MEET THE AUTHOR

Anita Diamant

Anita Diamant is a versatile author known for her fiction, essays, journalism, and guidebooks on contemporary Jewish life. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Newark and Denver, she holds degrees in comparative and American literature. After moving to Boston in 1975, she contributed to prominent local and national publications. Diamant’s non-fiction works focus on Jewish traditions, including The New Jewish Wedding and Period. End of Sentence (2021). Her bestselling novel The Red Tent (1997), inspired by a biblical figure, gained global acclaim, was translated into over 25 languages, and adapted into a Lifetime TV miniseries. Other novels include Good Harbor, The Last Days of Dogtown, Day After Night, and The Boston Girl, exploring themes like women’s resilience, friendships, and historical narratives. She is also the founding president of Mayyim Hayyim, a modern mikveh and education center in Massachusetts.
