Steve Gruber: AMAC Action recently published a piece citing the Election Research Institute’s protection of vulnerable senior citizens paper. The new report and analysis from the ERA has provided alarming new evidence of voter fraud taking place in nursing homes and highlighted the legal loopholes being used to take advantage of vulnerable senior citizens.
We’ve heard about this. In 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services instructed nursing home staff members. And unknown individuals from shadowy nonprofits to quote help residents registered to vote and fill out their ballots without any effective oversight from election officials or trusted registered agents like family members or close friends.
Nope, just fill this out. This change instantly created significant potential for bad actors to hijack the votes 14019 issued by Joe Biden shortly after he took office. It’s made this problem worse, Joining me now to discuss this AMAC action, senior vice president, Andy Mangione. Andy, nice to see you again.
Look, we’ve heard these stories already that folks would go in the nurse. He goes. people suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia and other issues challenging their memory would just fill this out and they would just fill it out and then hand it back. Of course, some of these nursing homes have hundreds and hundreds of patients.
they range in size from a handful to many, This could have been really significant in some places, couldn’t it?
Andy Mangione: Absolutely. And it’s, there’s the potential for this still to go on. You had mentioned the CMS, what CMS did back in 2020. This was the height of the COVID pandemic. And so what CMS did was instruct nursing homes to interpret a federal rule so staff could assist residents in applying for absentee and mail in ballots and completing a ballot.
You mentioned That’s where the bad actors hijack the votes of nursing home residents. That actually happened. And the Biden administration put the COVID era regulations, Steve, on steroids when it issued the executive order that you cited that mandates that every federal agency, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, must partner with Biden approved, non governmental organizations to conduct get out the vote efforts and because CMS controls the flow of federal dollars to nursing homes to the tune of 100 billion annually, facilities have little choice but to comply.
Now, the Election Research Institute’s paper lays out examples where nursing home residents have become victims of voter fraud schemes since this initial rule change. Here’s a couple of instances, Steve. In Texas, a social worker was charged with 134 felony counts of election fraud. for unlawfully registering residents in a facility.
In another instance, a resident who was labeled not capable upon admission to a nursing home in May of 2020, voted for the very first time, despite being bedridden and unable to walk. These are just two of the examples that the election research Institute papers.
Steve Gruber: No shame, Andy, no shame at all. Just shamelessly go after 134 felony count just said there and look.
Those are just the folks that get caught. What about the folks that don’t?
Andy Mangione: Exactly right. This is why we’re urging our members and your viewers, if you have a loved one in any type of nursing facility, a long term care facility, speak with the director of the facility and ask them how they’re protecting your loved one from this kind of election fraud.
Steve Gruber: Yeah. look, the way to combat this is to be an advocate. If you have a senior in a home, the problem is a lot of these seniors, as you pointed out there, there’s nobody there looking after them. They don’t have an advocate. They don’t have a family member or, somebody appointed by the court to look after them.
And then, These things happen and it’s just sad. I’ll give you the last word.
Andy Mangione: just know this. Okay. In the meantime, I urge your viewers to join AMAC action or to join AMAC, and you’ll have access to our advocacy at AMAC action, because we’re going to remain vigilant as an advocate for reform of these kinds of rules that promote these kinds of actual, electioneering scheme.
