Davy Crockett held the same rank as Colonel Travis and James Bowie. What I just looked up and found is that a man named William B. Mike b 5 years ago I’m related to Davey Crockett though my father and I believe colonel Travis was in command of the Alamo. Davey was just commanding the Tennessee unit of volunteers. (With help from Walt Disney and John Wayne.) Having read the other responders, question, 10 reads “Who led………., not who commanded………… I think Jim Bowie was actually in command, but was sick or wounded prior to the siege, so command was transferred to Travis, but he was overshadowed by Crockett. But neither Bowie , nor Travis was offered as a choice, so the answer had to be Crockett Overall, I think there were like 135 brave heroes ROBERT 5 years ago Oh yes, and I believe Wm. Travis was only a Lt. during the battle, but may have been posthumously advanced, in recognition of his sacrifice. Or not. The commander was James Neill, and he split, leaving Lt. Col. William Travis in charge.
