Liberals Are Facing a Global Meltdown

While President Donald Trump’s historic political comeback was undoubtedly the most dramatic and high-profile victory anywhere in the world for conservatives in 2024, it was hardly the only one. In 2025, the global right could be poised for even more significant progress.

As Trump is set to return to the White House, the notoriously unpopular liberal Canadian Prime Minister announced just this week that he would be resigning after nearly a decade in power. Opinion polls show Trudeau’s Liberal Party trailing the Conservative Party by as many as 24 points.

Meanwhile, in Germany, the progressive left government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz is deeply unpopular. Ahead of elections this February, the conservative Christian Democratic Union is polling in first place at between 30 and 34 percent.

In the United Kingdom, new liberal Prime Minister Keir Starmer is already deeply unpopular. While the Conservative Party experienced a major setback in elections earlier this year, it was largely due to vote cannibalization as the even more conservative Reform Party surged in popularity.

This conservative swell isn’t just isolated to a few countries, either. In the European Parliament elections this past June, the conservative European People’s Party emerged as the clear victor, with other conservative parties also making gains. After three decades in which liberals dominated Brussels, conservatives’ sweeping victories represented a seismic political shift on the continent.

In all of these cases, the America First policies pioneered by Trump have had a clear influence in setting the priorities of conservative leaders. In Europe as in the United States, three key issues – energy, immigration, and “woke” dogma – were particularly prominent themes in conservative parties’ campaigns.

While these gains for conservatives surprised many in the political and media establishments, they should not have been so shocking given the societal rot and decline facing voters. Like the United States, Europe has seen a collapse in its manufacturing sector. Europe has also dealt with stagnant economic growth and an enormous influx of migrants. As former Italian Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi once said, “Decline is not a destiny; it is a choice” – and voters are choosing an alternative.

Perhaps the example that best captures the conservative resurgence in Europe and how successful it can be is Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Italy.

Meloni rode a wave of backlash to failed liberal policies to power in 2022, shocking many in the European political establishment. Voters’ top concerns were rising energy costs and unchecked mass migration from North Africa wreaking havoc in Italian communities.

Seeing herself as both a thinker and a doer, Meloni shares a motto with Gasperi that comes from St. John Chrysostom: “The wise men did not set out because they saw the Bethlehem star; they saw the star because they made the effort to journey.”

Meloni’s policy program, which contains many of the same priorities as Donald Trump’s in the United States, can best be described as “Italy First.” She has expanded energy production, cracked down on illegal immigration, and adopted a broad “anti-woke” stance for her government.

Retired Professor of Political Science Ludovic Gagneux, who advised the leadership of the conservative Rally for the Republic party on family and youth policies in the late 1980s, told me in an interview that “Meloni’s policies translated Trumpism into a language that even Brussels could understand.” While European elites initially decried Meloni as a “fascist,” they have now been forced to begrudgingly acknowledge her success.

In response to illegal and excessive immigration, Meloni introduced the Mattei Plan, which helps build up the economies of nations where migrants originate from while also benefiting the Italian economy. “The goal was to give individuals considering leaving reasons to stay, focusing on job opportunities, training, and growth prospects,” Italian Senator Nicola Calandrini, the president of the Budget Commission, explained.

As a result, Italy saw a 58 percent decrease in illegal immigrant arrivals in 2024 compared to 2023. Leaders at the European Union have now expressed admiration for the plan’s initial results and have made their own commitments to strengthening border controls.

Meloni has also advocated for the extraction of domestic natural gas to address the energy crisis and reduce Italy’s reliance on Russian natural gas imports. While other European nations are becoming increasingly dependent on unreliable wind and solar, Italy is quickly becoming one of the most energy-diverse countries on the continent.

But Meloni’s greatest contribution to her country is perhaps her staunch commitment to reviving patriotism and a strong sense of national Italian identity. “Mass illegal migration is one of the primary tactics used in the fight against national identities,” she has warned. She understands that in order for Italy to be strong, Italians must have a strong sense of their national identity and heritage.

2024 was a banner year for global conservatives. But with Republicans taking control in the United States and conservatives leading in critical elections throughout the West in 2025, 2024 may well be viewed by history as the beginning, not the climax, of a great conservative resurgence.

If not about the economy, immigration, crime, ESG/woke, national security or other policy, ppl are simply tired of being lied to. Democrats will do and say anything in lockstep to keep or obtain power aka “the money train”. But don’t listen to me… I’m just racist, misogynist, deplorable garbage who voted for Hitler.

I sure wish the US had a 58% less illegals number working for us. Although I am quite sure that the Davos global elites will NOT give up, the more we can daylight their manipulation and plan for world government domination, the better we the people of all countries can move forward. Starting with the ridiculous climate change lie, which is their only real way to get everyone on the planet in the same frame of mind. We need to go back to the late 70s and dig out the original research, done by REAL scientists before politics and billionaire money took over. Yes, the climate might be warming like it has done over and over in the past million years, but that does NOT mean tossing trillions of dollars into nothing and whipping everyone (especially our next gen leaders) into a frenzy. The truth needs to come out and under Trump, those scientists that were cancelled, can come out of hiding and present the REAL TRUTH.

How well other countries around the world fare, in terms of being successful in moving more in the conservative direction of government by, for and of the people, is completely dependent on the will and the power of the people in those countries to enact some sort of positive change. There is a great deal of difference between being upset about conditions and the increasingly authoritarian style of most leftist governments around the world and being willing and able to do something about it.

Of the countries mentioned in the above article, Italy has the greatest chance of success in western Europe of achieving some means of real national control again. Germany has blown up its own economy with their widespread adoption of the green new deal. It shouldn’t be surprising the people have had enough and Olaf’s days in power are numbered. Whether Germany makes the right decision to go towards a more conservative party or simply pick another socialist is a coin toss right now. Things certainly won’t improve with another socialist democrat in charge, as the same policies in place today would remain.

The United Kingdom is unfortunately one of the least likely at this point to regain any semblance of national stability or economic recovery, as the country has been overrun by millions of unassimilated migrants from the Middle East and the populace has been disarmed and cowed into submission by laws that provide either fines or imprisonment for merely daring to speak up on almost anything.

Western Europe overall has been mired in socialist democracies since the late 1060s and early 1970s. With the introduction of the EU in the late 1990s, as a government superstructure essentially controlling what the individual countries of western Europe can do within their own boarders, Europe essentially surrendered their individual rights and freedoms to an unaccountable bureaucracy in exchange for the promise of economic prosperity. There is more likelihood of a few South American countries emerging from stagnation and repression of socialism / communism than it is to see any sort of wholesale revival in most of western Europe.

Inauguration Day can’t get here soon enough. That’s when the liberals really have their meltdown, which I’ll enjoy watching. However, they’ll do whatever it takes to keep MAGA from advancing common-sense policies and the 2026 midterms are fast approaching. WE THE PEOPLE cannot let our guard down. MAGA!!!!

It is very encouraging to see another nation cast off the yoke of thoughtless, “progressive” policy, while embracing common sense measures and policies that can elevate their standard of living and citizenship. Draconian regimentation is not a goal in and of itself… nor is it a solution to the type of cultural neurosis that Biden’s policies are aimed at reinforcing, here in America. President Trump and Italian Prime Minister Meloni are two examples of visionary national leadership that sees a clear path of rational alternatives to “progressive” policies that won’t address a nations’ or its’ citizens’ actual needs. How wonderful to see these much more meaningful injections of rational thought, thanks to these two REAL LEADERS. NOW, it’s time to support their ideals of actual, measurable performance in governmental policy, and leave behind the sanctimonious dysfunctions of the past. Go Trump and Meloni !!!

Global meltdown – would be typical of spoiled brats used to getting their way, then finding there is someone smarter who will show them who’s really a winner.

I’m cautiously optimistic that the worldwide conservative movement may last at least a decade or two. Who knows? Anything is possible.

I don’t believe the people in all these countries have a clue,as to what good govt is.They just vote for another party if they feel things aren’t going right under whomever is in office today. So,since none of these conservatives can save their countries from continued decline, expect their citizens to switch back next elections.I would bet that the President of the U.S. following Trump will be a Democrat.

President-elect Donald Trump speaks to members of the media during a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago Club on January 07, 2025 in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on January 20, making him the only president other than Grover Cleveland to serve two non-consecutive terms in office.
