How to Overthrow a Democracy: Promote Marijuana Use

WASHINGTON, DC, Oct 24 — How do you overthrow a democracy? Put the country to sleep. It’s not hard to do. In fact, the progressive socialists in DC — most notably our “drug-dealer-in-chief,” Joe Biden — have already initiated the process; they are promising young voters that “sleeping pills” — popularly known as marijuana — will be legalized.

In his own words, in advance of the midterm elections, President Biden recently declared that: “First, I am announcing a pardon of all prior Federal offenses of simple possession of marijuana … Second, I am urging all Governors to do the same with regard to state offenses … Third, I am asking the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Attorney General to initiate the administrative process to review expeditiously how marijuana is scheduled under federal law.”

This, despite the fact that his own Centers for Disease Control [CDC] warns that the use of marijuana has a severe impact on people who use and abuse it:

  • Recent research estimated that approximately 3 in 10 people who use marijuana have marijuana use disorder. For people who begin using marijuana before age 18, the risk of developing marijuana use disorder is even greater.
  • Marijuana use directly affects the brain, specifically the parts of the brain responsible for memory, learning, attention, decision-making, coordination, emotion, and reaction time.
  • Long-term or frequent marijuana use has been linked to increased risk of psychosis or schizophrenia in some users.

Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health [NIH] published a report in August that showed the use of marijuana is on the rise at an alarming rate.  In 2011, the NIH says 17% of young adults were using the drug; by 2021 usage rose to an all-time high of 43% among that age group.

But, perhaps the most chilling news was provided by The Hill: that the use of marijuana is growing at an unprecedented number among voting age citizens. “In the next few years, we should see [the share of all adults who said they had tried marijuana] crossing 50 percent,” said Lydia Saad, director of U.S. social research for Gallup. “When the polling organization first posed the question, in 1969, only 4 percent of adults said they had ever used cannabis.

Cannabis advocates rejoiced this month when President Biden announced he would pardon all Americans convicted of simple marijuana possession under federal law. As many as five more states are poised to join the recreational marijuana movement after the midterms. Recreational marijuana could transform cannabis culture in North and South Dakota and Arkansas, states where only 10 to 15 percent of adults use the drug now. Already, 19 states and the District of Columbia have recreational marijuana laws on the books. Should all five measures pass, ‘legalization would be the law for an estimated 49 percent of the U.S. population,’ said Paul Armentano, deputy director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, in an email interview.”

The most recent unsettling news is that the marijuana peddlers are transitioning the use of marijuana from a harmful, illicit way to get high into some sort of every-day-treat like soda pop. In fact, the Jones Soda Co., says Forbes Magazine, is wasting no time in cashing in on new ways to get high. The company announced just last week “that it is expanding the company’s Mary Jones line of cannabis beverages with the California introduction of new marijuana-infused drinks in 16-ounce cans. The launch of the new super-sized cannabis beverages infused with 100 milligrams of THC, the most common psychoactive compound found in marijuana, follows the debut of the Mary Jones brand’s 12-ounce weed drinks earlier this year.”

Veda and Dave are correct in recognizing benefit and not only alcohol but prescription pain pills are MUCH more lethal.

Yet, ALCOHOL is legal and has far more DANGEROUS EFFECTS.
History of ALCOHOL ABUSE surpasses any marijuana use.
Let’s start with ALL the ALCOHOLICS and go from there.

This is just silly. The prohibitionists lost this fight 10-15 years ago. People enjoy weed and it will be sold and smoked regardless of federal law. The states may as well regulate and profit from it. I smoke daily and I’m a successful young man by any metric. Project manager. Healthy 401K. Personal savings doing well. Housing, girlfriend and so on. Drop the fear mongering and leave us be.

People are going to use marijuana whether it’s legal or not. I think the abuse of anything is dangerous and has long term effects. The title of this article ‘How to Overthrow a Democracy: Promote Marijuana Use’ is the most stupid statement I’ve heard. Alcohol is far more damaging than marijuana in my opinion and that tried to make that illegal, didn’t work. Everything in moderation.

Whoa! Don’t outlaw a composition of Marijuana! The part that helps control chronic pain! Many benefit from that form so they can be a benefit to society. Yes, the part that makes one sleepy is also a tool for people who suffer from insomnia. We need parts of it to help many who rely on it Responsibly. There many issues more important, illegal immigration n the fentynol crisis, supporting our law enforcement, our economy, fuel like gas n oil, n corruption in each federal entity. That’s just a few issues! What about this Woke junk, n kids with masks.

John Grimaldi – your arguments that marijuana will destroy this republic is as ridiculous as Joe Biden‘s presidency. Maybe do a little of your own research rather than rely on the NIH continuous vomit of bs. Marijuana makes you sleepy. Yes it does! But it won’t make smart people dumb or dumb people smart. It’s a recreational drug. I agree if you start using it before 18 or 20 that’s not a very wise decision. But throwing marijuana into a class of destruction is just plain stupid ‼️

What happened to all the pot smoking “HIPPIES” from the 60’s and 70’s, they can’t all be dead yet. We smoked back then but the question is if you quit why? and why not start again? I did and I’m 74 and consume every day and enjoy it more now than I did back then. It’s Not going to destroy our Republic but the Democrats will if we don’t vote

Why hasn’t ANYONE mentioned that becoming a so called legalMarijuana user, you permanently give up your 2nd amendment right to own a firearm legally. You’ll never get a concealed carry permit.

The DemocRats are getting desperate … they are now unashamedly going after the Maryjane user crowd. DemocRats want to become the Land of the Free and the Home of the Druggies. When a Nation gives in to the appeal of decadent behavior, it is headed for major decline. Gotta hand it to Joe Hidin’ Biden ….. he is doing his best worst to sink this Nation in to decadence.

This is just another way Biden is buying votes. Get everybody high and impair their ability to make decisions. That way he can kill two birds with one stone. And I suspect Biden will threaten some kind of sanctions on states that do not follow his lead.

The problem with Obiden pardoning all Americans convicted of simple marijuana possession under federal law, is that there are no Americans locked up federally for simple possession. Smoke & mirrors …. LOL

As I understand it, today’s marijuana is many times as potent as the ’60s variety. Would you fly a commercial jet with a pilot smoking marijuana? If it is needed for medicinal use, it should be LIMITED only to CERTIFIED doctors, not the crooked ones that do it (and abortions) to get rich!

First fact everybody over 55 needs to understand… this is NOT the same weed from the 60s, 70s and 80s! My understanding from the information published is the stuff out there today is much much more concentrated and potent. Much of the medical information you post above bears this out.
Unfortunately, the horse is out of the barn in many states and once legalized it will be next to impossible to change that. Politicians have now also gotten used to another way to tax the people for more money – that is their motivation.
