The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) will be holding its fourth annual National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Amid a continued shortage of poll workers throughout the country, this day of action will be especially pivotal in ensuring a secure and efficient electoral process this November.
Poll workers are a crucial part of the democratic process and play a vital role in helping citizens cast their ballots. Anyone interested in signing up to be a poll worker can use the EAC’s user-friendly Poll Worker Recruitment Lookup Tool to find their local precinct and sign up.
Although rates vary by state, poll workers can also be compensated for their service. At least six states, Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, and Oklahoma have recently funded poll worker pay raises.
Amid continuing concerns about election integrity, poll workers are set to have an especially large impact this fall. Election law requires both Republicans and Democrats to work the polls in order to ensure an unbiased and bipartisan process.
Despite their importance, many jurisdictions continue to face shortfalls of poll workers. In 2022, half of precincts said recruiting enough people to work the polls was “very” or “somewhat” difficult.
In 2020, there were nearly 177,000 total precincts throughout the United States where nearly 800,000 Americans served their communities as poll workers. This year those figures are expected to be even higher.
Serving as a poll worker is an easy way to get involved in the community and help keep the wheels of democracy turning. Any eligible voter who is interested can sign up using the EAC’s recruitment tool or by contacting their local elections office.
You I won’t be doing it this year. It’s a waste of time where I live. I did it in 2020 and the Dem poll workers pretty much did shady crap like locking several of out of the counting. When we tried to lodge a formal complaint we were told we were lying and to kiss off Didn’t matter that there were multiple independent complaints.
I have worked as a poll worker for many years, my mom also did. It is a very long day and you don’t get much. pay. I do it as a service to my community. .
I have reported some things I have seen that are no right and I will be there to be a thorn in their side if they try doing something wrong.
Very good that AMAC Action. is promoting the value of poll workers in this article. Anything that will help to keep the elections honest is a worthwhile effort. A fundamental activity in maintaining this Constitutional Republic , the voting system needs people dedicated to defend it and help to keep the ” wheels of democracy turning”. This idea should be appreciated by all responsible American citizens .
Considering that even CNN reported the total number of votes counted in the 2020 election was about 26 million more than the total number of US Citizens registered to vote, we need some way to keep from having another 26,000,000 cases of vote fraud and treason.
(Note: CNN was joking about it, but at least they mentioned it.)
I am working as a poll worker in my state of Tennessee this Thursday August 1st

World Atlas (as of 2024) says: 46.50 % of US is Protestant with the remaining religions (53.50%) scattered over 12 classifications; the largest of which is apparently, Roman Catholic 20.80%) with Muslim at less than 1% (.90%). If we lose our freedom we’ll know where to look. Please vote. It’s only a lost cause if you listen to the minority. Please vote,
Sorry, this would screw up my QIT
