Climate Change written on school chalkboard with globe

Hammering K-12 school children nonstop about the dangers of climate change in every class, even math, art and gym, is child abuse.

Barely one-third of fourth graders can read or do math at grade level, according to the latest national scores, but climate activists are demanding kids hear about global warming in every class. New Jersey mandates it, and now Connecticut is following suit as the school year opens. In New York City, Mayor Eric Adams is requiring every public school participate in Climate Action Day.

The climate push is nakedly political, spearheaded in New Jersey by the governor’s wife, first lady Tammy Murphy, a founding member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project. Lessons link urban heat islands to tree placement inequities, redlining and racism.

New York City holds out activist Greta Thunberg as a climate hero and role model, telling kids to “get involved in the global student climate action movement” and “get to know community leaders and register to vote.” Everything short of pre-enrolling kindergarteners in the Democratic Party. Parents should be outraged.

Climate change is the Left’s religion. The messaging is as heavy-handed as catechism in a religious school.

It’s also scary. Children are being told that global warming is killing their favorite animals. At Slackwood Elementary School in New Jersey, first graders are taught that transportation, heating, and raising livestock are “making Earth feel unwell.”

The reality is that these children are too young to comprehend the trade-offs of moving to zero carbon immediately. A first grader doesn’t know Mommy can’t afford an electric vehicle — average price $53,000.

Children should be taught about the wonders of nature, learning to identify mammals, reptiles, fish and birds, oceans, plants and deserts. They are too young to address the ethical and economic implications of eliminating fossil fuels.

First graders don’t understand the impact on their family’s budget when the Con Ed bill doubles to pay for the shift to wind and solar, which New Yorkers are warned will happen here.

The U.S. has already reduced emissions of the six most common pollutants by 78% since 1970, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. But try explaining that to a first grader who doesn’t know percentages and has no frame of reference for comparing the U.S. record with, say, the soaring pollution rates in China and India.

These issues are appropriate for high school students, and they should be presented as controversies — with all viewpoints included.

Climate education advocates say they’re just teaching “facts” everyone agrees on. Don’t buy it.

The scientific community is divided about the urgency of eliminating fossil fuels. A poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University of 400 geologists, climatologists, meteorologists and other scientists found that 41% do not believe global warming will cause “significant harm” during our lifetimes.

A majority of scientists also disagree with the claim kids hear from teachers that we’re facing a significant increase in severe weather like hurricanes and tornadoes.

Eliminating fossil fuels on the radical Left’s green timetable will clobber ordinary people: costing jobs, raising living costs and weakening America’s position in the world. Yet climate change educators oppose any discussion of the cost of getting to zero.

California, New York and Oregon are currently considering mimicking New Jersey’s “every class is a climate class” curriculum. But some states are resisting.

Texas state education authorities are urging districts to present the pros and cons of fossil fuels and avoid textbooks that present only one side. That’s smart, considering how many moms and dads there earn a living in carbon-related industries.

In Ohio, Republican state lawmakers want to require publicly funded colleges to present all viewpoints on climate change, “encourag(ing) students to reach their own conclusions,” and not to “inculcate any social, political, or religious point of view.”

Good luck enforcing that on college campuses. But it should be the rule in every public school.

Parents: Stand up to the indoctrinators. Ramming the same scary message into your child’s head over and over again in class after class is brainwashing.

We live in America, not China.

How about we teach them real science, like “Milankovitch Cycles,” the varying tilt, procession and orbit of the earth is well defined, with predictable cycles into and out of glaciation. This is the real cause of varying climate of the earth. Man has nothing to do with it. One large volcano eruption puts more gases in the atmosphere than all of mankind’s efforts ever have. The eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815 caused a year without a summer (nuclear winter). The truth will set us free, and keep us free.

Have said from Day 1 that their Global Warming is a LIE and SCAM.
FACT: 1930’s Hold the Record for Hottest Temperatures. 1980 was LAST HOTTEST SUMMER. This summer of 2023 doesn’t even come close or the past 5 years they lie about.
They even have NASA lying for their SCAM and LIE on Global Warming.
On 1-17-19, NASA said we ARE heading towards a Mini-Ice Age.
FAKE NEWS didn’t report that but it was reported by other news outlets and on NASA’s website.
Notice they NEVER mention the COLDEST Winters (Especially the last 2 winters) we’ve had and how many people died from the COLD.
Which is by far MORE than those that died during summers.
If you pay attention on how they play with altering the temperature records you will see for yourself.
FACT: Their LIE and SCAM will ONLY change the temperature by 17 one-thousandth of 1 Degree. Which on a planetary scale is NOT even noticeable. NOT their BS Lie of 2.3 Degrees.
Don’t forget that we are on a Planet floating in Outer Space constantly moving through Outer Space and the Sun is main factor in our weather system. Then don’t forget the Earthquakes that have knocked our orbit off like the Japan earthquake did by moving our orbit by 3 inches and moved the Island of Japan 8 feet CLOSER to the Mainland.
Then let’s add ALL the ACTIVE Volcanoes that SPEW BILLIONS of TONS of CO2, SULPHUR, and OTHER TOXIC CHEMICALS into the atmosphere CAUSING CHANGES TO OUR WEATHER EVERY DAY.

Praise for your very important work writing this article Betsy . Well Done ! Your approach to this issue of how to deal with climate dis- information is the sort of honest , intelligent strategy needed. What you presented about the division among the scientific community sums things up very well — ” The scientific community is divided about the urgency of eliminating fossil fuels.A poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University of 400 geologists, climatologists, meteorologists and other scientists found that 41 per cent do not believe global warming will cause ” significant harm ” during our lifetimes. Those of us who believe that the United States of America stands for honorable, good things , that signify strength of character, and leadership, for courage and truth — should appreciate what you wrote.

Of course it’s brainwashing! . . . If it’s so-o-o important, why haven’t China and Russia leading or even seem to be on board with it? . . . That should tell you more!

When I was a little kid in the 70’s the big scare; besides Russia’s Nukes; was we were heading to another ice-age because there were a couple of cooler years. Now we’ve had a few warmer years and their crying “Global Warming” from the rooftops. Here’s some news that’s going to break some Millennials hearts: the weather changes from time to time. If you don’t believe me just go ask a dinosaur. But wait, your can’t, the weather killed them too. Notice that they’re not really calling it “global warming’ anymore”; because we had some really cold years a few years ago; but now are calling it just “climate change”?
It’s got nothing to do with the weather because they know as well as we do; except the still brainwashed kids; that the weather changes constantly throughout your life. It’s only about “Fear and Control”.
If any younger people read this,do yourself a favor and take that last paragraph seriously, so you don’t spend your whole life stressing about something that happens regardless of mankind’s actions, then when you’re older and notice that hey the weather did change back and forth a lot in my lifetime, that guy was right, I shouldn’t have wasted so much of my time and sacrificed any of my freedom’s for this so called “Climate Change” when it was always only about FEAR and CONTROL!
(Hint: we’re really not that important in the grand scheme of things)

After watching Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth, I was shocked and convinced that we were doomed unless we did something to stop the destruction of our planet. But since then the whole narrative has been debunked, yet many who have bought into the idea refuse to recognize scientific facts that disprove the theory. In the meantime we, apparently, must suffer their ridiculous, unnecessary, and costly “anti-climate change” rules.

The earth every so often turns on its axes. If takes real scientist to know this. That is why the weather is so weird and records set. Greenland was named because it was green lush fields and Iceland was covered with ice. The world tip the other way on its axes and changed that around. It’s Biblical and a proven incident by scientist. Not climate mongers who are peddling their companies so as to line their pockets. It is like the the old saying, by Hollywood elite and politicians, what people don’t know, I can tell them what I want them to know and because of who I am , they will buy it instead of doing their own research via various out let’s.most colleges and schools today, have instructors who graduated at bottom of class or because of their money.Doesn’t mean they have a clue. No matter what political party, race, sex or religion you are someone will not be happy

Teach the children a REAL lesson in ‘net zero carbon emissions’ Have them WALK back and forth to school – every day, up-hill both ways, thru the snow – like our parents did before school bus rides. Have them study in class rooms with out air conditioning like we did, because air conditioned classrooms are just a ‘union benefit’ for the teachers and administrators.

I saw this post and it made me wonder just which generation is really to blame for many of the climate woes that are being put forth by the ‘green’ folks.Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags, because plastic bags are not good for the environment. The woman apologized to the young girl and explained, “We didn’t have this ‘green thing’ back in my earlier days.” The young clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.” The older lady said that she was right — our generation didn’t have the “green thing” in its day. The older lady went on to explain: Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didn’t have the “green thing” back in our day. Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But, too bad we didn’t do the “green thing” back then. We walked up stairs because we didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn’t have the “green thing” in our day. Back then we washed the baby’s diapers because we didn’t have the throw away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days.Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn’t have the “green thing” back in our day. Back then we had one TV, or radio, in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she’s right; we didn’t have the “green thing” back then. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn’t have the “green thing” back then. Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family’s $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the”green thing.” We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint. But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn’t have the “green thing” back then? Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart ass young person. We don’t like being old in the first place, so it doesn’t take much to piss us off… Especially from a entitled, offended, smart ass who can’t make change without the cash register telling them how much.

Now Dictator Beijing biden is going after Ceiling Fans for Global Warming Lie. According to Dictator Beijing biden they WILL COST MORE but you will save a whole $39 over its lifetime.
Well, let’s break it down..First, Ceiling Fans DON’T have anything to do with Global Warming Lie and will have NO EFFECT on lowering ANY Outside temperature. Second, they WILL COST MORE. Third, the cost of Electricity WILL BE DIFFERENT if not HIGHER than they are now COSTING MORE to use a Ceiling Fan over its lifetime therefore, you WILL BE LOSING MONEY AND PAYING MORE for an OVERPRICED Ceiling Fan.
This is another Prime Example of Dictator Beijing biden and the Fascist democrats FORCING CONTROL over you and what products you can use as long as it is their way to CONTROL everything you have or do in YOUR LIFE.
That’s PURE FASCISM people and ARE YOU going to keep putting up with this FASCIST REGIME?

Climate change all started with a vice president who could not spell the word potato! From there he took up the torch of climate change to get attention and make us think he was smart! He has not proven it to me. The numbers don’t add up and all I see he has accomplished is to get as fat as a hog and pester people over his faulty ideas. Hasn’t improved his intelligence at all

A mandate is not law. The only laws we have to obey are Constitutional law. Executive orders are not law. The president cannot make law. Don’t believe me read you Constitution. We the people should tell all our elected officals on every level to go to hell. And the we do what we know is best. Oh, before I forget, in the 1970’s there was a big fuss about global cooling-new ice age was coming! It sure is taking its time getting here!
Remember the book we read called Chicken Little, a little chick that was panicked because a acorn fell on his head and he thought the sky was falling. Sound familiar.?

We should teach the children about the history of the Rockefellers, about Antonio Gramsci, the WEF, Klaus Schwab, one-world government, etc. [Antonio Francesco Gramsci was an Italian Marxist philosopher, journalist, linguist, writer, and politician. He wrote on philosophy, political theory, sociology, history, and linguistics. He was a founding member and one-time leader of the Italian Communist Party. Wikipedia ] Climate Change was invented out of whole cloth to obtain control over the people. It’s a long game. By arguing about climate itself, co2, electric cars, net zero, etc., we are playing the game. We need to remember the SOURCE of this idea. It’s never been scientists or science. It’s the result of a meeting of elites hashing out ideas using a whiteboard in 1950. Climate crosses borders, as do viruses, thus these are fear mongering ideas that apply globally, not just locally. Whether or not mom can afford an electric vehicle is beside the point. The fact that we’re even making electric vehicles and discussing them means we are conceding the field to the communists and WEF one-world government.
