“The only thing I wanted to do was coach football. I never thought God could use a guy like me.” In 2022, Joe Kennedy, a football coach at Bremerton School District High School in Washington, was fired for praying at the 50-yard line after games. Kennedy was so passionate about his God-given right to pray to the Lord postgame that he took his termination all the way to the Supreme Court. He prevailed and was awarded his coaching position once again. The situation, however, made him finally recognize God’s purpose for his life. Kennedy shared that he was an “unwanted” child who constantly found himself in trouble, which ultimately led to his decision to join the United States Marine Corps as a young man. While all he wanted to do was coach football, Kennedy shares that he now sees this was God’s purpose for his life.
