One hundred and 23 years later, the New York Times still boasts of its alleged objectivity with the phrase “All the News That’s Fit to Print” located on the upper left-hand corner of its front page. The slogan was the idea of the paper’s owner Adolph S. Ochs in 1897. He meant it as “a declaration of the newspaper’s intention to report the news impartially,” according to the language arts Website ReadWriteThink.
Surely, Mr. Ochs would be displeased, at best, if he could see what has happened to the Gray Lady, as the paper has been called. Its bias shines bright in each and every edition these days as it proudly exposes its leftist agenda.
Bari Weiss was the editor of the Opinion section of the New York Times. She resigned earlier this month. Some might say she was forced to quit her job. As she put it in her scathing letter of resignation: “Why edit something challenging to our readers, or write something bold only to go through the numbing process of making it ideologically kosher, when we can assure ourselves of job security (and clicks) by publishing our 4000th op-ed arguing that Donald Trump is a unique danger to the country and the world? And so self-censorship has become the norm.”
It is interesting to note that Ms. Weiss’ departure came just a few weeks after her predecessor, James Bennet, was forced to resign for publishing an OpEd by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-AR, with the headline, “Send In the Troops.” It advocated a “show of force” as a means of dealing with the scourge of militant protestors menacing the streets of cities across the country.
Bari Weiss described the onerous pressure on writers and editors at the paper this way: “Op-eds that would have easily been published just two years ago would now get an editor or a writer in serious trouble, if not fired. If a piece is perceived as likely to inspire backlash internally or on social media, the editor or writer avoids pitching it. If she feels strongly enough to suggest it, she is quickly steered to safer ground. And if, every now and then, she succeeds in getting a piece published that does not explicitly promote progressive causes, it happens only after every line is carefully massaged, negotiated and caveated.”
Rasmussen Reports conducted a survey soon after Ms. Weiss resigned, asking the question: “As places like The [New York] Times and other once-great journalistic institutions betray their standards and lose sight of their principles, Americans still hunger for news that is accurate, opinions that are vital and debate that is sincere.” Only 24% of the respondents could disagree with the statement.

The NYT has been a left-leaning, biased news organization for literally decades. To be employed there, it is an all but openly stated requirement that you fully embrace “the progressive agenda” (translation: globalist socialism) to work there.
Ms. Weiss was hardly a conservative or even moderate editor, as some in the media continue to try and portray her, by any stretch of the imagination. Just look at the history of the types of editorials she routinely approved and had published in the NYT during her tenure. Her “sins”, if you want to call them that, were two-fold. One that she wasn’t a ranting, rabid enough uber socialist, constantly advocating for the immediate dismantling of the United States into far left socialist Utopia. The other was that she was was simply Jewish and for the vast majority of upper middle class to rich, white “progressives” that make up the majority of the NYT staff, that is a big strike against you. Yes, the same left that constantly preaches tolerance and inclusivity of others to everyone is still as intolerant, bigoted and racist as it ever was. They are just far more open and up front about it now, because the so-called silent majority chooses to remain silent and docile. So with no meaning resistance being encountered, the left is emboldened to be more blatant their views and actions.
So the writing staff of the NYT simply decided it was time to make the working environment of Ms. Weiss at the NYT unbearable enough to get her to resign. Another trophy scalp victory for the left in their quest for ideological purity. Don’t cry too much for Ms. Weiss though. I’m sure she will find another left-wing newspaper more than willing to give her a job. Either that or she will write a book and make a few million selling it to suckers out there who buy into the idiocy that she was either a moderate or conservative voice during her time at the NYT.

My grandfather must be rolling over in his grave! He escaped Communist Russia and lost most of his personal wealth in doing so to come to America. He was a learned man but because of circumstances had to take a job doing menial work in a factory. He had a wife, 5 sons and 2 daughters to support. What really impressed me was that every Sunday he would buy the NY Times and read it all day from cover to cover. Today, he wouldn’t even use it wrap the garbage because it’s spewing Communist Doctrine!!!
ALL are important! President Trump embodies each & every one. He has set the standard so high that I will never again be satisfied with anything less. He has been a Godsend to our nation…. a true warrior for our people and for America. His kind of courage is rare.

There was a time when the NYTs was the center of the universe. A time when fewer news sources existed. Readers may have suspected they were being misled, but they had no way to prove it. My, how times have changed! Like bright sunlight on bacteria, the NYTs has been exposed….exposed as progressive propaganda. A paper with a far left agenda! Not reliable! Untrustworthy! A news source that needs to be verified at every turn!
“Freedom of Speech” only applies to those who are fascisistic members of organizations such as ‘BLM’ and ‘Antifa’. The rest of us “common trash” are expected to just STFU and take it. Well, I say Bull-Hunkydoo……..
Why would anyone even read the NYT? They have strictly left for years.
It is so dangerous when the American people only get a partial picture of what is happening. We have seen this so many times before in other times and countries.
It is sad, but it appears that the NYT has elevated itself to the lofty dystopian level of the newspaper becoming Fake News almost in its entirety. Journalism has truly lost its way at the NYT, and is conspicuous by its absence there. The NYT thus does (and continues to do) a great disservice to the American people, as do a number of other leftist rags around the country.

In the 1950s I had a social studies teacher who said the NY Times is not a truly objective newspaper because ” who decides what news is fit to print?”
