On November 24, one day after President Biden announced the release of 50 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.39.
Biden characterized the the release from the reserve as “a tool matched to today’s specific economic environment, where markets expect future oil prices to be lower than they are today, and helps provide relief to Americans immediately and bridge to that period of expected lower oil prices.”
This morning, more than a month after the announcement of the SPR release, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.28, according to the American Automobile Association. Eleven cents saved per gallon! That’s almost as much as the 16 cents the Biden administration saved Americans at their Independence Day cookouts.
By historical standards, that’s still pretty darn high. Since 2014, the average national price per gallon for all grades was below three dollars per gallon, sometimes much closer to two dollars per gallon.
Enjoy all of that immediate relief, Americans!

Lets put this into a context most people can understand. At best, 50 million barrels of oil equates roughly to 3 days use of gasoline, diesel, heating oil and jet fuel is this country. That’s it. A statistical blip on the overall needs for the nation as a whole. Literally an inconsequential act done solely to give the POTUS some positive headlines for a few days and hopefully divert enough peoples’ attention away from the results of this administration’s disasterous energy policies to allow the administration to pivot to another subject. In short, a political stunt meant to fool the public nothing more.
The small decrease in the cost of gaslone recently is due primarily to the government hyping the Omnicron varient and several blue states instituting new mandates which are curtailing business across the entire economic spectrum. So gasoline prices at the pump are reflecting the lower demand due chiefly to less overall economic activity. Not because Biden released an insignificant amount of oil from the SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve).
When this latest hysteria recedes, the price of gasoline will resume its upward movement because demand will have been restored while bad energy policies remain firmly in place.
Want to help Americans? Open US oil fields! Reinstate the pipeline construction! STOP IMPORTING OL FROM THE MIDDLE EAST! Don’t import ANY oil from ANY OPEC nation! Put AMERICANS back to work! Oh, and when we DO open US oil fields, don’t allow ANY oil, or oil products, to be shipped out of the country! Sh*t, people, wake the “F” up, and smell the coffee…
Nothing has happened near me except that regular went down two cents about two weeks ago. Holding steady at $3.259.
I just dumped $40 into my gas tank, that’s more than it use to cost to take my wife out for a decent dinner in a nice restaurant. We had to cut back on our dining out, along with alot of other things we use to enjoy together. We’re retired, in our seventy’s, living on a very limited fixed income and are concerned, and protective of our nest egg and cash flow. While the resident in the white house and our “representatives” in congress care more for illegal immigrants, paying people able to work, not to work, than they do for the American people they are suppose to represent..I’ve been working and paying taxes since I was seventeen years old and never collected one penny of unemploment, and now in my “golden” years am not able to enjoy what few years I may have left. Thank you Joe, Kamala, Nancy, crying Chuck my Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, MSM, and all the non informed voters who keep voting for these self serving politicians in the DC Swamp’
Here in rainy Southern California, cheapest price per gallon is about $4.29.
Geez, thanks Jackass Joe! . . . When I first started driving in 1965, average price was 21 cents per gallon! Mom gave me advice to never pay more than 10 cents/lb. for bananas or watermelon. She also said we were Democrats because they protect the Middle Class! They never seem to address the reason for the slight drop in gas prices—the release of the Petroleum Reserve. So, what’s going to happen to prices when our reserve is gone? What’s going to happen if China gets hard-nosed and starts a war? How about Russia’s attitude toward the Ukraine? Will our military have enough fuel without having to suck it up from the private sector?

I know there aren’t as many stupid people in my state as our Marxist Dictator thinks. When Trump was President, our gas at the pump was as low as $1.79 a gallon. I kid you not! Now since the ‘big steal’ the prices are at and past $4.00/gal. I believe the only reason they’re doing this is to prop up their electric car agenda. Very few people will be able to afford them. I never want to have to rely on public transportation again, especially in this day and age with our new lazy ‘I don’t care’ and me, me, me generation. I carry hand sanitizer just as a normal every day routine. Thank goodness, at least most retailers have access to the stuff too. What I have been seeing is quite a few people getting out of my state moving to ‘free’ states. My brother moved to Tennessee a month ago. Their gas there is like $2.35 or around there. Still cheaper by far than in Marxist states. I’m confused as to how so many mentally ill people have made it in government positions, not just in my state, but in our White House! I know they’ve been cheating since they instituted mail-in voting, but I just don’t get that they are so….well, just plain stupid! It’s at the point that they know everything they do is either hypocritical or stupid, THEY DON’T CARE! Being a Senior Citizen it is really hard on the pocketbook. Where did he lower the price of gasoline – in Delaware since he’s spending several days there? Why can’t this no-brain idiot and his entire cabinet (layovers from B.O. for the most part) be impeached and sent on their way? To China perhaps for all the money the Bidens have there? By the way, my dad and uncle had a gas station in the 1960s early 1970 and I recall the price of gas Mobile ranged from 23-34 cents/gallon for premium and that was with full service. I recall the minimum wage in 1970 was about $1.60/hr. I also recall being caught up in the gas shortage lines in the early 1970s–odd/even license plates every other day with long, long lines. It does seem however like inflation is getting out of control. All this extra cost levied on us and yet Faucci will get $350K/yr for retirement + whatever other bennies all at our expense. The only relief that the country will have from higher gas prices is when our Congress and the executive administration start encouraging legislation to reward domestic producers of oil and natural gas products. That will not happen until these leftist Democrats are voted out of office. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait for too many months for all of that to happen. In the meantime, many Americans will not be able to travel as far as in the recent past. They will have colder homes this winter and for several more winters because they will not be able to handle higher home heating bills. And you can bet that the leftist Democrats will be pushing for more give aways to help alleviate the problems that they brought on in the first place. This “green” life lie takes away from the economic health of the country, taxes our people to death, and takes the lifeblood out of those citizens who buried by the much higher costs of living. I live in the Southwest and our average in my area is $399 a gallon. It was just over $2.00 a gallon under Trump. WTF??? Relief? We’d do better with R.O.L.A.I.D.S. THE OLDER FOLKS WILL GET IT!

I live in northern California. I paid $5.49/gallon. California is punishing its citizens with all it’s high taxes. When one political part is continually in power, it can do what it wants. That is what is happening in California.

We need to look at Biden’s bigger picture & agenda to go to all electric vehicles. Biden is starting this before we have a solid plan in place to accomplish this. What percent of the batteries are coming from China, does the USA have rare earth minerals to build these, where is electricity coming from to charge the batteries, Are batteries being recycled at current time or any plans to do this or —will this create another solid hazardous waste product in this nation. Be careful with this or we will end up one of the poorest nations in world & without vehicles for travel .

Gas prices continue to rise here in AZ. Prices increased from $2.30 in Jan 2020 to $3.70 or higher now. We haven’t seen any decrease in prices.
the Illinois suburbs pay $3.20 to $3.45 for low grade gas . We don’t drive to Chicago , but prices are much higher there .
Taxes on our gas . . .
Excise tax : 0.19 cents per gal.
Additional tax : 0.01 cents per gal .
Total : 0.20 cents
Illinois taxes on dIesel too . . . $0.23 cents
They also tax jet fuel, kerosene, LP, LNG, and of course natural gas.
Some of these taxes were supposed to pay for our road repairs . Who knows what they’re doing with the lottery, gambling, and marijuana taxes . Illinois ( where Obama , and Emanuel , and the Daleys’ are from) has been corrupt since I’ve been a little boy. All Democrats .Hmmmmmm . . . I can’t imagine what New York, & California are paying. Gasoline here in Oregon has continued to rise. Just this past week, gas prices rose from 3.83/gal to 3.95/gal. Some stations are over 4.00. If you use credit, gas is .15 higher per gal. Undoubtedly, state fuel taxes will increase effective 1/1/22. Who knows how high gas will be in 2 days.
