The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act preserves the integrity of women’s sports and protects the opportunities, scholarships, and achievements of female athletes.

The Honorable Greg Steube
17th Congressional District of Florida
2457 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Steube,

On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of AMAC – the Association of Mature American Citizens, and our more than 2 million members, I am writing to express our strong support for HR 28, The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which you have recently reintroduced with the backing of 56 Republican cosponsors. This landmark legislation is vital to ensuring fairness, safety, and equal opportunity for women and girls in competitive sports.

Title IX was created to guarantee equal access to education and sports for women and girls, and this legislation reinforces its original intent at a much-needed time. By ensuring that athletics comply with Title IX’s recognition of a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth, The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act preserves the integrity of women’s sports and protects the opportunities, scholarships, and achievements of female athletes.

As you have highlighted, the inclusion of biological males in women’s sports has created significant and unjust disadvantages for female athletes. Women have lost records, scholarships, and team placements, and their safety and privacy in locker rooms have been jeopardized. Americans overwhelmingly support the preservation of fairness in women’s sports, and this legislation reflects their call for action.

The bill’s passage in the House during the 118th Congress and its inclusion in the Commitment to America platform demonstrate the Republican Conference’s dedication to standing up to protect biological women in sports. The Senate failed to act on this legislation under Democrat leadership but the reintroduction of this bill in the 119th Congress offers another opportunity to prioritize fairness and competition for female athletes across the country. Sports have always been a space for athletes to compete, excel, and grow, and this legislation ensures that women and girls are given the fair playing field they deserve.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to protecting women’s sports and standing for truth, safety, and equality.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Weber
Chairwoman
