I’m 71 and I grew up in a small town. I learned to roller skate on our front sidewalk, wearing my skate key on a string necklace. My sister and I went to the skating rink almost every Saturday afternoon. If we couldn’t go, we’d skate round and round our carport, with our record player blaring hits on 45rpm records. I still love to skate when I get a chance. You never forget how– it all comes back to you!
I am 80 years young and in my youth I skated every Saturday and Sunday afternoons to live organ music. I had my own skates with wooden wheels. I still have them as a keepsake.
This was fun and I learned something now!
Great Quiz!
Skating is still important in my family. My youngest daughter is 24, and learned to skate as part of a junior roller derby team. She now plays for 2 or 3 different adult teams, both all women, as well as coed, and is also the head coach for a KY junior team. The plus is that she teaches my 6 year old granddaughter on the junior team, and since the age of 4, she’s been her auntie’s favorite skater. ???? Roller Derby is THE only sport we follow in our home! ????
