In stark contrast to what Democrats are proposing, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act lowers out-of-pocket health care costs for patients without sacrificing innovation for new cures and treatments.

Dear Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers,
On behalf of the 2.3 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 9,400 who reside in WA-05, I write to offer our support for H.R. 19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act.
We have heard from many AMAC members of their concern for the price they pay for their prescription drugs. Sadly, our members have related experiences where they must choose between paying for the necessities of life or for medicine that is critical to maintaining their good health. No American should have to make these kinds of choices.
H.R. 19 contains many provisions to lower costs, including requiring site-neutral payment for the administration of a Medicare Part B drug at the lower physician fee rate rather than the more expensive rate paid to hospitals. It also promotes competition by allowing Medicare beneficiaries to compare costs across three settings: hospital outpatient department, ambulatory surgical centers, and the outpatient prospective payment system when seeking medical services.
Your bill provides much needed price transparency for prescription drugs. It requires reporting on excessive price hikes, provides for public disclosure of drug discounts and calls for a study of pharmaceutical supply chain middlemen. H.R. 19 would also redesign Medicare Part D that would eliminate the “donut hole,” establish a $50 post-deductible cap for insulin and insulin supplies for seniors, and expand plan options.
Thank you, Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers, and your co-sponsors, for legislation that will relieve the burden of high prescription drug costs. As an organization that represents many seniors who live on fixed incomes, AMAC is pleased to offer our full support for H.R. 19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act.
Sincerely,
Bob Carlstrom
President, AMAC Action
I generally do not consult my medical provider for financial advise. Maybe we should have a medicare forum – it certainly is a big enough issue of seniors to support it.
