Call

This resolution underscores that a simple act, like a telephone call, can make a big difference in the life of a veteran.

Dear Senator Shaheen and Senator Cotton,

On behalf of the 2.2 million members of AMAC – the Association of Mature American Citizens, including 11,300 members in New Hampshire, and over 25,000 residing in Arkansas, I write to offer our support for S.Res.754, a resolution which would designate November 13th as National Warrior Call Day.

This resolution strongly indicates that you, and your cosponsors on both sides of the aisle, care deeply for America’s veterans. What a wonderful and hopeful way to encourage citizens across the nation to reach out and connect with veterans who may be in dire need of personal contact with someone who cares about them, their mental wellbeing, and who recognizes the hardship and sacrifice they have faced in service to our nation. As has been stated many times before, sometimes a simple call of support can make a big difference in the life of a veteran.

The 13th of November is an appropriate date for National Warrior Call Day as it is the day we as a country
commemorated those who fell in service to our nation with the dedication of the Vietnam War memorial in 1982.

From acknowledging the sad reality of increasing suicide rates among our veterans, to implementing specific and actionable guidance on what to do, this resolution is a shining example of what effective bipartisan legislation should look like. The fruits of this effort can only be good, and better for America.

As an organization comprised of many members who have worn the uniform of our country’s armed services, AMAC thanks you, Senators Shaheen and Cotton, for your compassion and strong leadership in introducing this important legislation to protect and support our American veterans.

Sincerely,
Bob Carlstrom
President

We’ve throwed money at and talked about this mission for years without a great deal of success. What makes this initiative any different form the other unsuccessful ventures. We need results, we need answers, we need to turn this around. How will this make a difference?

Although not an American vet I served with members of the United States armed forces as a member of the RAFI became an American citizen in1996. I applaud any move to improve the lives of vets.
