Yogurt Parfait

The word parfait translated from French to English means perfect, flawless, and pristine. If an ideal combination of foods exists, it would be what we in America call a parfait. Traditionally, this delicious blend consists of tasty layers of ice cream and fruit served in a tall glass and topped with whipped cream. Though an ice cream parfait is delicious, a yogurt parfait takes perfection to a whole new level in terms of flavor and healthfulness. Yogurt parfaits consist of nutritious yogurt, fresh or frozen fruits, and crunchy granola for that perfect bite! Healthy yogurt parfaits can be served for multiple occasions, serving as a nutritious breakfast or brunch side, lunch, or dinner treat, or making the ideal dessert. Here is a basic recipe to enjoy:

Yogurt Parfaits

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of your favorite yogurt, plain or flavored  (We like Greek non-fat brands)
  • 1 cup fresh berries (We like a combo of fresh cut-up strawberries, blueberries, and sliced bananas)
  • 1 cup crunchy fresh granola

Directions:

Divide the ingredients into quarters. Layer them into four tall glasses and alternate beginning with yogurt, fruit, and granola; keep going until glasses are full. End with granola as the topping.

Fruit Tip: Sliced peaches and pears in their juice make a fantastic alternative to berries.
