Governor Kathy Hochul’s so-called “Regionalization” order threatens the very foundation of New York’s education system. This December 6th, her Emergency Order will strip Long Island school districts of their local control, effectively dismantling school boards’ authority while imposing a state-run education bureaucracy.
While some New York AMAC members reading this may not live on Long Island, we ask that you support Long Islanders and contact Governor Hochul to stop this blatant power grab to indoctrinate our children with leftist ideology!
What’s Happening?
- Local superintendents will report to Regional Superintendents handpicked by the state, bypassing the authority of locally elected school boards.
- School boards will no longer oversee teachers, principals, or curriculum — but will still levy taxes to fund schools they can’t manage.
- Long Island’s top-rated schools will be “leveled down” to mediocrity, while Hochul’s cronies fill lucrative government jobs created by this power grab.
- Hochul’s Order EXCLUDES the “Big Five” school districts (NYC, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, Yonkers) — districts not so coincidentally already run by Democrats.
This scheme bypasses public input, denying communities the chance to weigh in through hearings or legislative review. If she can do this to New York’s education system, then which of your freedoms are next on her list?
Why This Matters
Long Island families pay some of the highest property taxes in the nation to ensure quality schools for their children. This state takeover is an assault on their investment, their local control, and their children’s academic future.
We must stop this takeover before it’s too late. Please contact Governor Hochul today and demand she rescind this disastrous order.
