Spring

The spring season evokes warm feelings – knowing that we will encounter more daylight and be surrounded by beautiful things such as blooming flowers and trees and baby animals. While nature prepares the outside, it’s up to us to ready the interior of our homes to reflect our seasonal joy!  Here are three great ways to welcome spring into your home:

  • Add pastel colors to your room. Nothing shouts spring more than light and bright walls that reflect nature. Opt for earthy sage greens, sunny yellows, beachy corals, floral lavenders, or soft pinks. These colors are known to lift spirits. However, when choosing bright and bold colors, incorporate some restraint. For example, paint one wall rather than all the walls. Or subtly add bold color throughout with accessories such as throw pillows and art. This adds spring cheer and helps to achieve the harmonious themes found in nature – yet avoids overstimulation.
  • Bring plants indoors. Nothing is more inviting than being surrounded by attractive greenery and fragrant blooms. Not a plant person? No problem. Add simple plants such as the snake plant. Per Shopgreendigs.com, “The snake plant, or Sansevieria trifasciata, is one of the most popular low-maintenance spring indoor plants. It requires minimal care, is relatively drought-tolerant, and can survive in a variety of lighting conditions.” Begonias also do well as an easy-to-grow indoor and outdoor flowering plant. It will bloom all year when given enough light. Adding it to your space allows the colorful foliage to sing of glorious spring!
  • Let the sunshine in! Say goodbye to dark drapery and dreary-looking plastic blinds. Rather, opt for soft linens and natural woven window treatments that can be lifted during the daytime to let sunshine flood your space. Muted and natural color window treatments are not only in style for 2024, but they are also highly desired for invoking feelings of calmness and serenity. Adding some airiness to a space makes people feel happier and more relaxed. And being able to look outside to see the sun, birds, and plants in bloom is a reminder that the dark, heavy days of winter are behind us.
