STEVE GRUBER: All right, here we go. Now, Donald Trump’s victory has already made a huge impact across the nation. More voters backing him now than both in 16 or 2020. It’s almost a 76 million votes. Tenacity and leadership able to assist in the realignment of former Democrats like Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
To rally behind Republicans. Truly remarkable and Inspirational. Here with me to discuss this more is the spokesperson for AMAC, Robert Charles. Robert, nice to see you.
BOBBY CHARLES: Always good to be with you.
STEVE GRUBER: Alright, so there were Reagan Democrats and now there are Trump Democrats. How long do you think this lasts?
BOBBY CHARLES: I lived through the realignment that occurred in 1980 and 1984 under Ronald Reagan. And I think one of the most remarkable things we’re going to see here is the durability of this realignment. I got calls, unbelievably, I got calls the day after the election, from Democrat friends of mine, more than one.
Who said, Hey, I can’t tell any of my friends I’ve done this, but I voted for Trump. And you look at the numbers, a tremendous numbers of young Americans voted for Trump and older Americans, a huge amount. 56 percent of, the, males between 18 and 30 voted for Trump and roughly the same number, 56% of the citizens who are between 50 and 64 voted for Trump. And then you look at minorities and majority, however, you cut those numbers and you see the universality, the breadth of this victory. And so I think part of what you’re seeing here is a realignment behind what I’ll call core values.
People want an economy that works for them. They want safety. They want a secure border. they want the basic common sense things that are a promise to us in the bill of rights, like free speech and freedom of worship and second amendment. And so what you’re seeing is this sort of outpouring. I think honestly, Steve, of the core values that the country has, has always had.
I hearken back to, Winston Churchill, who, in 1942 talked about what he called the hinge of fate, which is the idea that there are societies that tip, at a certain point toward greater freedom. they really stand up to defend themselves.
STEVE GRUBER: Yeah, now you’re a former Secretary of State. How does this, play out on the world stage?
I’ve seen, even before the election, world leaders were coming to Mar a Lago. They weren’t going to D. C. to see Biden. I think they knew that Donald Trump was going to win. how do you think it plays
BOBBY CHARLES: so as a former assistant secretary of state to Colin Powell my view of this is that this fundamentally Resuscitates deterrence around the world pushes our adversaries back on their heels It’s already happening and our allies again have faith in America as a leader I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see within the next six months 12 months a complete restoration of the Abrahamic accords, seeing Arab countries come in around, around Trump and, Israel, of course, coming back to being, defended by Trump.
And in the end, I think what is, a world which regains its order. the United States has always been a magnet and the shards of metal come to the magnet, the leadership. When we are doing our best to be our best, when we are truly leading the world in the direction of the preservation of those same values I just talked about.
But on the world stage, what happens is our word is trusted. And when our word is trusted, everything changes. I’m reminded again of Churchill who, in 1942 said, this may not be the end. This may not even, be the beginning of the end, but it is the end of the beginning. And I think we’re in a position now where America and the world breathes a sigh of relief and says, gosh, we’re We have a guy that we know what he means, what he says is what he means.
And he says, what he means is with authenticity. So I think that’s where we’re at. And I think it’s a good thing for the world.
STEVE GRUBER: Yeah. I hope you’re right. I hope that it, things like the Abraham accords can be expanded. I think that the war in Ukraine is going to come to an end. I think the terrorist organizations, including the cartels that will be designated as such here very soon, are on notice that we’re not doing this anymore.
We’re not going to get kicked around, we’re not going to get abused, we’re not going to be involved with human trafficking or the free flow of fentanyl or any of these other things that are going on. And we’re not going to be pumping billions of American dollars overseas to arm different, both sides often times in wars.
And then those weapons often get pointed at us, so thankfully we can get rid of that. How significant this victory? Real quick, we got about a minute here, compared to George H. W. Bush. Go ahead.
BOBBY CHARLES: my view is that this is as significant as the 1984 realignment by Reagan, where blue collar Democrats swapped their colors and said, I’m going to be voting Republican in the future, and they did, of course, again.
I don’t know if this means you get two terms after Trump of J. D. Vance, I’d love to think so, but I think what it means is that when Trump, People know what they’re looking at, and you can tell them all day long that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, but if they see that it rises in the east and sets in the west, they know it to be true.
And I also think they admire the fact that Donald Trump has done some learning about just life in general, and he suffered for them. He, he suffered a, tremendous lawfare and two assassination attempts. So I think we’re on a good, course, and I think if we can just stay the course, we’re gonna be in good shape.
STEVE GRUBER: No, I hope you’re right. I, really do, greatly appreciate you being here, sir. Thank you. And remember folks, you can join AMAC and be part of this common sense movement.
