Cost estimates have come out for the Green New Deal — some say $93 trillion dollars, but the truth is that the plan actually would cost America much more — it would cost our nation everything.
It would cost the ability of individuals to choose the way they travel both for short distances and long. It would force changes on food choices at the dinner table. It would shrink home electricity consumption with likely rationing due to restricted availability. It would change our homes, offices and every building in the country as each received one-sized fits all conservation retrofits. It would end same or next day delivery of most of our purchases as domestic cargo planes would be grounded.
The plan requires a complete federal government takeover of virtually every aspect of the economy, ending individual free market choices. This means that one of the miracles of the market — a seeming endless supply of choices — will be replaced by those products that the federal government policies favor regardless of what anyone else wants.
Out of all of the factors leading to the fall of the Soviet Union, Boris Yeltsin abandoned communism after a visit to Houston, Texas. It wasn’t the Houston Space Center tour which convinced Yeltsin, but instead it was a visit to Randall’s grocery store on an unscheduled visit. The abundance stunned the soon to become first President of the Russian Federation. Yeltsin wrote, “When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people.” Yeltsin continued, “That such a potentially super-rich country as ours has been brought to a state of such poverty! It is terrible to think of it.”
The modern empty shelves and the citizen revolt in Venezuela shows that government caused poverty is not just a phenomenon of the 20th Century communist central planners, but the natural result of socialism which ends markets and replaces them with top down decision making.
Socialism creates scarcity, ends the incentive and ability for individuals to achieve their dreams, and makes each person dependent upon the government for their very existence. Rather than working for the individual citizens, the Green New Deal government will have the people trapped in a toxic relationship where government bureaucrats determine winners and losers in virtually every situation.
The Green New Deal turns what is supposed to be a relatively benign federal government with individual rights protected against government incursion into an all-powerful federal government overriding not only local and state governments in virtually every decision they make, but also limiting choices to only bureaucratic approved options without regard to individual needs or circumstances.
Here in the United States we have seen multiple examples of green venture socialist investing where private insiders choose projects not based upon their market viability but instead based upon the expectation that either the federal or state government will provide the funding giving the initial investors a soft landing and moving the risks to the public.
One example of this is the Virgin Trains USA (formerly Brightline) higher speed rail project in Florida which just had its $600 million IPO cancelled due to a lack of interest. Instead it is relying on $600 million of tax-free Department of Transportation private activity bonds, which in large part were used to refinance high-yield corporate junk bonds. In addition, it has sought another $2.1 billion of those same bonds, and is seeking a $3.7 billion Railroad Rehabilitation & Improvement Financing (RRIF) loan from the department.
What is clear is that without public, tax-funded backing, the project would not even be attempted because there is no demand. That is just one example.
Socialism is always a failure. It deprives people of freedom, choice, property and opportunity. The Green New Deal is nothing more or less than a new rationale for a failed government system that has always resulted in enslavement and deprivation of the people — and it must be rejected.
The Green New Deal is a fantasy proposed by an ignorant utopian dreamer who somehow was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. That’s bad enough. But for SO MANY of her fellow “progressives” to rally behind this nonsense….it defies all logic!! WHAT MAKES THESE PEOPLE SO STUPID? And many of them are running for the highest office in the country!!??
There would be no incentive to work. No incentive to look forward to tomorrow. Government doesn’t have the right to make all these decisions for me and my family. I can do that for myself. If we don’t vote them out in 2020 and beyond, then we don’t deserve the freedoms and a limited government our forefathers established for us by winning the Revolution. This proposal, along with the rest of the horrible, inhumane, job-killing socialist agenda coming from that side of the aisle, takes away any reason to call ourselves AMERICANS.
Actually a well written and highly accurate article on what socialism delivered to Russia (and every other country that adopted socialism over the last 100 years) and what it would do exactly the same to the United States, if ever enacted.
The pretense of using the climate change scheme as the Trojan Horse to gain potential public support for what amounts to a complete government take-over of all aspects of the economy and elimination of all life choices, freedoms and rights would be funny, if so many of the Millennial and Gen Z generations were not cheering this absurdity. To laugh off this growing percentage of the population, which does indeed vote as evidenced by the likes of AOC, Sanders, Warren, Waters, and the rest of hard left sitting in Congress and having a voice in our nation’s direction, would be huge mistake.
AOC did not draft this proposal out of thin air. She merely copied down every single principle and method of socialism and wrapped it all up in a nice package justified by man-made climate change. Either that or some leftist think tank group did it for her and she is merely the face they selected to push this manifesto at the present time.
Man-made climate change is in and of itself a false narrative completely devoid of any verifiable scientific evidense to support the contention and claims being put forth by the left. This narrative was constructed to simply justify the massive government expansion of powers, via regulations, to combat a wholly made-up crisis. It all boils down to a money and power play. Create a false crisis in the public’s minds to justify draconian solutions, that the public can be fooled in accepting under the guise of fixing the non-existent problem. Classic manipulation of the public to achieve a larger political and economic objective for a select few.
Removing the proponents of these destructive schemes from power should be what we are all focused on, like a laser, in 2020 and beyond. The future of the country relies on an informed and engaged public making intelligent decisions on who they empower to represent them in Washington. An ignorant or apathetic public is the fastest path to getting more people like AOC elected to Congress and ultimately gaining the power to enact insane proposals like the Green New Deal. Ultimately, it is the choice of the people as to who they want in power and what kind of government they want in place. Make better choices America!

How did these three young women get into office. They are stupid; do not know a thing and have probably been gifted with parents who are well off. Let them live as majority of Seniors lived in our early lives. Our parents worked very hard, we did not have the money to attend college even though we had the knowledge. We had to go to work so that we were not a burden to our families. Also, read and learn about the government giving you everything — that’s Communism. One more thing: We seniors worked, paid into SS and now our Medicare insurance (Parts A, B and D) come out of our checks before we receive them. After the deductions, we have little to live on. Pass that along to the powers that be — especially AOC and the one who cursed our wonderful President!

According to her thinking it is completely correct by socialism standards for her to receive a higher salary than her staff whom she claims are being paid $52,000 versus her $175,000 congressional salary.

The climate change model that is being used is a guess at best. The “scientists” use a model that does not include actual temperature numbers from the same location. Out of the 31 models the only one that is close to actual data is the Russian model. In the last 100 years the climate temperature has only increased by .93 degrees. Which is so much less than what the leftists are predicting. This information can be found on the KATO institut’s website.
Please Americans go to China and Russia and live a month and get a taste of the Green and then think of what the dem’s want to do too you.

Green New Deal –I can’t believe that anyone in his/her right mind could even seriously consider this idea that has even included a few of her colleagues in Congress and/or anyone offering to support it. Should anyone happen to take this comedy seriously, I believe that on a practical note, it is only fair that suggestions should be offered to replace everything AOC has listed that would be lost; i.e., how about publishing instructions on how to purchase and build a teepee if one should still own a piece of land that once housed structures.

Protests against carbon taxes can be given wide spread publicity by a “Yellow Vest” movement in the United States. Yellow Vests are sold by Home Depot for $10.99 as Safety Vests.

The Democrat Party created the “Green New Deal” that would ruin the U. S. economy. I fell like I am adaquately informed and see the New Green Deal as going in a TOTALLY WRONG DIRECTION.
There seems to be a large group of people who do not clearly understand the negative impact of such an ideology. I would hope that when individuals are presented with reality that they would oppose the concepts.
I would like to see a sincere public debate, much like a presidential debate, with a moderator to keep discussion in line (no finger pointing or name calling) so that individuals who are not exposed to the consequences of this kind of ideology can see the conservative point of view.
These people that want this new green deal is off their rocker. It would certainly ruin this country. Guess they haven’t been watching what is going on in Venezuela.
