AMAC is pleased to endorse the VETS Safe Travel Act that will make the TSA screening process less intrusive and laborious for disabled veterans.

June 3, 2020

The Honorable Paul Gosar
4th Congressional District of Arizona
2057 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Gosar,

On behalf of the 2.1 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 15,000 residing in AZ-04, I write to offer our support for H.R. 3356, the VETS Safe Travel Act.

Many of AMAC’s members are veterans or have family members who are veterans, and we are vested in ensuring that they receive all due acknowledgement for the sacrifices they have made on behalf of our freedoms. Our physically disabled veterans in particular deserve fastidious treatment for their honorable service once their duty has been fulfilled.

H.R. 3356 honors these physically challenged patriots by extending the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Precheck to those veterans who are amputees, paralyzed or blind at no cost. This same service is currently only offered to active duty, reserves, and National Guard service members.

The VETS Safe Travel Act will have a significant effect on the lives of the 70,000 amputee, 100,000 paralyzed and 130,000 blind veterans who now have to endure the challenges of a laborious screening process. This legislation will make the process less intrusive and easier for these veterans to partake in air travel.

Thank you, Congressman Gosar, and your many bipartisan cosponsors, for thoughtful and considerate legislation that makes air travel easier for veterans with service-related disabilities. Your endeavor to improve this experience is appreciated and AMAC is pleased to join other veterans’ groups in offering our organization’s support for H.R. 3356, the VETS Safe Travel Act.

Sincerely,
Bob Carlstom
President, AMAC Action
