Three More Antibody Tests Get FDA Authorization

Three more coronavirus antibody tests, which detect if a person has previously been infected by the virus, were granted emergency use authorization by FDA this week.

The tests, made by Chembio Diagnostics, Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics and Mount Sinai Laboratory, join one from Cellex as the only serological tests reviewed by FDA to date. More than 90 such tests have been brought to market under an FDA guidance, but Trump administration officials have cautioned not to rely on tests that have not gained an EUA.
