prices are going to increase, necessarily. Trump proved him wrong. So they had to do something in the elections to get themselves back in power to continue the steal.

The problem here is that oil cannot be replaced. We can use less oil for electric vehicles. But billions of gallons will still be necessary for the windmills and any other electrical system, vehicles being one, that requires lubrication.

And these other forms of energy are not without their consequences. Nuclear energy still has a nuclear waste disposal problem after 50 years of nuclear energy. Lithium batteries also have a waste disposal problem. Windmill blades have a disposal problem and kills large birds(there you go PITA and anti-kill vegetarians).

The Communists are using a back way in to take over the country, many of those communists being Democrats. By destroying our energy independence they will take control of the country, for some bullsh** reason, deeming it necessary to do so.

And last, all I have to say is look at what happened in Texas. This is because politicians, company managers included, make these decisions on how to set up the energy grid, not engineers.

The reason to destroy the suburbs it to increase and cement power for the Democrats. The suburbs are roughly split, with a small majority of Republicans. Cities are overwhelmingly Democrats. They don’t need 90% of the vote to win only 51%. So, move some of the 90% to the suburbs and the Democrats can ensure victory.

The worst government action ever taken against the suburbs was done by Donald Trump and the Republicans in their tax shift, shifting the tax burden from billionaires, the top 1/10 of the top 1% of income earners to those making between $80,000 to $500,000 annually.

That is the State and Local tax deduction limitation (SALT) of $10,000, the same regardless of single or married filer resulting in another tax marriage penalty, the form says “$10,000 or $5,000 if married filling single which means the marriage penalty related to Trump and Republican tax shift is unavoidable, has resulted in 4 times as many suburbanites receiving a $4,000 or greater tax increase than those who got a $4,000 or more tax decrease.

Biden’s “Build Back Better” proposal has, as the second most expensive item, reversing Trump and Republican huge tax increase on the suburbs. Furthermore, as gas is just over $3.00 a gallon, under George W Bush gas was over $4.50 a gallon which adjusted for inflation would be over $5.00 today.

So in addition to pointing out that no president or party was ever worse for the suburbs than Trump and Republicans, a war Biden is trying as a top goal to reverse, it is also worse asking anyone looking to a rise in gas prices under Biden as “a war on American suburbs, what was Bush doing when his polices resulted in gas being 50% more expensive then under Biden and even worse if you take into account inflation since 2008. Of course the obvious answer to the question about claiming a war on the suburbs by Biden and not by Bush pointing at gas prices is rank hypocrisy.

Of course. They think that if they raise gas prices and give tax credits for electric vehicles, then everyone will run out, buy one and save the world. The problem is that most people can’t afford a new car. I can’t even afford to buy a used car. I have medical bills, 3 kids and a mortgage. I don’t have a money tree in my yard and I can’t just print money whenever I need it. Besides, there’s the reality of the mining required to get the materials to manufacture the batteries. Get a clue!

Sonoma County, CA is already instituting the abandonment of single-family zoning -but only in certain (read economically lower tier, older) neighborhoods. They encourage “developers” to buy and then raze perfectly good homes so as to build 4 or 8-plex units destined for Section 8 dwellers. To make this work they city/county waives the on-site parking requirement and utility upgrades. The individual units are each occupied by several generally Latino families – often over 15 to a two-bedroom apartment. There are four to eight cars associated with each unit so on-street parking is a nightmare. Fights, vandalism, and even shootings ensue. On the utility side, aging sewer and electrical infrastructure are strained to the breaking point. Oh the wonder of “progressive” planning.

The United States is not close to converting entire country to Electric Vehicles. Biden Admin. is pushing this thru without the technology available to meet that demand. But , they do not seem to be backing off of this. Where are batteries, electricity capacity, what about recycle plants, what about mineral supply to meet this , and on and on. Need a study that will back up their plan.
